HOPELESS COUNTRY !!! Kanu Nwankwo laments Nigerian govt’s ‘takeover’ of his hotel in Lagos, says his medals have been stolen

Former Super Eagles’ captain, Nwankwo Kanu has lamented as the Federal Government through the Assets Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, began renovations at his hotel, Hardley Apartment, located in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The former Arsenal striker almost broke down in tears, stating that some people are bent on taking over his hotel.

Hardley Apartment is subject of a court case over an alleged unpaid bank loan by the former football star.
Kanu, while addressing reporters in Lagos yesterday, wondered why a country he served wholeheartedly would treat him like a stranger.
He told journalists that the case between him and AMCON has been on since 2015 at the Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos, adding that he did not understand why the company would start renovating his property when the court has not decided the case.
He disclosed that most of his valued property, including his medals and Olympic torch, have been looted.
Kanu said, “It is quit unfortunate that a legendary star, who gave his best to the country, would be treated like this.
“This hotel serves many purposes. I have been using the money I get here to fund my heart foundation and also create jobs for people. Over 500 children are on the line for surgery and 200 are on the waiting list.
“Since the hotel has not been functioning, I find it difficult to get funds to assist these children. I have to go the extra mile to beg for funds. This is not fair.
“The government always tells former footballers not to invest overseas after retirement. They tell us to come back home and invest. I came back to invest and see what I am facing.
“Is this a good experience for other upcoming footballers? Everybody knows I made my money from football. I deserve to be treated well in my country. I am Kanu Nwankwo, not a foreigner.
“Right now I need my medals because they are what I will show my children that I served the country with all my heart when they grow up.”
Kanu said the case was last heard in 2018 and then adjourned to January 31, 2019, adding that he was surprised to see that some people have taken possession of the hotel.
“They broke into my hotel without permission from the court. This is injustice to me for a country I gave my best,” he lamented.

Three children found dead in freezer

Three children have died after getting trapped in an unplugged freezer while playing outside, police in Florida have said.
According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, the youngsters could not be revived by the time they were found in the garden of a home in Live Oak on Monday.
Two of the children – a six-year-old boy and a one-year-old girl – were siblings and lived with their grandmother, and the third was a four-year-old girl who lived with her mother.
The two women are roommates at the property.
One of them had been sleeping at the time the children got trapped as she was preparing for a night shift, and the other was in the bathroom.
She could not find them upon returning, prompting the pair to carry out a search.
Eventually they found the children in the chest freezer, which had been recently bought but not yet plugged in and had spent four or five days outside in the garden.
Police and fire and rescue crews were called to the scene as the women tried to perform CPR on the children, but efforts to resuscitate them failed and they were pronounced dead in hospital.
An investigation into the deaths is ongoing, with post-mortems still to be carried out.
So far police have revealed that the freezer was second-hand and had a hasp installed on the lid in order to secure a padlock, which had not yet been fitted.
When the lid slammed shut after the children had climbed in, the hasp fell shut and trapped them inside.
At a press briefing, Suwannee County Sheriff Sam St John said: “Words can’t describe how heartbroken I am.
“Any time you deal with children and something like this and when they die from something like this nature, it just tugs at your heartstrings. Words can’t describe this and the only thing we can do is go forward.”

90% of Nigerian men are like Jeff Bezos – Daddy Freeze

Leader of the Free the Sheeples Movement, Daddy Freeze said in his opinion, 90 percent of Nigerian men are like Jeff Bezos.
He said he has never support cheating in a relationship and doesn’t cheat, but worse than cheating is hypocrisy.
The controversial On Air Personality advised those who have been bashing Jeff Bezos for cheating feel free to cast the first stone if their husband has never cheated on them, or they have never cheated on their wife before.
His Instagram post reads:
In my opinion, 90 percent of Nigerian men are like Jeff Bezos.

The only problem is they pray a lot more and earn substantially less.🤣

Many of the married women bashing Bezos, including wives of pastors, are probably being cheated upon right now as we speak. The sad thing is that if their husbands leave them, most won’t smell 140,000 naira let alone half of a $140 billion fortune.

Some of you husbands forming holy holy. I’m fasting for 40days with my ‘G’ Hoe while your wives and girlfriends are enjoying the taste of #Asiwaju, God himself will expose you all.🤮🤢

I NEVER support cheating in a relationship and I don’t cheat, but worse than cheating is hypocrisy, I have zero tolerance for that.

So, if your husband has never cheated on you, or you have never cheated on your wife before, feel free to cast the first stone at Bezos, if not, please do the world a favor and STFU! ~FRZ

Nigerian bishop arrested for fraud, operation of ponzi scheme

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested founder of the Beloved Gideon Ministries and Foundation, Bishop Giniko Obi, in Benin City, for allegedly defrauding thousands of people of various sums of money running into millions of naira.

The suspect allegedly collected the money from his victims in the guise of helping them to ‘fight poverty.’
Obi, whose ministry is based in Agbor, Delta State, with outreaches in Bayelsa, Onitsha, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Benin City, however, denied any involvement in fraud, claiming that he was only “doing the will of God by trying to help the people fight poverty.”
According to a statement by the acting EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, in Abuja on Monday, Obi said it was his desire and God’s will to see people prosper that led him into operating what appears to be a Ponzi scheme.
Obi, who claimed to be a consecrated Bishop with a diploma in theology, explained that he was selling what he called nuggets for successful living to subscribe to the scheme.
He said, “We write books such as ‘24 Nuggets for Successful Living’, ‘36 Nuggets for Successful Living’, ‘48 Nuggets for Successful Living’. We organise seminars and conferences on how to be successful and tell the people to subscribe to these publications.
“If you subscribe with N10, 800, we give you N15, 000. If you subscribe with N18, 000, we give you N23, 000. I had about 30,000 subscribers and I was paying them.”
According to him, when he left Agbor for Lagos, his desire was to expand his subscription base but his subscribers were impatient.
“If they had allowed me to hold the conference in Lagos, I would have paid them,” he claimed.
However, some of his victims who thronged the EFCC office since his arrest, described him as a fraudster, claiming he defrauded them.
A victim, Janet Okafor, reportedly told the EFCC that Obi claimed to be a representative of Gideons International, an organisation that distributes Bibles and Christian literature.
She said, “He organised seminars in Agbor market and claimed that he was from Gideons International and that their mission was to help eradicate poverty in Nigeria. He told us that unlike in the past when Gideons International distributed Bibles and Christian literature, their mission now was to eradicate poverty.”
On how she became a victim of the scheme, Okafor, 35, who claimed she had never participated in any ponzi scheme in the past said she fell for his tricks because “the Bishop swore with the Bible.”
“The Bishop knelt down and swore with the Bible; He convinced us that he was from Texas, USA and we believed him. I subscribed with N10, 800 and he paid me N15, 000. It was after this that he engaged over 60 of us as canvassers. I brought many people including my relations and friends. All together, they invested over N5 million,” the victim was quoted as saying.

ASUU reveals when strike will be called off

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has disclosed what the Federal Government must urgently do in order to end its lingering industrial action.

In an exclusive chat with DAILY POST, on Monday night, the National President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said the strike will be called off as soon as the Federal Government meets it renewed demands.
Ogunyemi also said that ASUU will convey the outcome of it’s consultations to government and once government implements its resolution, the strike would be called off.
According to Ogunyemi: “ASUU will call off as soon as the Federal Government meets its demand. The government has proposed what they want to do so we will respond after consultation.
“We will convey the points of our consultation to them tomorrow (today) and as soon as we do that, we expect them to address the minimum demand because ASUU has pencilled down their demands but what government gave was too low for them and that is why they have rejected their proposal.
“ASUU is now getting back to the government with a new minimum, we have bent backwards in the interest of our students and the Nigerian Society,” he said.
On universities pulling out of the strike, he said: “Well, there are some of our branches that have disagreements, majority of our branches are intact.
“When we resumed the strike on November 4, some of our people said they will not participate because they had issues with the union so those ones are free to exercise their rights and very soon ASUU will return to the same fold.
“And for weakening our strike, even those who are not part of it, they believe that we are fighting for a just course and they identify with us, they are with us in spirit. There are places where Vice Chancellors are coercing our members but we are rising in their defence and where they are been overwhelmed and we are unable to help, for now, we will come back and address such issues. We are convinced that victory is certain in this ongoing struggle because it’s in the interest of the universities and the Nigerian nation.”
