In 2010 Mosaku was named one of The Seven Fresh Faces of Toronto International Film Festival for “I Am Slave,’’ in which she starred.
She played Malia, a girl who has been kidnapped from her village in Sudan, and sold into slavery.
For her performance Mosaku won awards such as Best Actress at the Birmingham Black Film Festival, Best Onscreen performance at the Cultural Diversity Awards and Best Female performance at the Screen Nation Awards.

I May Dump PDP If Sherrif Wins At Supreme Court – Fayose

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose says he may dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if the outcome of the Supreme Court verdict on the leadership tussle within the party does not favour the Makarfi-led caretaker committee.
He disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday while reacting to media reports that he has removed the name and logo of the PDP from his campaign office and mini signposts mounted on Ado and Ikere-Ekiti roads.
Fayose, however, stated that he remains a bonafide member of the PDP, until the outcome of the court judgement.

Victoria Beckham reveals the real reason she's rarely seen without sunglasses

Victoria Beckham, an English model has revealed why she is often seen in sunglasses - because she is “up all night” with her kids.

The former Spice Girl, who was speaking in Hong Kong where she has a fashion store, said: “I love women. I love to empower women.

"I think sunglasses are the final touch to a woman’s outfit. I wear sunglasses because like most mums, I am up all night with my children. They hide a multitude of sins.’

The 43-year-old also lifted the lid on what she was like as a boss.
She said: ”Someone once said to me that I don’t shout. I do shout, at home. But I have so much respect for the people I work with that I don’t.

“I go into work every day and I’m happy and I feel very lucky.

She has four kids with former footballer David; Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 14, Cruz, 12, and their five-year-old daughter Harper, five.

Prince Charles apparently "wasn't pleased" with the Duke and Duchess as newlyweds

A new book alleges the royal couple not only faces judgement from the media, but from their own father[-in-law] as well.

In Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbable Life, author Sally Bedell Smith claims the then-newlyweds "irked" the heir on their 2011 North American tour. Prince Charles dismissed the trip to Canada and California as having too many photo ops, Vogue reports.

According to CafeMom, the royal "wasn't pleased with the camera-friendly couple" and considered the pictures "tasteless." Those are some harsh words supposedly coming from ol' dad.

Smith also alleges the Queen acted with more understanding towards the young couple. She even slashed the wedding guest list to please her grandson, apparently saying, "Get rid of it ... Start from your friends and then we'll add those we need to in due course. It's your day." They then trimmed down the proposed 700 invitees, nixing two former prime ministers in the process.

In fact, the prince and the monarch are closer than you think, according to an included interview. "William is like his grandmother," says his former principal private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton. "He gets on with his duty, dedicates himself to doing the job ... [He's] looking at 'the long game.'"

Trump: I have 'absolute right' to share facts with Russia

President Trump early Tuesday said he has an "absolute right" to share facts with Russia after a report late Monday that he revealed highly classified intelligence to Russian officials during a meeting last week.

"As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining...to terrorism and airline flight safety," the president tweeted.
"Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism."

The Washington Post first reported that Trump revealed highly classified intelligence information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador while meeting with them last week at the White House.

Trump allegedly revealed "code-word information" related to threats from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that had been provided by a U.S. ally in the region, according to the Post.

One U.S. official told the newspaper that the information was so sensitive it had not been provided to U.S. allies.
Trump discussed the information, according to the report, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office during a meeting last Wednesday - a day after he fired former FBI Director James Comey.

Accountant jailed 14 years for theft of N3.1m

A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday sentenced a former Chief Accountant with Vanguard Media Limited, Bhadmus Yisa, to a 14-year jail term for stealing N3.1 million from his employer.
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye found Bhadmus guilty of conspiracy and stealing charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,( EFCC).
Bhadmus and one Samuel Ogbole, the Imo State Circulation Officer of Vanguard Media Limited, were accused of stealing the company’s money.
He had pleaded not guilty to the amended eight -count charge brought against him by the EFCC when he was arraigned on October 21, 2013
Justice Ipaye in her judgment found the defendant guilty on charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing.
The judge resolved the charges of conspiracy to steal and stealing in favour of the prosecution, while she held that the prosecution failed to prove the case of conspiracy to forge bank documents and forgery pressed against the accused and his alleged accomplice.
Justice Ipaye held that Bhadmus and Ogbole stole the proceeds of sales of Vanguard newspapers in Owerri from 2006 to 2008 through forged tellers numbering about 68, which were not remitted into the company’s bank account.
She held: “I have no doubt that the prosecution has proved the case of stealing beyond reasonable doubt. I have no doubts that Vanguard dispatched newspapers to Owerri, which proceeds supposed to be remitted to the company’s account, following which the out station manager needs to file weekly sales proceeds to the head office.
“But this was not done, instead, he was sending money into the account of the accountant. The money paid to the personal account of the accountant represented the sale proceed of newspapers sold in Owerri. I therefore resolved the issue of stealing in favour of the prosecution.”

Ghanaians, other Africans use Nigerian passports for crime – Yusuf Hinna

A non-career ambassadorial nominee, Commodore Yusuf Hinna (retd.), has alleged that Ghanaians and citizens of other African countries obtain Nigeria passport and use it for criminal activities.
The nominee stated this while responding to questions at his screening by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs in Abuja on Tuesday.
He told lawmakers that some of the criminal activities perpetrated in several countries of the world were by nationals of other African countries who hold Nigerian passports, and not by Nigerian citizens as often reported.
He said if confirmed as ambassador, he would embark on continual screening to determine citizenship and eligibility for obtaining the Nigeria passport.
On Xenophobia, Hinna said if confirmed and posted to South Africa, for instance, he would engage the country’s government in order to stop harassment of Nigerians living in the country.
“There are dislikes against Nigerians in South Africa. When Nigerians arrive, police dogs are used to sniff them at the airport.
“If I am sent to such a country, I will engage the government so as to stop unwanted harassment.
“However, I recall that some Africans such as Ghanaians were arrested and they were carrying Nigeria passports.
“There is abuse of our green passports. There are security challenges, and we have to tackle them,’’ he said.
On threat to world peace, the nominee said “nuclear weapons are dangerous to world affairs.’’
He also spoke on the rise of different militant groups, particularly in Nigeria, who posed danger to security of lives and property.
The nominee called the Federal Government to curtail activities of such groups to protect the country against security threats greater than that currently posed by Boko Haram.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that other nominees screened by the committee were Justice Sylvanus Nsofor (retd) from Imo and Mr Joseph Olusola Iji from Ondo State.
President Muhammadu Buhari in a letter dated March 29, 2017, requested the Senate to re-consider Nsofor, who was earlier rejected for failing to scale through the initial process.
Iji nomination replaced Mr Jacob Daodu, who was also rejected by the Senate based on a report from the Department of State Security (DSS).
Hinna, from Gomber State, was nominated to replace Mr Suleiman Hassan, who was nominated to fill the ministerial slot of Gombe State.

Conte wants Chelsea players to reach record-equalling 30 wins

Antonio Conte has challenged his Chelsea players to make history by beating Sunderland on the Premier League’s final day after a 4-3 win over Watford on Monday secured the Blues a record-equalling 29th victory in the competition this season.
Goals from departing captain John Terry, Cesar Azpilicueta, Michy Batshuayi and Cesc Fabregas narrowly earned all three points for a Chelsea starting XI that featured nine changes from the side that clinched the Premier League title with a 1-0 win against West Brom on Friday.
The result moved Conte’s men onto 29 Premier League wins for the season — level with Jose Mourinho’s title-winning Chelsea team of 2004-05 — with already-relegated Sunderland set to be their final opponents at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
And after the match Conte set his players a new target of becoming the first team in Premier League history to reach the 30-win mark.
“I made this decision to change a lot of players with the opportunity, above all, for our young players to start this game,” Conte said.
“This was an important game because it’s the first game that we are champions. I must be pleased because we conceded three goals, but we scored four, and also we created many chances to improve the final result. I had good answers from the game.
“We won our 29th game this season, so it’s a great achievement. We have the possibility to win 30 games. We have to fight to try and reach this target now. It’s important for the players. The most important thing is to win the league, but then you can write some records … that’s important for the history.”
Despite his desire to break the win record, however, Conte suggested that he will give Chelsea’s fringe players another chance to impress against Sunderland as he prepares for an FA Cup final clash with Arsenal later this month.
“In this situation, you must have a plan in your mind,” he added. “I think the FA Cup final, you don’t play that on Saturday. You start to play the final 10 days before. For this reason, in my head, I have a plan to try to arrive to play the final in the best condition, in the best situation for my players.”
Conte handed Batshuayi as well as youngsters Kenedy, Nathan Ake and Nathaniel Chalobah their first Premier League starts of the season against Watford, while Ola Aina came on as a substitute but Ruben Loftus-Cheek was absent in the match day squad.
Conte said this was due to injury, and added that the England under-21 midfielder may leave Stamford Bridge on loan next season.
“He’s struggling with a pain in his back,” Conte said of Loftus-Cheek. “It’s a pity because for sure today was a good opportunity for him. Ruben is a really good player. He is an important prospect for me, and we have to take the best decision for him for next season.
“But in the future, Ruben is a player from our academy with good prospects to become a Chelsea player.”

2 men jailed 21 years for stealing phone, necklace

Two men, Qudus Waheed and Ganiyu Samson were on Tuesday at an Ikeja Hight Court, sentenced to 21 years in prison for stealing a necklace and mobile phone.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Waheed and Samson were sentenced by Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, following a plea bargain agreement in which they pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery.
“The defendants have pleaded not guilty to a lesser charge of robbery.
“The defendants before me have shown to be first time offenders who are in their mid to late twenties.
“However, Section 295 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, which imposes a mandatory sentence of 21 years in prison, must be taken into consideration.
“The Comptroller of Prisons, however, is hereby at liberty to apply for early release of the defendants to organisations such as the Prerogative of Mercy.
“I hereby sentence Qudus Waheed and Ganiyu Samson to 21 years each in prison, their period of detention should be taken into consideration,” Ipaye said.
According to Mr Jide Boye, the State Prosecutor, the convicts committed the offence at 5.30 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2012 at Ogunjobi Junction at the Dopemu area of Agege, Lagos.
“The convicts alongside other accomplices, who are at large, attacked one Mr Abolore Olayeni, who was on his way to work by hitting his head with the side of a cutlass.
“They stole his necklace worth N15, 000, an X2 mobile phone worth N5, 000 as well as N3, 000.
“The convicts were apprehended by the police and arraigned on Nov. 24, 2014 on charges of conspiracy and armed robbery which they plead not guilty to.
“They, however, considered entering a plea bargain agreement and approached the court through their counsel and they agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of robbery.
“The convicts have been in custody for four years and the offence of robbery under Section 294 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, prescribes at least 21 years in prison,” Boye said.
Earlier, before the sentence was passed, Chief Y.A. Ajao, the counsel to the convicts in his allocutus, asked the court for a lenient sentence for his clients.
“The defendants are young men and have shown a lot of remorse, they are penitent. They regretted what they did.
“On that particular day, they had just left a party and they were drunk and they promised that in their lifetime, they will never cause any trouble.
“They have been in prison for four years which is a long time,” Ajao said. - NAN

EFCC re-arraigns Ajudua for alleged fraud

Lagos socialite, Fred Ajudua, was on Tuesday re-arraigned before the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, for allegedly defrauding a former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd) of $10.3 million while they were both in Kirikiri Maximum prison, Lagos.
Ajudua was arraigned before a new judge, Justice Josephine Oyefeso on an amended 28- count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain money under false pretences by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The socialite’s arraignment took place after Justice Oyefeso had dismissed his application challenging the court’s jurisdiction to try the case.
He was earlier arraigned before Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye on May 26 last year.
Ajudua pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The EFCC prosecutor, Mr. Seidu Atteh, alleged that Ajudua and others obtained the money in different tranches between November 2004 and December 2005 under the pretence of giving it to Justice Olubunmi Oyewole through Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) as part payment of professional fees to facilitate Bamaiyi’s release from prison.
Atteh alleged that Ajudua received a total of $10.3m and N2million from Bamaiyi. - The Nation

Britain to support power sector reform in Nigeria

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright, said the British Government would support power sector reform in Nigeria.
Arkwright stated this on Tuesday in Abuja in an interview with newsmen after visiting Mr Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing.
He said that the visit was to identify areas of collaboration with the Nigerian Government, especially in infrastructure and power sector.
He said the idea was to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda on diversification, adding that no meaningful progress could be made without effective power sector.
The envoy said that the meeting was also for British companies to take advantage of the opportunities available in Nigeria’s power sector.
He said that rural electrification was another issue discussed at the meeting with a view to using UK expertise in solar energy to address rural electrification problem in the country.
According to him, getting transmission line through hundreds of miles to rural communities is not really feasible, so our discussion centred on the use of solar energy for such communities.

In 24hrs, CBN pumps fresh $457m into forex market

In less than 24 hours, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday injected $457.3 million into various segments of the market.
Isaac Okorafor, CBN spokesperson, in a statement in Abuja, said that both the spot and forwards segments garnered $267.3 million while the wholesale segment got $100 million.
Okorafor said the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and invisibles segments comprising basic travel allowance, tuition fee and medical got $50 million and $40 million respectively.
Meanwhile, the NAN checks on the volume of trading on the investors and exporters foreign exchange window in the past three weeks on the FMDQ platform revealed that $600 million had been sold by both the CBN and autonomous sources.
Okorafor expressed satisfaction with the level of activities in the market.
He said that the volume of activities being recorded in the investors and exporters forex segment was indicative of the fact that investors were attracted to the Nigerian financial market and the economy in general.
NAN checks also revealed that the naira closed at N383 to a dollar at the parallel market.

What Your Sign Says About Your Living Situation

Aquarius: The One Who Needs a Lot of "Me Time"

Always the independent one, your roomies are hella thankful they don't ever have to get after to you to clean up or do your part. You've got this adulting thing down. As a good listener, you're always there to help your housemates out with their respective dramas, although this can sometimes backfire when you become such a good ear that people sometimes forget you need space and time to decompress yourself.
Once you find your ideal roomies though, you're happy as a clam. Sure, you like being independent, but on your terms. Left alone for too long and you get cabin fever rather easily.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Good taste in books and advice.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Not emerging from your room for a week at a time. "Did we do something wrong?" your roomies ask. "No," you reply, taking the Ben & Jerry's back to your room and shutting the door.

Pisces: The One Who's Chill to a Fault

You have to be careful not to live with people who take advantage of your kindness, Pisces. Yeah, it's OK to get all the toilet paper and paper towels this time around, but your roomies need to step it up and understand that you're not a one-woman Costco for everything.
When you find the right roomies however, your home becomes a zone of creativity and projects. Your artistic eye and gentle demeanour make everyone feel safe to explore their creativity and passions. You're also great at living alone too. Other people might get antsy or lonely, but not you, Pisces. The times you live alone are some of your most productive times.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Good music and collaboration.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: TBH, you'll p*** yourself off first once you realise you're being taken advantage of at every corner.

Aries: The Leader of the Pack

A natural-born leader, everyone in your shared space looks to you to set the tone and house rules for everything. Someone's gotta call the super? Everyone looks at you. Someone's gotta call the landlord? Everyone looks at you. Someone's gotta find a fix for the mouse problem? Yup, you guessed it, you again!
You always ask for what you want and don't waste any time letting people know what you expect of them. Your roommates might sometimes get annoyed with this but they have no idea how hard it is living with someone who doesn't know how to communicate about the simple things.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Organisation and leadership.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Asking everyone to do the dishes. (It's that or bugs! Which do you prefer?)

Taurus: The DIY Queen

Never met a DIY you didn't like. Your Pinterest account is highly poppin' and your roommates are always stoked to know you'll have a full toolkit and many craft bins to raid should they need. It makes sense when you think about it - your DIY proclivities combine the best of your "take the reins" attitude and your need to work with your hands.
You rarely have blow-ups with your roomies because you're so patient; it takes someone really hotheaded to get you upset about the little things. On the other hand, because you are normally so stable, blow-ups tend to be big if you have them. That very same patience you have turns into stubbornness pretty quick if no one diffuses the situation, and fast.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Literally aaaall the decor and practical stuff, like a level and hammer. You're also honestly shocked that other people your age don't have stud finders.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Getting glitter everywhere, including inside the couch cushions and the microwave.

Gemini: The Constant Redecorator

When it comes to your home, you have so many different ideas of what you want. So many, in fact, that it can be hard for you to actually follow through and buy anything. You've gone through at least two leases without nailing anything into the walls (you always figured you'd do it the next week until you remembered you were moving out in a week.)
This can be super annoying for your housemates because it's not like you don't have an opinion on things either. But if you find your people, you'll all soon come to understand that as long as someone else puts their foot down and makes the executive decision, you'll come around eventually.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Opinions, lots of 'em.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Not deciding on a cable package until month three of your year-long lease.

Cancer: The Emotional One

You're usually BFFs with your roommates at one point or another. You can't help it! You're just that friendly. You've got an air of nonjudgmental support about you that makes everyone feel comfortable opening up to. You view your home as a safe space for letting it all out and want your housemates to feel as comfortable openly crying in the communal areas as you do.
Your roomies love that you're always around to be a shoulder of support and a fountain of advice, but sometimes you wish people asked you how you felt. Not like you'd keep it in anyway, but still, it'd be nice if they asked.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Emotional support.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Bringing a guy home twice in one week and then being paranoid you're being a bad roomie. No one cares that much but the bigger a deal you make of it, the more annoying it is.

Leo: The Party Animal

Highly sociable and charismatic, everyone knows a party or pregame at your house sets the standard for the rest of the night. You always have a lot of people over and are a great hostess (seriously, you should write a party-planning book).
This constant revolving door of guests can make your roomies a little exhausted if they're not on your level socially ... but, if they are, it's all good. Enjoy these cohabiting years, Leo, because not everyone will be able to keep up the same social energy as you forever.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: The party!
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Not cleaning up after the party! (You were tired.)

Virgo: The Self-Sacrificing One

You're often the first to apologise in a roomie conflict just because you don't want to live in a toxic place. You work way too hard every day to come home to drama. Your roomies might not realise it, but you're the backbone of the home. You're more than likely the one who set up the cable, the Wi-Fi, the gas, or at least reminded everyone else till they followed through.
You're a homebody so you like your home to be a sanctuary. It drives you low-key nuts when people don't clean up after themselves, or worse, when everyone makes you clean up (by not doing it) and then doesn't say thank you. Is it so bad to wanna be appreciated?
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Lack of ego, structure.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Organising everyone's mess in an attempt to tidy up and in the process throwing out that one important receipt your roomie totally needed to return those boots to Zara. But in your defense, it was lying there crumpled on the kitchen table for weeks!

Libra: The Mediator

Switzerland! You're always the neutral party in any conflict, trying to show both sides a different perspective. You're very fair and never one to hold a grudge unless someone really deserves it. Sometimes (and I say this with love) that comes across as being passive-aggressive. On one hand, you might think that leaving a Post-it note lets someone process things on their own time, on the other, some (I said "some") will translate this as being passive-aggressive.
Your good taste and maturity are a joy to live with and all your roomies know how lucky they are to live with you. Your green thumb is also super impressive and your apartment more than likely has a bunch of cute plants. If it doesn't, go and buy some - you'll probably be shocked to discover this secret talent.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Miracle-Gro, teamwork.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Hiding from the other roommates in an effort to avoid conflict.

Scorpio: The Assertive One

Assertive Scorpios are a blessing and a curse to have as a roommate - it all depends on who they're living with. If you're living with people who are also in touch with their emotions, this can be great. If you're living with people who aren't so much, it can get tricky. Scorpios aren't afraid to say what's on their mind and let people know just how much the dirty plate that's been on the counter for a week has been bothering them.
While people who run from conflict might not vibe with this, it can also be really cathartic to live with a Scorpio because stuff doesn't build up and turn to hard resentment. It's all laid out in the open, all the time, from the get-go.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Transparency.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Calling out everything and everyone.

Sagittarius: The One With the Netflix Login

You're generous but tend to overpromise stuff. You don't need to do this, dear Sag! Your roomies love you regardless of your parent's premium cable package plan. Your roomies love that coming home means they get to enjoy your hilarious personality. What better feeling than knowing they've got a built-in support system to vent to who also happens to do a spot-on impression of all the real housewives.
You're fearless in a way that freaks nonconfrontational people out. You'll say what's on your mind no matter what the consequences. Sure, it feels great in the moment but there are definitely times when you've wished you had played your cards a little closer to the chest.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Grand plans and access to your parents' Netflix account and maybe one day, you'll get that Hulu account and and and maybe that HBO plug and and a -
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Volunteering to call the super about that leaky faucet and then never getting around to it. No one was expecting you to do it, so it's annoying to you'd say you would and then bail.

Capricorn: The Mom

As the de-facto housemother of any given living situation, your roomies are always grateful to know you're right around the corner with Gatorade and ibuprofen when they come home wasted from partying too hard.
You take care of everyone and never ask for anything in return. You can't help it! You're very traditional in the sense that if you see somebody who needs help, you reach out and give it to them. You can't just sit idly by and watch someone struggle. You're responsible and have your ish, like, fully together.
The Thing You Bring to a Home: Responsibility and a grown-up rug that isn't plastic.
Most Likely to P*** Everyone Off By: Asking their roomies to use a coaster. - Cosmopolitan

Scientists Have Discovered Exactly How Dinosaurs Were Wiped Out

When you're a kid, there are two great mysteries that beguile you about the world: what's in outer space and what the hell happened to the dinosaurs?

Well, why the existence of alien life forms remain TBC, a group of researchers from Germany claim to have settled the debate over T-Rex and co for good.

Yup – it's the old 'obliterated by an asteroid' theory, only with more detail than ever before.
A team inspected the famous Chicxulub crater in Yucatan, Mexico and unearthed 260 rocks which they sent back to the University of Bremen in Germany.

There, a bunch of clever adults who never shook off that childhood wonder reconstructed the most detailed theory yet on what precisely happened.
They say the nine mile wide piece of space litter smashed into earth while travelling at 40,000 mph, destroying everything it hit and causing fragment in a 600-miles radiation fireball that burned at approximately 10,000 degree Celsius, which even the really hard dinosaurs like the T-Rex and that fast one from Jurrasic Park would have been pretty hopeless against.

Not only that, but the blast caused fragments of the Earth's crust to explode into the air at heights as large as mountains where it polluted the atmosphere, blocked out most of the world's sunlight and, just for good measure, caused the biggest tsunami in history.

And if that doesn't sound unlucky enough for our absent friends, the researchers also crucially concluded that it was the location of the impact that was the most important – had it landed elsewhere the relatively small asteroid wouldn't have set off this biblical sequence of awful events and dinosaurs may still rule the world.

Professor Alice Roberts said: "As the clouds started to clear, plants came back to life and a tiny group of animals came out of hiding to inherit the Earth. With the dinosaurs gone, suddenly the landscape was empty of competitors and ripe with possibilities.

"Just half a million years after the extinction of the dinosaurs and landscapes around the globe had filled with mammals of all shapes and sizes."
You know the rest: monkeys, men, civilization, war, peace, Trump.
Now what about those aliens? -

Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll has said that Nigeria will remain one and indivisible country, and appealed to those agitating for the country’s split to have a rethink.

Sanusi said this on Monday when he received the newly installed Garkuwan Hausawa in Ogun, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, in his palace.
Emir Sanusi said if Nigerians respect each other, they would continue to remain as one entity irrespective of their tribes, religion and cultural differences.

“This is what we, the traditional rulers are promoting among our subjects. So, we should ignore our difference and help in building one country.”

He called on Hausa community residing outside the North to respect the culture, tradition and norms of their host communities for peaceful co-existence.

“You should be good ambassadors of the north and ensure that you leave in peace and harmony with your host communities. Nigeria will remain one and indivisible country and Nigerians will continue to be one family".
“I was delighted when I learnt of your goodwill to Hausa people in Ogun state. I am not surprise of the good testimonies I hear about you taking cognizance of the fact that you are from a ruling house.

“Oba Awujale of Ijebu Land is my personal friend. We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship; and I feel happy for the role you are playing as the Garkuwan Hausawa to ensure cordial relationship between my people and the Yorubas.”

The Garkuwan Hausawa, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, said he was at the palace to pay homage to Emir Sanusi and receive his blessings as the newly crowned Garkuwan Hausawa.

“They are my brothers. I ensure that they are happy and I can testify to you that they have remained good ambassadors of the Hausa race in the state.

“They live in peace with us and I will ensure that the status quo is maintained,” he added.

Bill Cosby blames sexual assault allegations on racism

American actor, Bill Cosby agrees with his daughter that racism could have played a role in the sexual assault allegations from more than 50 women.

“I strongly believe my father is innocent of the crimes alleged against him and I believe that racism has played a big role in all aspects of this scandal,” Ensa Cosby, the comedian’s daughter, said in an audio statement on Monday.

“How my father is being punished by a society that still believes black men rape white women but passes off “boys will be boys” when white men are accused, and how the politics of our country prove my disgust. My father has been publicly lynched in the media.”

In the preview of an interview with SiriusXM’s Michael Smerconish, the 79-year-old actor echoed his daughter’s statement.

“Could be. I can’t say anything but there are certain things that I look at and I apply to the situation and...there are so many tentacles, so many different — nefarious is a great word,” he said.

“And I just truly believe that some of it may very well be that.”
When Smerconish pointed out that his accusers “are both black and white,” Cosby instead accused the women of trying to get revenge.

“Well, let me put it to you this way: when you look at the power structure and when you look at individuals, there are some people who can very well be motivated by whether or not they’re going to work. Or whether or not they might be able to get back at someone. So, if it’s in terms of whatever the choice is, I think that you can also examine individuals and situations and they will come out differently. So, it’s not all, it’s not every, but I do think that there’s some.”

Dozens of women have accused the former “Cosby Show” star of drugging and assaulting them over the years.

Man United predicting record revenues of up to £570m

Manchester United are performing better than expected off the field and are now predicting record revenues of up to £570 million this year.
Jose Mourinho’s men sit sixth in the Premier League and have the Europa League final against Ajax to look forward to next week, but despite being without Champions League football, United have raised guidance on revenue and profit for the year ending June 30, 2017.
United have increased projected revenue in their third quarter results to between £560m to £570m — a £30m rise on the second quarter prediction.
The club achieved a record profit of £191.9m last year and, despite big-name acquisitions and the lack of Champions League football, are on course for earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of between £185m to £195m.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said: “As we near the end of the season, I am delighted we have picked up two trophies so far, and look forward to competing for a third in the Europa League final, the only trophy we have never won.
“We are forecasting better full year financial performance than expected and as such have raised our revenue and profit guidance for the year.
“We look forward to a strong finish to 2016-17, both on and off the pitch.”
Total revenue for the fiscal third quarter ending March 31, 2017 was £127.2m and broadcasting revenues of £31.4m were up 12.9 percent for the quarter.
Staff costs rose 18.3 percent on the previous year quarter and net debt is £366.63m, representing a £17.6m increase over the year but US dollar debt principal remains unchanged

Rapper Travis Scott arrested for inciting ‘riot’

Rapper Travis Scott was arrested after a concert in Arkansas with police accusing him of “inciting a riot” as the crowd rushed to the stage, injuring several people.
In the latest such incident for the 25-year-old, an enthusiastic crowd pushed through barricades to move closer to him at the arena concert Saturday night.
Video footage posted online shows Scott energetically dancing and revving up the crowd but later asking fans to step back and politely thanking the fire marshals after completing his hit “Goosebumps.”
Police in northwestern Arkansas, best known as the corporate hub of retail behemoth Walmart, said that several people were injured including two involved in security.
“During the concert Webster encouraged people to rush the stage and bypass the security protocols to ensure concert-goer safety,” the police department in the town of Rogers said, referring to the rapper by his real name of Jacques Webster.
“Webster was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a minor,” it said in a statement.
Scott was released without bail, meaning he will need to return to Arkansas to hear the charges.
The incident had echoes of Scott’s 2015 performance at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago where dozens of fans jumped barricades and onto the stage, ending his set within minutes. He was also arrested for disorderly conduct and ordered to remain under court supervision.
Scott has been under an increasing spotlight as he has been romantically linked to Kylie Jenner, a member of the Kardashian celebrity clan.

Female Teacher Had Sex With One Of Her Pupils After Her Husband Plied Him With Booze

A female teacher who had sex with one of her pupils after her husband reportedly plied him with booze has been jailed. Jessica Storer, 29, had sex with the 18-year-old at the couple's marital home.

The romp happened after Storer and husband Derrick, 33, invited the student and other youngsters to their house. Storer has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty at a previous hearing to sexual battery.

The pupil said in a letter read in court that he had since thought about killing himself several times. “I should have been able to trust her,” he added. “I’m trying to get my life together.” Storer said the teen was 18 and helped himself to alcohol at her home.

She added: “The sexual relationship between the 18-year-old and I was a one-time thing."

Judge Randall Basinger said the blonde mum did not seem to understand the seriousness of what she had done and was trying to shift responsibility to the teen.

She said: “I accept full responsibility for him drinking and for not saying no.

“I do feel it was consensual. It was not forced. That’s where I came in saying this should be between my husband and I, my priest and God.”

The judge told her she was the adult, despite the teen being an adult by age.

“I understand. I should have said no,” said Storer, who must register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

Storer’s husband is due to be sentenced today after pleading guilty to three of those charges.

He faces up to six months behind bars on each count.

“Mrs. Storer engaged in sexual intercourse with the student while he was still under the influence of alcohol," prosecutor Lilly Shun told the previous hearing.

Storer claimed the lad was not drunk. But Ms Shun said he had admitted being under the influence. Judge Basinger asked Storer what happened
