COVID-19 to kill more people dragging Nigeria backwards – Popular prophet

The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has put Nigerians on red alert and called the attention of everyone to prayers against deaths as a result of Covid-19.

The prophet, in a statement to DAILY POST on Tuesday, made it known that the novel virus won’t be going away soon, and that it has a mission to kill important personalities, and those who are behind the retrogression of Nigeria as a country.

Ayodele said that God is angry with the present government and those who have disrupted the country.

He spoke on the political situation of Imo State, explaining that the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma might get the shocker of his life if he doesn’t sit right.

Continuing, he noted that the Senatorial election in Okigwe Zone that saw the INEC declaring APC as the winner without a candidate will be given to the candidate of the PDP, Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu because God has anointed him to rule.

“COVID-19 is ready to kill more people that are making Nigeria to go backward, more personalities will die of Covid-19. Let Nigerians join me in prayer between 1st and 14 of January to pray against death in Villa, Covid-19 is still much around.

“Apart from this, the review of Imo state governorship election will still take place, Hope Uzodinma should sit right otherwise he will see the shocker of his life.

“On the senatorial election of Okigwe Zone, if they put any APC candidate wrongly, he will not rule, thus said the Lord. Only the PDP candidate, Emmanuel Okewulonu is anointed to be on the senatorial seat of Okigwe Zone

“God is angry with people who have disrupted this country either you are a pastor, politician or anybody, I will elaborate more on this on the 22nd of December.”

Joe Biden thrashes Trump in Electoral College

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden on Monday won the state-by-state Electoral College vote that formally confirmed his victory in the 3 November election and ended Donald Trump’s floundering campaign to steal it.

California, the most populous state, delivered its 55 electoral votes to Biden on Monday afternoon, officially putting the former vice president over the 270 votes needed to secure the White House.

Based on November’s results, Biden earned 306 Electoral College votes to the Republican Trump’s 232.

Earlier in the day, electors in several major battleground states where Trump has unsuccessfully sought to reverse the outcome – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – also voted for Biden, who is set to take office on Jan. 20 alongside running mate Kamala Harris.

Traditionally a formality, the Electoral College vote – set for Monday by federal law – assumed outsized significance because of Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud.

Biden planned a prime-time address at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday (0030 GMT on Tuesday) to mark the occasion and call on Americans to “turn the page” on the Trump era.

“The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago,” he was expected to say, according to excerpts released by his transition team. “And we now know that nothing — not even a pandemic — or an abuse of power — can extinguish that flame.

“In this battle for the soul of America, democracy prevailed.”

There was next to no chance that Monday’s voting would negate Biden’s victory and, with Trump’s legal campaign to reverse the results failing, the president’s dim hopes of clinging to power rest with persuading Congress not to accept Monday’s electoral vote during a Jan. 6 special session – an effort that is virtually certain to fail.

Once in office, Biden faces the challenging task of fighting the coronavirus pandemic, reviving the U.S. economy and rebuilding relations frayed with U.S. allies abroad by Trump’s “America First” policies.

The report, which was released on Tuesday, also shows that food inflation hit 18.30 percent; up 0.92 percentage points from the 17.38 percent recorded in October.

Inflation measures the rate at which the prices of goods and services increase over a period of time.

The bureau attributed the rise in the food index to increases in the prices of bread and cereals, potatoes, yam and other tubers, meat, fish, fruits, vegetables and oils and fats.

“The urban inflation rate increased by 15.47 percent (year-on-year) in November 2020 from 14.81 percent recorded in October 2020, while the rural inflation rate increased by 14.33 percent in November 2020 from 13.68 percent in October 2020,” the report read.

“Core inflation, which excludes the prices of volatile agricultural produce stood at 11.05 percent in November 2020, down by 0.09 percent when compared with 11.14 percent recorded in October 2020.

“The highest increases were recorded in prices of passenger transport by air, medical services, hospital services, repair of furniture, passenger transport by road, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, vehicle spare parts, hairdressing salons and personal grooming establishments, pharmaceutical products, paramedical services and motor cars.”

Sultan to Nigerian Army: Why can’t you occupy Lake Chad, Sambisa Forest?

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar pointedly asked Nigeria’s military on Monday why they have not occupied the Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad islands, which the Boko Haram terrorists have been using to stage attacks against Nigeria.

The Sultan, a former Brigadier-general of the army raised the poser when he led a team of traditional rulers on a sympathy visit to Borno Governor Umara Zulum in Maiduguri.

Borno recently experienced another carnage in Zabarmari, in which 78 rice farmers were killed by Boko Haram terrorists.

The Sultan made it clear that they did not just come on a sympathy visit. They came to make a strong statement about the insecurity in Nigeria.

The Sultan did not mince words about the parlous security situation in Nigeria, which he said, is getting worse and worse.

He expressed exasperation that all the recommendations made have not been implemented.

“The National Council of Traditional Rulers in Nigeria deem it fit to put a small team to come round to Borno State, Maiduguri in particular to make this very strong statement.

“It is not just a condolence visit, it is a statement that all of us are fed up with the shedding of innocent blood in whatever guise across this country.

“So many lives have been lost in the past, we can’t even compute how many lives we have lost. It becomes like a daily occurrence, a daily event. A new normal, it becomes a story when in a day nobody was killed in a particular place of this country”.

“We had various fora with our political leaders, mentioned these things out, how to take care of our securities in various communities.

” We have written papers, sent our Governors, we have discussed with all our leaders, all the way forward.

“But we see things getting worse and worse. It used to be Boko Haram alone in Borno and Yobe.

“Now it is all over the north in particular and generally all over the country.

“You have bandits and terrorists all over the north, you can’t even move freely, in the south it the same thing. The killings have taken new dimensions and we really don’t know what the causes of this mass killings of innocent people are.”

The Sultan now turned to the military, his former constituency.

“I read about the comment the Governor made some few weeks ago, challenging the military to take the fight to the Lake Chad to clear that place.

“Your Excellency while I was a Lieutenant, I was at Lake Chad in Baga for six months, my battalion in Bama used to rotate with the battalion in Monguno and Maiduguri every six months.

“We occupied Lake Chad part of Nigeria for six months.

“I was a Lieutenant, I was the operation officer and I have my maps. In Lake Chad that time we had 36 islands under Nigeria, we occupied 16 of them.

“The biggest was King Nasara. We controlled that part of Nigeria effectively well as a battalion.

“Now I don’t know why we can’t occupy the whole of Lake Chad and why we can’t occupy the whole of Sambisa Forest.

“If we want peace we have to dominate these areas.

“If we want peace, we have to do away with those terrorists who occupy that place and see nothing good in other people except those that believe in their own negative ideas” the Sultan said.

The visit by the monarchs marked the first time they will venture out to any state or any town specifically to discuss or talk about the happenings in that particular place as regards insecurity and mass killing of innocent people.

While expressing gratitude to the royal fathers for the special visit, Governor Zulum decried the continuous dependence on donations to feed IDPs as the main source of livelihood.

The Governor said there is increasing need to provide sources of livelihood to the IDPs and those resettled in rebuilt communities.

On the trip to Maiduguri with the Sultan were the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemaka Alfred Ugochukwu, Oba Adekunle Adebayo, Ore of Otin, Emir of Hadeja, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Maje, Emir of Fika, Mohammed Abale Ibn Mohammed Idrissa, and Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Dr. Dandasen Douglas Jaja.
