We’re the biggest mass movement on earth,no change of name - IPOB

IPOB: We’re the biggest mass movement on earth… we can’t change our name
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has described itself as the “biggest mass movement anywhere on earth”, vowing to retain its name.

In a statement on Friday, the group said the proscription by the federal government cannot force it to operate under a new name.
IPOB accused the government of working with some notable groups in the region to “give the impression that IPOB is no more”.

“We the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leadership worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the prophet our time, wish to bring to the attention of Biafrans and the world at large that IPOB has never and will never change name because of kangaroo and black market order obtained from a federal high court Abuja,” read the statement by Emma Powerful, spokesman of the group.

“It came to our knowledge that some unscrupulous individuals and groups in our society have been paid by federal government, Igbo governors and Ohaneze Ndigbo led by Nnia Nwodo to form another group.
“There is no such organisation in place of IPOB.
“The fact of the matter is that the federal government, in collusion with Igbo governors, are using some individuals to give the impression that IPOB is no more.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. Our protests going on all over the world is clear evidence that IPOB is presently enjoying more appeal than at any other time in our history.
“Many more scams like this will be unleashed on the gullible in the coming weeks and months but we are not perturbed because we have machinery in place to debunk such nonsense as they arise.
“People are flooding to IPOB that remains till this day, the biggest mass movement anywhere on earth.

“The federal government, Igbo governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo may form these mushroom groups once in a while but they quickly fizzle out as they came.” - Cable Nigeria

Mourinho's negative approach : I could not do this at Liverpool - Jurgen Klopp

JurgenKlopp - cropped: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Klopp feels he would be an unpopular man if he adopted Jose Mourinho's tactics at Liverpool after Premier League leaders Manchester United bedded in for a 0-0 draw at Anfield.

United edged back ahead of Manchester City at the summit – their neighbours face Stoke City later on Saturday – but offered little as an attacking force on Merseyside, with the exception of Romelu Lukaku shooting too close to Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in the 43rd minute.
Mignolet's counterpart David de Gea produced the game's outstanding moment when he denied Joel Matip with a tremendous reaction save, while Klopp felt Philippe Coutinho should have been awarded a penalty when he took a tumble in the United box.

Liverpool have now won only one of eight matches in all competitions, but Klopp feels their luck will change if they show more of the application that was on display against their old rivals.
"It's difficult to judge. I think again the performance was worth three points. We were the better side, the more active side," he told Sky Sports.

"United came here and wanted a point. They got it. We wanted three points and didn't get it.
"Everyone knows it is difficult when a top-class team like Manchester United has that defensive approach. It was a clear penalty off Phil.
"Let's carry on. So far, we've only lost one Premier League game. It's not exactly what we want but everybody could see we're not miles away from Manchester United.

"It's not my right to be frustrated. I'm sure if I played like this we could not do this at Liverpool.
"But it’s all okay. We have to deal with our performance and our situation."
Klopp cut a disgruntled figure after the 1-1 draw at Newcastle United before the international break but was unquestionable more upbeat on this occasion.

"There were a lot of brilliant individual performances in a very difficult game but sometimes to open it up you need a little bit of luck," he said.

"We need to keep working hard and it will happen. I hope then, for our fans, we can score a few more goals than today.
"I'm happy with a lot of things but I know we need results. We will get them if we carry on like this. It will happen." - Goal

Shocking !!! Nigeria policemen beat minor to pulp in Cross River Governor’s office

A minor, between the ages of 13-15 was on Friday given over fifty lashes at the Cross River State Governor’s office for allegedly stealing a hand-set belonging to his teacher in Calabar.

The boy, who was completely naked, was whipped by a security operative attacked to Governor Ben Ayade’s office.

His loud cries and lamentations attracted workers and journalists to the torture scene.
The torture, which lasted for almost an hour, was put to a halt when the officer observed that the victim was weak and on a stage of passing out.
Sadly, no assistance came from any worker as the staff according to our findings were afraid to intervene.

For close to an hour activities in the office was brought to a standstill as the minor ran round the open area (Behind the main building of Governor’s office) where he was tortured.
Though, some mothers working in the office had pity over the way the minor was treated, and urged the security officers to allow him wear his uniform, the pleading fell in deaf ears.

“Why don’t they take him to Police station for interrogation rather than beating him mercilessly? See how they have inflicted injuries all over his body”, one of the women lamented.
On investigations, DAILY POST gathered that the minor allegedly stole hand-set of his teacher while the teacher (female) was teaching.

The line was tracked and the suspect (Minor) was arrested. Disappointingly, the father of the boy was inside one of the offices while the son was being tortured.
The boy who could not stand erect because of the beating was seen struggling to put his sandals and school uniforms.

The sister of the boy was not spared as the officer gave her two dirty slaps for failing to tell her dad about the attitude of her brother.
The faintly minor was whisked away to an unknown destination by policemen. - Daily Post

University lecturer stabs postgraduate student

One postgraduate student (English Language) of the University of Lagos, Jimi Fatunbi, has been allegedly injured by two lecturers.

Fatunbi said he was slapped and stabbed by the lecturers at about midnight on Wednesday at Faculty of Education roundabout.

He identified the lecturers as Dr. BabawaleTaiwo and Dr. Israel Abiala, who lecture at the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics; and Arts and Social Sciences Education respectively.

Fatunbi told Punch: “I went to take my car from Elkanemi hall, where it was initially parked, to Henry Carr. While I was reversing at Elkanemi Park, I discovered that a vehicle was behind me and the occupants (lecturers) of the vehicle said I was obstructing them.
“Dr. Taiwo started banging on my car. I felt he wanted to damage my car and I stopped. I came down to ask him what was actually wrong.
“I felt that if I was indeed obstructing, since I was moving away, there was no need for the attack.

“He said I had committed an offence and he needed to deal with me, being a lecturer. So, before I knew it, his colleague, Abiala came down from the same car and started manhandling me. In the process, one of them stabbed me in the face.
“I was shouting until students came around. I eventually called my hall executives and I was taken to the university’s Medical Centre for treatment.”

He said the lecturers were interrogated by the university’s security officials after they were informed of the situation.

Public Relations Officer of UNILAG, Toyin Adebule, said, “I have confirmed it myself. There is one Dr.Taiwo involved and the case was reported at our security post. The attention of the management has been drawn to the case and we are taking action. It is still under investigation.

“The dean and head of department where he works have been informed and the university has requested that the lecturer should come for questioning. We don’t condone indiscipline, hooliganism and violence from anybody at any level.

“The university is taking up the matter seriously and we will never leave any stone unturned until we get to the root of the matter. It could be cultism, money or anything. We want to know what caused the matter and we will get back to you. We have asked the security to go after him'' he concluded.
