Bola Tinubu is the alpha and omega of Lagos politics with little development in the state in contrast to the burden of debt he mortgaged on Lagosians along with his lieutenants (Fashola and Ambode).
As at June 30, 2018, the state has the highest foreign debt in the country with a liability of $1.45 billion according to Debt Management Office.
The man called Jagan Borgu is now seeking his sixth term in office through another stooge in person of Jide Sanwo-Olu. I am not surprised that he is up in arm with Ambode because he had same 'gutter fight' with Fashola too when he was about to seek second term. This 'roforofo' fight is not about betterment of the masses and Lagos tax payers but about Tinubu's pocket.
This is a guy with some personal life scandals including paternity, birth date and Chicago university certificate. Despite these burdens he refused to leave a decent life as he was opportune to buried them all because of the society we operate and live in. Therefore he has transferred his misguided personal way of life to public office.
Simply put, he has turned Lagos state treasury to his milking machine through his autocratic nature.
Lagos state is in a sorry state despite the huge internally generated revenue and acquired loans both local and foreign, the public institutions are in a mess including schools, hospitals and indecent transport system. In fact the public water is not there.
The man, Tinubu is not different from average Nigerian politician with mentality of having 95% of state resources to himself and cronies leaving remaining 5% to struggling working class with peanut salaries and tax payers. Most of what they branded as achievements are 'cosmetic in nature' and fake. Eko oni baje is purely media propaganda. The only decent project is located where they all live..... Ikoyi, Lekki, VI, some part of Ikeja.
Historically, there is no empire without end, but I just hope Tinubu and his gang will not leave Lagos with debt that will take century to repay especially that the resources are being spent on 'second hand' projects and facilities like the train Fashola bought from Canada some years back. The health sector is nothing to write home about, Tinubu and his boys claimed to have spent huge money in this area, and yet they travel abroad with their families for medical needs.
My fear with most of his 'alright sir' boys is that majority of them that are educated with some level of exposure no longer have their thinking cap on. The only language they understand is 'Baba sope' literally mean the man has spoken. What I don't understand is if this brigade of boys are so desperate because of crumbs or political post, or they have some sort of oath with Tinubu. Some of these boys just like Tinubu have stayed in abroad before, and they know how things are done, and yet they refused to leave him when they can not tell him the truth.
Another major problem with Nigerians which Tinubu too is guilty of is that whenever they introduce some new ways to make a system or process better, they always want to hijack the whole platform for their own financial benefit irrespective of the original owner like in the case of Lagos state internal revenue board. His alleged company Alpha Beta is milking Lagosians and tax payers with no conscience and consideration for the poor people including teachers, civil servants and pensioners just because they are collecting revenue through tax and other means on behalf of Lagos state. And the company is being handsomely rewarded for the service at a very unreasonable percentage (10% of total collection) since 2002.
MEGA CITY ! MEGA LOOTING !!
Mind you this is not an invention where you can maximize your revenue through patent right. It is just process or system improvement.
The way and manner he runs this fiefdom is uncivilized, uncultured and uncalled-for.
He has created multiple sources of income apart from Alphabeta's profit making machine. Most of the big projects in Lagos are carried out at a very inflated figures all because of his greediness. Many political appointees and elected officials in Lagos and to some extent in south-west provide some form of returns to him according to insiders. Even some of these people have dubious background and controversial academic certificates.
His Alphabeta company was accused of tax evasion and money laundering amounting to N100 billion. And up till now no one (both the company and government official) has come forward to tell the Lagosians the final position of things after investigation because his APC party controls both the state and federal governments.
This evidently show that Nigerian rich men and billionaires do not pay tax and never obey the simple law of the state. Just recently, the federal inland revenue disclosed that they are going after over six thousand billionaires who refused to pay tax.
Nigeria is a country where the low and poor people are enforce to pay tax to the advantage of people like Tinubu and co.
Therefore the fight bewteen him and his co-political travelers are not for the benefit of the Lagosians and tax payers but for THEMSELVES.
Though he started well with his agitation for sovereign conference/restructuring for better Nigeria but the excess wealth in Lagos has gotten into his brain that now he does not care anymore.
As it is Lagos state government machinery is in his pocket because of his highly ill-mannered way and his unfettered access to this state coffers. We will be watching closely how 2019 will play out and how long Tinubu will last with the Lagos state treasury.
Like the wise one will say the masquerade festival will definitely come to end then the children of the masquerade's controller will use their personal money to buy pancake meaning Tinubu's selfish and greed era shall come to an end one day when his children will not have free access to state resources anymore.
Lion of Bourdillon as fondly called by some people, let him listen to the voice of the people who wants Ambode back as they claimed he has outperformed him and Fashola.
Even Pa Awolowo that did credibly well in the old western region is no longer remembered anymore likewise Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the best civilian governor in Lagos state till date is as well not remembered by people anymore. So the Asiwaju of 'agbero politics' that lacks finesse should reconsider his position for prosperity’s sake.
Again if the Lagos resources is judiciously and properly managed, Tinubu and his boys and their families will be using Lagos public hospitals for their medical needs and their children will all attend public schools like their counterparts in civilized countries, and they will stop running to UK and US at the expense of hardworking tax payers. - Irunmole-nla
