Why Nigeria may remain a jungle for a long time

Don't call me a pessimist.

There are many reasons why Nigeria may never progress but I will focus on two issues out of many problems namely.....education and healthcare delivery where there is a sharp division between the poor and rich in terms of access and affordability

Education and healthcare service are part of the sustainable development goals initiated by the United Nation in order to transform the world. Records have shown over the years that Nigeria is not committed to any UN poverty alleviating programs

Structurally Nigeria is operating a defect presidential/federating system with a faulty constitution. This is a deep-rooted problem that if solved will help speed up the country's development and probably offered some relief and solutions to the endemic problems ravaging the country. But note, if the country is restructured and the budgetary provision on education and healthcare are not given priority at each state/regional level the country will still be moving in circle.

Back to the main issues pointed above..... free and qualitative education and healthcare, if adopted will provide some succor to the citizens and the system as it will be explained below

These two key issues can make Nigeria if government can introduced policies/laws that will make it compulsory for all government officials both elected and appointed including all public/ civil servants (all government workers) to make use of public schools and public hospitals with their families.

Even at the budgetary level, all tiers of government will need to increase the budgetary allocation to the united nation stipulated figures. For example Nigeria government allocated just 7% of 2018 budget to education sector as against UN stipulated 26% of national budget. In the healthcare sector too budget allocation fall below expectation, 5% was allocated against AU agreed 15%.

Based on these figures you don't need an expert/economist to tell you that Nigeria is far away from other modern countries that are genuinely interested in the progress of their countries. This is one reason why the country has taken over from India as the most extreme poverty county in the world

And as far we operate within the current budgetary allocation on education and healthcare delivery the country will remain poor for a very long time and majority of the population will be living below poverty level

My experience and understanding has taught me that a free and qualitative school and healthcare provision for all citizens will provide equal opportunities to all besides making all government officials to be totally committed and faithful to the progress of the country. The resources is there to make it free up to secondary school level, it could be in form of school grants/loans at university level

But instead we have bunch of crazy looters and unpatriotic rulers among government officials that are ready to sacrifice the country's interests so long their children and spouses attend the best schools and hospitals in the world. And these costs are not undertaking from their legitimate income but from stolen money

About five governors have their children graduated from UK universities in 2017 including some traditional rulers that are been paid from tax payers money. Even Buhari is not left out of this bandwagon effects. And you are expecting Nigeria educational and healthcare sectors to compete with the rest of the world. No way it is impossible because these wicked people are only service providers with strong conviction that the services is only meant for the poor masses

These actions of theirs will rather expand the gap between the poor and rich people and continuing to expand the poverty level and other vices like kidnapping, killings, police brutality, robbery, prostitution, economic migration...just to mention a few.

Unfortunately Nigeria has been having mediocrity as presidents including the so called incompetent educated ones like Yaradua and Jonathan.

These morons and political imbeciles are less concern about the masses and the country

The world stipulated budgetary allocation for education and healthcare are not achievable because the policy-makers and executors are not loyal and committed to the country's development and secondly they all have their children oversea receiving the best education and superb healthcare service

Until we have in place compulsory laws and polices directing for all government officials both elected and appointed and all the government workers to make use of public schools and hospitals in the country along with their families, Nigeria and Nigerian masses will continue to wallop in critical poverty whereas these few politicians and their collaborators in civil service with their family members will continue to gallivanting all over the world with tax payers money enjoying the best medical service and qualitative education

If this can be done it will not only improve the quality and number of users but also enhance the image of the country and make the citizens be proud of their leaders and country. It could also become an avenue for foreign earnings where people will be visiting from all over Africa just like the way they patronize UK. The life span of the citizens too will increase and the poverty level will come down drastically. To cap it all patriotism level among citizens will skyrocket.

The slogan should be if you can not do public schools and hospitals with your families you have no business working with government either through elective/selective post or appointment.

Because of our level of development, indiscipline and nonchalant attitudes among leaders and followers alike we need to back this type of idea with laws/policies.
Most top government officials in some developed countries including UK have their kids in public schools and most importantly use public hospitals. This practice has continued to improve their service delivery and increase workers commitments.  - Irunmole-news

Shithole country !!! Trauma of Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi

EVEN years after he was seized by cruel kidnappers, Pa Michael Obi, father of the Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, again had another rough deal in the den of abductors on June 29.
Pa Obi and his driver, John Ishaya, according to the police, were abducted on Makurdi-Enugu Road, while the footballer was on his way from Jos, Plateau State.
Mikel’s father, according to the police, was travelling in his grey coloured Toyota Prado Sports Utility vehicle marked MUS 604CG, when he was kidnapped.
The kidnappers were said to have demanded N10m as ransom from Obi’s family.
They were, however, rescued by the operatives of Enugu State Police Command on Monday July 2, after a shootout with the kidnappers.
In a statement, Enugu Police spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu, said the rescue operation was carried out by men of the Ninth Mile Division of the command in a forest, after a gun battle with the kidnappers.
The suspected kidnappers escaped after being overpowered by the police.
Amaraizu said: “The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, through its operatives, rescued Pa Michael Obi and his driver, one Ishaya John, unhurt in Egede Udi forest on Monday, July 2, 2018, around 2.30pm along old Egede-Affa Road, Enugu.
“They were rescued hale and hearty and Pa Michael Obi and the driver have been reunited with their families. “Pa Obi and his driver were abducted along Markurdi-Enugu Road on his way from Jos and taken to a thick forest. “The abductors called to demand a ransom of N10m before policemen, acting on intelligence information, swooped on them, after which a gun duel ensued which forced the hoodlums to abandon their victims inside the forest and fled.”
The police spokesman added that Pa Obi commended the police for the rescue. “Pa Obi thanked the Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed, and the operatives, saying he is happy with the operatives’ performance.” Mikel’s trauma The news of the abduction was relayed to the Super Eagles midfielder on the telephone, a few hours to the crucial match against Argentina which Nigeria lost 1-2.

The kidnappers were said to have threatened to kill the elderly Obi, if the law enforcement agencies were informed. In an interview published on the online platform of a cable television, Mikel said he got a call from Nigeria barely four hours to the Argentina game that his father had been kidnapped. Mikel further revealed that the kidnappers demanded N10 million ($28,000 US) for the safe return of his father, Pa Michael Obi. “I was confused. I did not know what to do, but in the end I knew that I could not let 180 million Nigerians down,” Mikel was quoted as saying.
“I had to shut it out of my head and decided to represent my country first. I was told that they would shoot my dad instantly if I reported to the authorities or told anybody. “And I did not want to discuss it with the coach because I did not want my issue to become a distraction to the coach or the rest of the team on the day of such an important game. So as much as I wanted to discuss it with the coach, I could not do it.” His courage to play the Argentine game despite his father’s abduction drew applause from a cross section of Nigerians on the social media for his exemplary display of patriotism.
Mikel Obi’s father
”Congratulations, Mikel, over the rescue of your father from the den of kidnappers. Your courage to play in the match for Nigeria has shown that you are a patriotic country man and yours is a rare gut. We need people like you to run our great country at this moment. Well done,” said a commentator identified as Temiloluwa. Another Nigerian, Sesan, wrote: ” I thank God for the release of your father from the kidnappers. Playing for Nigeria on a day your father was abducted is a rare courage. Keep it up. Your sense of patriotism is commendable; it is a huge sacrifice.” Another respondent, Anthony Igwe, said: ‘’May divine protection never fail you and your family. You are a very courageous man. You deserve a national honour for your heroic conduct. It is well with you.” It will be recalled that the Eagles captain’s father was first kidnapped on August 12, 2011 on his way home from work in Jos, the Plateau State capital. - The Nation

Fayose hunted by forces he used to capture power - Oshiomhole

Oshiomhole: Fayose hunted by forces he used to capture power
Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, is “hunted by ghosts of forces he used to capture power”.
He said this in response to the allegation of Fayose that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is plotting to rig next week’s governorship election for the APC.
Oshiomhole said Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been spreading falsehood out of fear of losing the election.
“No better evidence to the fact that PDP is panicking. You must have heard report that in clear violation of the electoral act, the outgoing Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has instructed the civil servants, principals and headmasters of schools to retrieve PVCs  from civil servants,” he said at a press conference in Abuja.
“While we are asking people to collect PVC, they are busy retrieving PVCs. We have evidence that they had to issue queries to workers, including teachers who refused to surrender their PVC.
“We all know that Fayose was rigged into the office. The military officers involved have since confessed to the role they played. I think every armed robber thinks that the same instruments he has used would be used against him. But this is a party of change, we are not going to copy the darkest side of PDP.
“To be honest, I think Fayose is hunted by the ghosts of the forces he used to capture power.” - The Cable

Fulani herdsmen killings in Plateau: Victims traumatized, set up mental health centres – NMA tells FG

Sequel to the recent attacks in some villages of Plateau State, which claimed the lives of over 200 persons and displaced thousands, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has called on the Federal Government to immediately set up a mental health centre in the Internally Displaced Persons camps.

The called was made by Chairman of the Association in Plateau, Dr. Titus Dajel, at one of the IDP camps at COCIN Church Heipang in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the State.
The medical personnel offered free medical service to over 3,000 IDPs, mostly women and children.
Dajel explained that setting up of the mental structures in the state will address the mental health challenges caused by the crisis.
The association also donated relief materials to the IDPs – foodstuffs, clothing and toiletries among other items.
According to the Chairman, “The health clinic was aimed at providing an organized health care service to those in the camps.
“We are worried about the consequences of such crisis especially as it affects the health sector.”
He said the doctors were on ground to attend to the immediate needs of the IDPs, stressing that subsequently, more doctors will visit until the victims leave the camp.

Speaking, Coordinator of the camp and Chairman Regional Church Council of COCIN Heipang, Reverend Davou Gyang appreciated the doctors for their  assistance.
He lamented that running of the camp has not been easy.
The cleric said: “All the IDPs want is for Government to rebuild their homes as well as provide adequate security to enable them go back to their main sources of livelihood which is farming”.
