‘They have paralysed judiciary, only go to Abuja’ – Agbakoba blasts Nigerian governors

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, on Saturday, slammed Nigerian governors, insisting they have paralysed the judiciary.

Agbakoba said the State governors do not respect the Nigerian constitution and have not shown that they are responsible for it.

He noted that governors seem to have retreated and do no more ‘than go to Abuja and collect.’

According to him, despite court judgement, the governors are yet to obey court orders in respect of financial autonomy, adding that they are looking for more power.

He said this during The Platform, a programme organised and hosted by the Senior Pastor of Covenant Nation, Poju Oyemade.

According to Agbakoba, “The state governors have paralysed the judiciary and they are looking for more power. They have not shown that they are constitutionally responsible because they are not obeying the constitution.

“The governors seem to have retreated and do no more than go to Abuja and collect. We want to see more action on the part of our governors.

“I am happy that Kayode Fayemi, my good friend, will be on because he is the Chairman of the Governors Forum, yet they are not obeying the constitution.”

Meanwhile, Agbakoba had last month written to Nigerian governors on the judiciary workers’ strike.

Man United warned against signing Harry Kane

Former Manchester United player, Phil Neville has warned the Red Devils over signing Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer transfer window.

Man United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Kane, who has always insisted he wants to win silverwares.

Neville, who is currently the coach of Inter Miami, believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side should not sign Kane, insisting that they already have Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani.

According to him, Kane may block Greenwood’s progression in the Man United squad.

“I know a lot of people are talking about Harry Kane, and I think Harry Kane is world-class, but I think in Cavani they have got someone who can definitely produce the goods for another twelve months, and the club wouldn’t have to pay the types of money that you have to pay for somebody like Harry Kane,” Neville told talkSPORT

“Obviously, long-term you would have a think about the best players in the world at this moment in time, you think about Lewandowski, Kane, Mbappe, but it is going to be difficult to prise those players away from their clubs.

“So I think Cavani fits the bill perfectly.

“I think if you bring in somebody like Harry Kane, you are also blocking the path for somebody like Mason Greenwood, who I think is one of the best finishers in the game.

“Ultimately, United have to create a pathway for Mason Greenwood to actually become the number nine. He is going to be the number nine without a shadow of a doubt – he is the best finisher at that club.

“He’ll be the number nine for England and Manchester United.”

Bishop Wale Oke: God will trouble Fulani, Buhari must go

National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, said the level of insecurity in Nigeria tormented him to the point that he prayed for the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oke stated this at his church’s vigil at the auditorium of the Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Garden of Victory, Ibadan.

He said Buhari must go for Nigeria to experience peace.

He attributed the recent kidnappings of students to failures of the Buhari-led administration.

Bishop Oke said even during the civil war, Nigeria didn’t witness as many killings, saying unlike then when only the East was boiling, all parts of the country are reeling with attacks.

He said: “In the 1960s when Nigeria fought civil war, Eastern part of the nation was the theatre of war.

“Sadly today, everywhere in Nigeria is the theater of war with much killings and bloodshed going on in the country every day.”

Bishop Oke also blamed the Buhari government for the attack on Greenfield University in Kaduna.

According to him: “Some wicked people kidnapped some students and demanded N800m for their release; they killed them.

“The government could not lift a finger and you are telling me that the President has not failed? Buhari has failed!”

“For the first time, I have found myself praying that God should remove Buhari. They kidnapped students without the government doing anything and you are telling me that the government has not failed?

“Are you saying we can not move against an incompetent government whose security apparatus has collapsed?”

He added: ” I am not afraid of anybody. I am not! I am the prophet of the Most High, He watches over me. No bullet of the enemy can kill me; I can’t die in the hands of a man.”

According to The Nation, Oke also attributed the insecurity in Nigeria to Fulanis and accused the Buhari’s administration of treating them with kid gloves.

He said: “Fulani, a tribe less than ten percent, troubling the whole nation. God will trouble them and when the table turns against the Fulanis, they will be consumed to the roots.”

The victims were reportedly abducted from their farms while preparing for the forthcoming farming season.

Though the council chairman could not be reached for confirmation, a senior official of the council said, “It is true that some farmers have been kidnapped but for now, I don’t know the exact number.”

No contacts have been made by the hoodlums to the families of the victims as at press time.
