Boeing sets aside $100m for victims of 737 Max crashes

Boeing sets aside $100m for victims of 737 Max crashes
Boeing, aircraft manufacturer, has set aside $100 million to support families of those who died in two 737 Max crashes, according to CNN.

Boeing’s 737 Max jets were grounded worldwide after one of its aircraft flown by Ethiopian Airlines crashed shortly after takeoff in March.

Pius Adesanmi, renowned writer, and Biodun Bashua, a former UN and African Union (AU) deputy joint special representative in Darfur, Sudan, were the two Nigerians who died on the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines aircraft.

The incident occurred after a 737 Max flown Lion Air, an Indonesian airline, crashed in 2018.

The compensation is coming after families – including Adesanmi’s- sued the aircraft manufacturer over the crash in June.

Nomaan Husain, counsel to the Adesanmi’s, had said: “Our goal with these lawsuits is to obtain answers for our grieving clients and hold the Boeing Company accountable for creating this tragedy.”

Boeing said the money would be given to local nonprofits and community groups that will distribute the funds to the relatives of the 346 people who died in the crashes.

A spokesperson for the aircraft manufacturer was quoted as saying that people who accept funds from the $100 million compensation fund will not be required to give up the right to pursue legal action against the company.

“The alumnus, who graduated in the 2013/2014 academic session, with Matriculation number 083659, had in a publication of March 15, 2018 on an online medium, claimed that a certain lecturer failed him in a particular Biology course for six years.

“Other spurious claims contained in his write-up included that he sat for BIO 101, 102, 104 and 106 and scored grade ‘A’ in all of the courses. Another COZA ex-member accuses Pastor Fatoyinbo of rape ( VIDEO )

As the number of ladies coming out to narrate their rape experiences keeps increasing, another lady has come forward with molestation accusations against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).

The ex-COZA church member gave a detailed recount of her experience with the man of God to media personality Chude Jideonwo of YNaija in an exclusive interview.

Social media space was set on fire days ago following rape allegations by Busola Dakolo, wife of popular musician, Timi Dakolo, against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.

Since the news broke, several female members of the church have come forward with individual claims of their harrowing experiences and this can be linked to the fact that Busola’s courage to go public served as a strong motivation for other women who have suffered abuse to speak up.

However, in the latest interview with Chude Jideonwo, the woman pleaded anonymity while narrating how she had made a usual call to the man of God’s house to discuss activities relating to the church and what needed to be done.

She said at some point while she was seated on the couch, Fatoyinbo, whom she had always seen as a role model, joined her on the sofa and started to touch her inappropriately.

Explaining further, she said she kept telling him to stop what he was about to do, but he remained adamant and told her to relax. This he kept saying until he took off her clothes and forcefully had his way with her.

The lady said she did not cry or raise any alarm after the act had been carried out, but Fatoyinbo became remorseful and started apologizing for his actions, stressing that he never meant to hurt her.
