Israel’s Reshet TV Documentary On T.B. Joshua’s Relocation (Video)

Preparations for Prophet T.B. Joshua’s relocation to Israel seem to be heating up with the airing of a documentary on national Israeli television about the impending arrival of the Nigerian cleric.

Reshet TV, one of the most successful television networks in Israel, aired an 11-minute feature on Joshua in Hebrew, detailing his recent visits to Israel and meetings with government dignitaries.

According to the video’s introduction aired on Isreali Channel 2, “the man responsible for 60% of the tourism in Nigeria announced that he is moving to Israel”.

The documentary, subsequently uploaded to YouTube, was punctured with clips of Joshua ministering on Emmanuel TV, along with his recent journey around Israel.

He is often seen in the company of Rabbi Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, the Founder of Israel’s award-winning rescue agency, ZAKA, who recently presented Joshua with an award in honour of his extensive humanitarian efforts.

“How did you get your power,” an Israeli journalist questioned Joshua in an interview, intrigued by the clips of ‘deliverance from demonic possession’ he viewed on Emmanuel TV.
“From my Father, Jesus, who was born in this land,” Joshua answered with a smile. “I am an inheritance of His grace.”

Interviewing foreign pilgrims who were undergoing baptism at the historical site of the Jordan River, the film-maker questioned a lady whether she had ever heard of T.B. Joshua.

“Well, I live in the US and I know him because he is popular in the US,” she responded.

News outlets and social media across Africa have been agog with news of Joshua’s move to Israel, several prominent Nigerian government figures calling on the cleric to rescind his decision.

Pope criticises American military for using word 'mother' to describe MOAB bomb

The Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis has criticised the United States military and the talking heads who discuss the military for calling a bomb a “mother.”

The pontiff’s comments — referencing the Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (MOAB), the largest bomb in the American arsenal — came during a speech he gave to an audience of students, and just weeks before he is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump.

“I was ashamed when I heard the name,” the pope said. “A mother gives life and this one gives death, and we call this device a mother. What is happening?’

The MOAB bomb was used for the first time last month to attack a series of caves with Isis insurgents in tunnels in the Achin district, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. Although that was the first time that the bomb had been used by the US military, the explosive had been in the American arsenal for over a decade.

The bomb itself weighs more than 10 kilograms and has a blast radius that is a mile wide. Because it is referred to by it’s acronym instead of it’s official name, people began to refer to it as the “mother of all bombs” colloquially.

Gunmen Abduct Nasarawa Lawmaker’s Mother, Sister

On Saturday night, unknown gunmen abducted the mother and sister of Mr. Kassim Mohammed-Kassim, member representing (APC) Akwanga South constituency at the Nasarawa state house of assembly.

The state police command, through its spokesman DSP Kennedy Idirisu confirmed the abduction to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lafia.

According to Idirisu, the gunmen in their numbers, stormed the residence of the lawmaker at Moroa in Akwanga at about 8 pm and shot sporadically before whisking the two women away.

He said that the police was collaborating with the vigilante group in the area to locate the victims.

“As we speak, our men are already combing the areas in search of the victims and to apprehend the perpetrators,” Idirisu said.

He, however, appealed to members of the public to assist the police with useful information that could lead to the rescue of the women.

According to family source who preferred anonymity said the abductors have contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N30 million

Adeleke’s Family Rejects Aregbesola’s Inquest Into Senator’s Death

The family of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has rejected the coroner inquest instituted by Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola into the death of the first civilian governor of the state.

The immediate younger brother of the deceased, Deji Adeleke, who read the family’s address at a press briefing in his residence in Ede on Sunday, said the outcome of the inquest had been predetermined.

The briefing also has Ademola; Dupe Adeleke-Sani and other members of the family in attendance.

Deji Adeleke said, ” The family hereby denounces in its entirety the ill advised and self serving coroner’s inquest ordered by the Osun State Government purportedly set up to determine the cause of death of our dearly beloved Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke.

“We condemn in strictest terms the continuous politicization attempts by the state of this great loss to our family, particularly the ordering of this inquest at a time we are still coming to terms with the harsh reality of his sudden departure and the pain and grief therefrom.

“We have been reliably informed by credible sources that the outcome of the kangaroo inquest is already predetermined by the state and designed to serve its own interest with distorted facts and misinformation which will clearly not be in the interest of the good people of Osun in general and the Adeleke family in particular.”

Adeleke died in early of Sunday April 23.

English comedian Stephen Fry under investigation for blasphemy

English comedian, Stephen Fry has never hidden his atheism but this time, someone who decided he went too far reported the gay entertainer to the police and he has been placed under investigation. The incident in question goes as far back as February 2015 when the comedian took a hardline stance against God during an interview with Irish broadcaster RTE.

The individual, who wished to remain anonymous, said it was their 'civic duty' to report the comments which he alleges were in breach of the Defamation Act.  TV footage showing Fry condemning God has gone viral and has been viewed millions of times on YouTube.

Asked what he would say if he was confronted by God, Fry replied: 'How dare you create a world in which there is such misery that is not our fault? It's not right.
'It's utterly, utterly evil.

'Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates a world which is so full of injustice and pain?'
Questioned on how he would react if he was locked outside heaven, he responded: 'I would say, 'Bone cancer in children? What's that about?'

'Because the God who created this universe, if it was created by God, is quite clearly a maniac, utter maniac.

'Totally selfish. We have to spend our life on our knees thanking him? What kind of God would do that?'

The offence of blasphemy, included in the Defamation Act, is punishable by a fine of 25,000 euro under Irish law.

A spokesman for the police said: 'We are not commenting on an ongoing investigation.' Fry, 59 is married to 28yr old Elliott Spencer.

Pensioner Asks To Show His P3nis To Jury To Prove Gf Choked To Death During Oral Sex

A Pensioner is asking to show a murder jury his P3NIS to prove his girlfriend choked to death during oral sex. A judge in Florida is considering whether to grant Richard Henry Patterson’s request.

According to local Sun Sentinel newspaper reports, he is accused of murdering his girlfriend in her bedroom.

Patterson, 65, claimed the death of Francisca Marquinez, 60, in October 2015 was an accident when she choked while performing oral sex. He wants the judge’s permission to show the jury his penis to prove his girlfriend choked.

The pensioner from Margate, on the south coast near Fort Lauderdale, has previously admitted choking Marquinez but has so far never publicly said how, the paper reported.

Since his claim has now been made, his attorney Ken Padowitz said the size of his manhood is key to his defence when his trial starts.

President Buhari May Travel To London Tonight For Medical Treatment - Spokesman

Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari will leave for London tonight for a medical check up, his spokesman said. Read his statement below;

“PMB travels tonight for medical follow-up,” presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said in a statement.

“The length of the President’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors. The government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the Vice President.”

Adesina, however, insisted that there was “no cause for worry.”

'Internet taught my son how to make a bomb', says mother of student

He was convicted of planting the device – made using a £2 Tesco clock – on the Jubilee line train on Wednesday.

His rucksack was discovered packed with explosives and ball bearing shrapnel, on a train at north Greenwich, on October 20 last year.
His mother, Antonitza Smith, 48, said in an interview with the Times: “If it wasn’t for Google and YouTube he wouldn’t know how to make a bomb.”

Her son told detectives that he had left the device “as a prank” when he had time to kill between maths lessons but a jury at the Old Bailey found him guilty of possession of an explosive substance with intent.

Mrs Smith, from Rotherhithe, south London, told the newspaper: “When he was at his computer I thought he was safe. In the end his computer was the enemy.

"He had an interest in how things work. He said to me 'I know how they did that' about the Boston bombers (following an attack on the city’s marathon in April 2013).”

She added that her son, who studied computer forensics at London Metropolitan University, could “hack things” and said he had hacked Devonshire Council’s system to change the exam marks of a boy who had been bullying him when he was 12 years old.

The single mum, whose son has Asperger’s syndrome, said he had been “bullied all his life” .

She told the Times: “They should make it harder (to access dangerous material online). They should toughen up their software.”

He developed an interest in Islam while studying for a GCSE in Religious Studies and told police he believed the faith was “more true”.

On a list of ingredients for his bomb he wrote: “And keep this a secret between me and Allah.”
His mother said: “I believe it was a prank.
"He told me, he said 'Mum, if I wanted to make a proper bomb I could have'.”

How to choose the right smartphone for you ?

You've got more choice than ever when it comes to picking a new smartphone. But that also means that sifting through the specs and makes and models can be overwhelming. We're here to simplify it for you.

To make this advice as universal as possible, we've stopped short of recommending particular phones, but you should be able to use the guidelines below to make an informed choice about whatever handsets are currently on the market.

iOS versus Android

For some, the software platform that their new phone runs on is the be-all and end-all of their phone choice; for others, it barely matters. So what are the main differences between iOS and Android?

These platforms are actually more similar than ever, as they've been borrowing features from each other for years. Most of your favorite apps, from Facebook to Spotify, will run just fine on both. And they offer the same fundamental features to let you do everything you would want on a modern-day smartphone.

That said, Android remains the more customizable mobile operating system. If you want to, you can (for example) change the default SMS app or the default browser; you can also revamp all the icons and widgets to create a truly personalized interface. Apps can also hook into deeper parts of the phone, which means they can perform extra tasks. So some Android apps let you record calls you make—iPhones just don't let apps dig that deep into the system.

iOS is more polished but more restrictive than Android.

For better or worse, Apple's iOS is more limiting in what it lets apps and users do on iPhones. Its fans would say that makes for a smoother experience, while its detractors would say it's too restrictive. For instance, you can install Outlook and Gmail on an iPhone, but when you tap to email one of your contacts, the app that actually opens will always be Apple Mail.

iPhones are also designed to work primarily with other Apple gear, like MacBooks and the Apple Watch. However, you can still easily sync your phone with iTunes on Windows or use it without a computer at all. To choose between Android and iPhone, you also must think about the other apps and platforms you use.

Despite some of the debates you might read online, Android and iOS are pretty much neck-and-neck in terms of performance and features. Each has its own feel and way of working though. So if you're already on one platform or the other, try grabbing a friend's phone for ten minutes to see what the other side looks like.
Stay or go?

Unless you're only just old enough to be getting your first phone, picking between Android and iOS is less about comparing the two and more about considering whether it's worth the effort to switch. It's no wonder Apple and Google want to lock users into their apps and services as tightly as possible.

If you're heavily invested in the Google ecosystem—Gmail, Google Drive, Google Photos, and so on—then switching between Android and iOS is pretty straightforward, whichever direction you're going in, because all of Google's apps are available on both platforms. You just install the Google apps on your new phone and away you go.

However, if you've already spent a long time on the Apple side of the fence, then moving over to Android can be a real headache—you need to extract yourself from iMessage, for instance, and none of the movies or shows you've bought on iTunes will work on Android (to watch them, you'll need to use iTunes on a computer, an iPad, or an Apple TV).

To be clear, it's not impossible to switch from iPhone to Android, but it can be difficult if you aren't already using a lot of Google services on your Apple device. It largely depends how tightly tied you are into Apple's various services, such as iCloud and Apple Mail, as you don't get these apps on Android. The one major Apple app you do get on Google's platform is Apple Music.

For a lot of people upgrading from an existing phone, the easiest decision is to just stick to what you know. The process will be quicker, and both iOS and Android let you set up a new phone from an old one, which means you can transfer a lot of your stuff over to your new handset very simply.

That said, we'd also recommend checking out what the other side can offer, in case some new feature or function catches your eye, or you just prefer the interface. It might be worth your while to switch to an iPhone if you've just bought a MacBook and an Apple TV, or to switch to Android if you notice that you're mostly using Google apps on your iPhone.

What smartphone specs mean

Smartphone specifications are broadly similar to computer specs: The processor controls how fast the phone can "think," the RAM (Random Access Memory) determines how much the phone can think about at once, and the storage space is how much room it provides for all your apps, music, games, and other files.

On top of that, you of course have the screen size and resolution. These affect the sharpness of images and text on screen, as well as how easy the phone is to hold in one hand. Options for the small-handed are dwindling in number, as the trend seems to be for bigger and bigger screens pushing phones closer to tablet territory.

However, unless you're going to the very low-budget end of the market, or the ultra-premium high-end, smartphone specs don't matter too much—much less than they do on your laptop. Any modern-day phone can run Facebook and Instagram, and you don't need to splash out on the very latest hardware unless you want the top-end games and intensive apps like video editors to run at top speed.

Other details to look out for are waterproofing and dust protection, and whether the phone accepts a memory card for expanding the on-board storage (some Android handsets do but this isn't available on iPhones). Another perk to keep an eye out for is wireless charging: A lot of phones now offer this feature for extra convenience.

One of the most important specs for any smartphone buyer is the quality of the camera, which is usually listed in terms of megapixels (the size of the pictures) and aperture size or f-number (how much light the sensor lets in). More megapixels and a lower f-number usually means better pictures, but many factors combine to determine the quality of a smartphone camera. When weighing your camera decision, you should also check out professional reviews, user reviews, and sample shots online.

Finally, battery life is another important consideration. Phone battery size is measured in mAh or milliampere hours, with a higher number meaning more juice. But of course many other factors, like the screen size and resolution, will affect how quickly this runs down. Again, check out the reviews you can find online and take the manufacturer's quoted battery life with a pinch of salt.

Picking the right price

The final consideration, and perhaps the most important for many of us, is price. One quick way of narrowing down your choices for a new phone is to just set your budget and see what's available in your price range.

Android phones have a lot more price points than iPhones do. In addition to their expensive flagship phones, most of the major Android manufacturers also offer decent, mid-range versions for those on a tighter budget or with less demanding needs. That said, Apple does provide a few options beside the latest iPhone: They usually put the previous year's iPhone on sale, and has recently been offering the iPhone SE as a smaller, cheaper option for buyers.

For the most part, phones that cost just a few hundred dollars will serve you just as well as those that push closer to a thousand dollars, but you might have to sacrifice some screen resolution, camera quality, or app loading speed along the way. For the phones on your shortlist, check out a few professional online reviews to gauge whether or not you're getting the right value for your money.
Don't forget the refurbed or second-hand option either. Sure, you're getting a handset that might be a little bit worn, but these devices will usually work just as well as the brand-new ones, and the savings can be substantial. Make sure you buy from a reputable source and look for extras like warranties for your refurbed gear.

Older phones are an option here too—when new handsets arrive, the previous generation drops in price, even though they're still very capable handsets. Shop around for flagship phones from the last year or 18 months, and you might be surprised to see what you can pick up on a budget.

Timing

Last but not least, you should also consider the time when you plan to buy. Otherwise, your shiny new handset could be replaced within a few weeks. Apple usually launches new iPhones in September, and Google's Pixels follow soon after. Most other manufacturers refresh their phones around March, though this can vary.

So when you've got your eye on a particular phone, check when it launched. If it's coming up for its one-year anniversary, you might be better off waiting for the next version.
Of course, once you've decided on your dream phone, it'll need a great case to go with it. -Popular Science

Police bust new kidnappers hideout in Ikorodu

Lagos State Police Command early this morning raided and recovered seven army and police bullet proof vests, eight ballistic helmets and nine life jackets from a new kidnappers hideouts in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

The hideout was discovered at about 8:00 a.m yesterday by a team of Ikorodu Special Anti – Robber Squad (SARS) and Volunteer Police led by Superintendent Godfrey Soriweiu.

This success came two weeks after the discovery of a similar hideout in Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

In another development, seven (7) suspected militants arrested by the Military in Ondo were handed over to the Lagos State Police Command also yesterday.

More than 500 migrants plucked from Mediterranean by rescue boat

The migrants crisis (Jonathan Brady/PA)

According to report, more than 500 migrants who were trying to cross the Mediterranean in several small boats that were in danger of capsizing have been rescued at sea.

Spanish aid organisation Proactiva Open Arms said the Golfo Azzurro, a former fishing trawler the group operates, plucked 514 migrants from more than a dozen rubber and wooden boats during a 24-hour period from Saturday to Sunday morning.

Those rescued were refugees fleeing the war in Syria and migrants from sub-Saharan Africa who had set sail from Libya, the group said.
The charity tweeted that the boat had picked up 514 people over 24 hours.

The Golfo Azzurro was operating as part of an NGO rescue fleet co-ordinated by the Italian coastguard.
It returned to an Italian port after bad weather set in.

Also on Sunday, Spain’s maritime rescue service said a rescue boat and helicopter worked together to save three migrants in a small vessel found two miles off the Spanish coast.

Hundreds of thousands of migrants and refugees have crossed the Mediterranean Sea in smugglers’ boats in hope of a better life in Europe, but thousands die each year trying.

Libya is one of the prime launching points.

Son brutally stabs father to death for forgetting fish sauce

Son brutally stabs father to death for forgetting fish sauce

A son reportedly stabbed his father to death because he forgot to add fish sauce to his pork soup.

Sakdin Duangphakhon, 36, first became angry when his father Ngor, 65, boiled the meat too slowly at their home in Buriram, Thailand.

He confronted him, and then flew into a rage when his dad told him he had forgotten to add fish sauce.

Sakdinon grabbed an empty bottle and hit his father over the head, before slapping his 66-year-old mother Pa when she tried to intervene.

Pa ran for help while her son launched a brutal and frenzied attack on Ngor with a kitchen knife on Thursday morning.

When police arrived, they found Sakdin lying calmly in a hammock in front of the family home, covered in his father’s blood.
Deputy Inspector Col Nitipat Kitichartchai said: ‘The father volunteered to cook the pork.

The son went to drink some liquor and then wanted to eat the food. But the dad said it was not finished, not cooked yet and it will not be delicious if they eat now.

‘The son did not want to wait. Then he said he forgot the fish sauce and he became angry.’
Sakdin, who has two brothers, has admitted murder and has been sent to Amphore Nangrong prison in Buriram to await sentencing.

Fani-Kayode to Obanikoro: Where is your dignity in joining APC?

Controversial spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation for the 2015 elections, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has faulted the decision of a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, to join the All Progressives Congress.
Obanikoro was appointed Minister by the Peoples Democratic Party regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
However, reports in the media have it that Obanikoro had concluded arrangements to join the APC.

The move started about two months ago with the visit of Obanikoro to a National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahed Tinubu, with whom he fell out several years back.
Both disagreed over the governorship ticket of the defunct Alliance for Democracy, which later transformed to the Action Congress of Nigeria and then became part of the parties that formed the APC.
However, Fani-Kayode is of the opinion that Obanikoro had behaved leas than the man of conviction he should be with his decision to join the APC.
He said in a statement on Sunday: “My brother Musiliu Obanikoro’s decision to join the APC irks and saddens me. I say this because I have always loved him and I care.
“You cannot fight evil by joining it. You cannot bring light by entering the darkness. You cannot find joy by partaking in the bread of sorrows.
You cannot run away in the heat of battle. You must have the courage of your convictions. Where is your honor? Where is your strength? Where is your dignity? Where is your self-respect? Where is your sense of self-worth?
“You and I are royalty. We are Princes and Kings and children of the Living God. We were taught and brought up to fight to the end and never to bow to the enemy.
“We were taught never to flinch before oppression. We were taught never to give in to our worst fears and to those who hate us and who despise our people. We were taught never to crawl on the floor and be slaves to our fellow men.
“Always remember that rebellion against a tyrant is an act of obedience to God. They may have today but tomorrow belongs to us.
“Finally take note of this: if you are not ready to die for something then you are not worthy of living for anything.
“I would rather die a free man than live a slave. And as long as I live the Yoruba, nay the south, shall offer some form of resistance to our collective oppressors and as surely as God lives we shall never be slaves.”

7 things you should never share on Facebook

Here are six things you absolutely should never post.

1. Your driver’s licence

When you pass your driving test, refrain from uploading proof to Facebook. Your licence will show your date of birth, picture and address – all the information thieves would love to copy before they attempt to steal your identity.

2. Your holiday plans

Share enough holiday snaps until your heart’s content – just don’t post anything online about when you’re going away and how long for. This information is gold for burglars.

3. For that matter, your boarding pass

That barcode on your boarding pass isn't generic, it contains plenty of information about you that would be useful to an identity thief.
A blog post by KrebsOnSecurity says:
Two-dimensional barcodes and QR codes can hold a great deal of information, and the codes printed on airline boarding passes may allow someone to discover more about you, your future travel plans, and your frequent flyer account
4. How you really feel about your boss

Because employers have Facebook too, and it’s sod’s law they’ll find out that you snuck out of work early last week and made them a coffee with gone-off milk.

5. Stuff about your kids

It's up to each individual parent to decide if they want to upload photos of their children online. But if you do, make sure you don't upload anything that could suggest what school they go to, like their school unifrom.

6. Details about your house

If you spend all day sprucing up the house, you might want to bask in your glory by sharing a photo online. Just make sure you don't give away the layout of your home. A burglar's blueprint.

7. Anything else you might regret

Avoid posting anything you might regret in a few years time if it comes back to haunt you. This includes writing anything when drunk.

Nigerians share before-and-after photos of Buhari, lament frail looks

Nigerians have expressed concerns on how much the physical appearance of President Muhammadu Buhari has changed over the past few months.

While comparing the 2015 and 2017 photos of the President on social media last week, concerned citizens bemoaned the President’s frail looks.
The two photos, placed side by side and trending online, showed Buhari looking significantly leaner in one than the other.

The President also appeared pale and shaven-headed in the frail-looking picture, with his native hat slouched over his forehead.

Again, several Nigerians took to the comments section of a video posted on PUNCH’s Facebook page, in which Buhari was seen attending Juma’at prayers on Friday, to express concerns over the President’s uncharacteristic gait and fragile appearance.

Omitibayo Adetoro said, “Today, I tried to look at Muhammadu Buhari with the following questions on my mind: What if he were my father and in this condition. How would I have felt?

“What if he were my brother, uncle, grandfather or friend? How would I have felt? What if I were the person in his condition with such excruciating pain? How would I have felt?

“These questions made me reflect deeply and empathise with him. They made me feel sympathy for him, his family, friends and associates. Today, I looked at him and realised that before us is an elderly man, who is ill and he deserves our sympathy and prayers, no matter our political, ethnic or religious differences.”

Another Nigerian, Chimdi Ukeka Chai, said, “The father of our nation is really sick, looks frail and weak. May God heal you and restore strength to your bones and flesh. If it’s rest you need, and (if) I’m in the position to approve (some time off), I will give you more than the days you ask for, while (Vice-President Yemi) Osibanjo continues to stand in for you in acting capacity till you fully recover.”

Ogazi Emeka Marcillinus wrote, “I would never wish Buhari or any human being evil, but as I can see in this video, this man is not well. Please, he should take care of himself.”

Okey Egwuogu expressed similar concerns, saying although no one wished the President ill, “you all can see that he’s in a sorry state.”

Egwuogu added, “The cabal just wants to remain relevant, hence they are ‘stage-managing’ him (I guess against his wishes). Please, Aisha (Buhari) should let the cabal know that they will be held responsible for whatever happens to her husband.”
Similarly, Kinggerald Amiesia said, “Why are they ‘stage-managing’ him? In my good, honest opinion, he should resign. There is no presidential title in the afterlife. You people should allow him to rest.”

Paul Ogheneruemu, said, “This video has proven that Buhari is not feeling fine. He needs rest. The situation of Nigeria is beyond human comprehension. To rule Nigeria is not by force.”

Michael Philip Udoh added, “This man is visibly frail, staggering between steps. Can he just not save himself from the power-hungry cabal and face his health?”

Brave Achiever said, “Honestly, from the video, it shows he’s not feeling fine.  I really wish you quick recovery sir.”

Yoruba actor, Pastor Ajidara, is dead

His wife, Atinuke Adesanya, who confirmed the death to PREMIUM TIMES said the actor died at Mercy Hospital, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, where he was receiving dialysis treatment.

Mr. Adesanya’s family had two days ago called for financial support of N12million from the public, following his doctor’s recommendation that he would need a kidney transplant to survive.

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, on Saturday, condemned the rape of a six-month-old baby, stressing that the culprit must be made to face the music.

The infant, who is now eight months old, was allegedly violated by 30-year-old Muktakar Muhammad, assisted by his wife.

Mrs. Buhari, who paid the baby a visit at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano State, described the rape case as man’s inhumanity to man.

She also commended the Kano State Government for taking measures to save the life of the minor.

The Emir of Kano, who visited the hospital earlier, urged security agencies and the state government to ensure that the culprits were brought to book.

The monarch consoled the parents of the baby and promised that the Emirate Council would do its best to ensure the welfare of the child and her parents.

The Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, in a statement, said the state government had vowed to get justice for the baby.

Garba said, “We are deeply saddened by a story of a six-month old baby girl, allegedly raped by a close confidant in Kano. The government of Kano says it will make whoever is found guilty the first to pay the supreme price of life imprisonment.

“Already, (Governor Abdullahi) Ganduje has directed the state Ministry of Justice to handle the matter properly by ensuring that it is delivered to the letter.

“Whoever is involved in this sordid sexual crime will be prosecuted under the relevant provision contained in the Kano State Penal Code Amendment Law, referred to as the ‘Principal Law’ as amended under section 283.”

The state government assured the baby’s parents and sympathisers that appropriate legal action would be taken, while promising that the state would bear the cost of the victim’s medical treatment. - Punch

Ex- Militant Leader, Tompolo Loses Three Cases Against EFCC

Justice E. A. Obile of the Federal High Court, Warri Division, Delta State, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 struck out the last of the three cases instituted by a former Niger Delta militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo (also known as Tompolo) and others against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

In the suit, FHC/WR/CS/172/2015, the applicants among other reliefs prayed the court for an order restraining EFCC from declaring Keston Pondi, a director in Tompolo’s company wanted and also for an order nullifying letters of invitation extended to Pondi by the anti-graft agency. The applicants further prayed the court to order EFCC to direct all enquiries regarding the matter being investigated by the agency in writing to Pondi, while he is to provide written responses.

The case was, however, struck out for lack of diligent prosecution by the applicants. This is because the case was abandoned after a sister case with similar facts involving Tompolo (Suit No: FHC/WR/CS/171/2015) had been struck out based on the preliminary objection filed by the Commission.

It will be recalled that Justice Obile had earlier on Thursday, April 13, 2017 dismissed a case, suit No: FHC/WR/CS/171/2015, by Tompolo against the EFCC and its former head of operation, Lagos Office, Iliyasu Kwarbai, following the preliminary objection by the Commission.

Tompolo had by the said suit sought for an order restraining the EFCC from declaring him wanted and also for an order nullifying the letters of invitation extended to him by the Commission. He further prayed the court to order the EFCC to direct all enquiries to him in writing, while he provides written responses.

In a similar fashion, Justice Obile had earlier on December 15, 2017 upheld a preliminary objection by the EFCC in striking out a case, suit No: FHC/W/CS/152/2015, against Commission by a company purportedly owned by Tompolo, Mieka Dive Limited.

Tompolo had in that suit invited the court to declare the freezing of his company accounts (Mieka Dive) as unlawful, illegal and a violation of his fundamental rights to ownership and possession of property in Nigeria. The applicants also requested the court to unfreeze the said accounts and make an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Commission from further freezing, confiscating and/or depriving the applicants’ access to the funds in the accounts, while asking for a cost of N100million as damages against the Commission.

The court in upholding the preliminary objection, held that the EFCC cannot be restrained from performing its statutory duties and that the applicants cannot use the court as a shield in evading investigation and possible prosecution.

“To do otherwise, would amount to granting the applicants judicial fiat”, the judge held.
