Nigerian business woman assassinated in Edo state, two arrested

Gunmen suspected to be hired assassins shot and killed a businesswoman in Benin, Edo State. The deceased identified as Mrs Pat Oyo Omo-Osagie was trailed by her assailants to her residence located along Adesuwa road, GRA, Benin. Until her death, the middle-aged woman operated a provision/snacks store along Agenmomen road.

Some family members and neighbours who described the incident as shocking and unfortunate, said the deceased was just returning from her shop when the gunmen trailed and shot her at the entrance of her residence.
"From the look of things, it’s like they were at the gate there waiting for her. They didn’t take anything from her car. She has a heart of gold. Her heart is like glass, you can see through her. She’s such a nice person,” a sympathiser, Mrs Mata Ojeikere said.
The state commissioner of police, Haliru Gwandu, who confirmed the the incident, disclosed that two men have been arrested in connection with the the incident. Gwandu said the police are investigating if the two suspects were involved in the killing of late Mrs. Omo-Osagie.

See what mobs did to this white man in Lagos

There was a major controversy in the comemrcial city of Lagos on Tuesday after a foreign expatriate identified simply as Mr Zcent, narrowly escaped death after he visited his prospective gay friend he met on Facebook to advance his s*xual lust in Lagos.
According to a report by P.M Express, the white man was brutally attacked, battered and dumped by angry residents at the Catholic Church land at Ori-Oke in Ejigbo area of Lagos.
It was gathered that the incident happened at the weekend after Zcent left his Lagos Island home and visited the friend in Ejigbo whom he had talked into gay practice through Facebook.
When he arrived in Ejigbo where he and his friend had fixed an appointment, he was suddenly surrounded by some youths who had already known his mission in the area.
When he arrived, he was forced out of his car and taken to the Catholic Church land where he was stripped, tortured, disgraced and left to his fate.
The operatives of the Nigerian Police were the ones who saved the day for him after the matter was reported at the Ejigbo Division.
While speaking to a correspondent, some residents at the Ori-oke area where the incident happened, confirmed the attack, saying that the man wanted to engaged one of the residents into gay practice through Facebook.
He was pressurising the friend to come to his Lagos Island home for the s*x romp and promised to pay him certain amount of money in dollars. However, the friend declined and invited him to come to Ejigbo where he reportedly mobilized some youths and attacked him.

How LASU Pro-Chancellor Uses the Institution for Self-Aggrandizement

Professor Adebayo M.A. Ninalowo, the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Governing Council of the Lagos State University (LASU), was appointed to the office last year but Sahara Reporters has learnt, that he has used the position mainly for self-aggrandizement, including accruing properties to himself at the expense of the institution, and serving the interest of his family members and cronies.
Some of his colleagues who spoke to Saharareporters on the conduct of Mr. Ninalowo described a pattern of eschewing university rules and operating in “total secrecy.”
One of them said that the autocratic nature of the pro-chancellor has made other members of the Governing Council withdraw from council meetings. He added that even when they showed up for meetings, it was merely to “keep cool and watch the Pro-Chancellor dictate and impose his opinions on the Council.”
The pro-chancellor, who is also a senior lecturer at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), upon his appointment by the state government demanded an official car, a driver, and personal assistant. These privileges seem appropriate perks that come with being a pro-chancellor, except that Prof. Ninalowo had sought the opportunity as a meal ticket for himself and allies.
The professor of social conflicts insisted on employing one of his relatives as a personal assistant, rejecting qualified University secretaries deployed to his office by the university.
Our correspondent learned from sources in the university that although the Lagos state government provided the pro-chancellor with an SUV as his official vehicle, he pressured the LASU management to purchase a brand-new Toyota Camry car also as an official vehicle.
The Camry, which it was learned cost the university ten million naira, was purchased from one Alhaji Ganiu Ninalowo, sole owner of Messrs Fair-Way Motors Limited, who is suspected to be a relative of the pro-chancellor.
The source claimed that the university had to engage the service of Alhaji Ninalowo at the insistence of the pro-chancellor. He added that the university has its accredited car dealer, but the management was forced to look elsewhere to satisfy the professor.
He said that a similar scenario played out when the pro-chancellor also rejected the university-accredited insurance company for one Penguin Insurance Brokers, whose Executive officer, Alhaji Jamiu Adio Saka, was found to be a very close ally of the Pro-Chancellor.
Penguin Insurance Brokers, after collecting a premium of N400,000, later transferred the insurance to LASSACO Assurance Plc., a LASU-accredited insurance company, the source informed our correspondent.
He further stated that the professor Ninalowo rejected all recommended university dealers to either cover up the suspicion that the car might have been a used or pre-owned car foisted as a newly acquired automobile. Our source stated that the Lagos State government has since impounded the illicitly acquired car from Ninalowo and returned it to the University where it is currently parked. Prof. Bayo Ninalowo
Saharareporters also learned that one Mr. Adara-Ali currently serves as the Pro-Chancellor’s personal assistant, having rejected all the Senior Assistant Registrars sent to him in any official capacity. Our investigation found that the university structure does not even provide for the portfolio of a personal assistant. A source in the university told our correspondent that Prof. Ninalowo did not only create the new office for his cousin, he also put him on the same salary scale with those who have been in service for a minimum of 8 years.
SaharaReporters also found out that the pro-chancellor gets a monthly allowance of N103,767.33 for the services of non-existing driver and security guard. After receiving their salaries directly, the Pro-Chancellor would still force LASU to provide him with a driver and security whenever he needed them.   Professor Ninalowo did not answer our call to him to hear his side of the allegations, dropping the phone from our correspondent upon hearing Saharareporters. He didn’t answer a repeat call at all.Used Vehicle Police report Toyota Camry document info for Prof. Ninalowo's car

I love my husband, will endure the humiliations, woman tells court

“My mother-in-law wants her son to throw me out his house after he impregnated his girlfriend,” a 29-year-old petty trader, Adegbite Aderayo, told an Agege Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday.
She said her mother-in-law had pressured her son, Shotunde Gbenga, to send her out of their matrimonial home.
Aderayo, a resident of No. 7, Joseph Campbell St., Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, said the move began when her husband impregnated his ex-girlfriend and brought her home to live with them.
She said, “Sometimes in July 2014, my husband brought his ex-girlfriend to my mother-in-law’s house for child christening.
“I later discovered that the child was my husband’s baby after she moved into our house with the support of my mother-in-law.
“I had to move to my father-in-law’s house when life became unbearable for me after my husband travelled to South Africa in December 2014.”
She told the court that Gbenga impregnated another woman while in South Africa with the full support of the mother who called to inform her of the “good news”.
The respondent described her husband as an irresponsible man.
She said, “He refused to grow as he still lives in his mother’s house even after marrying his wives.
“My husband is immature and is a puppet in his mother’s hands.; my husband beats me on the orders of his mother and threatened to deal with me if l refuse to move out of my father-in-law’s house.”
The estranged wife broke down in tears, saying “I still love him in spite of all these humiliations; I will endure and bear all the pains.
“I am not ready for the dissolution of the marriage.”
Gbenga, 30, of Akute area of Ogun, who filed the suit to end his three-year-old marriage, said he was fed up.
He said, “There is no love lost between us again. My wife is not truthful and she keeps fighting my mother.
“She is not submissive and does not respect my mother; she is promiscuous as different men call her on phone.”
He boy urged the court to dissolve the union and also order the wife to move out of his father’s house since the man had died.
The President of the court, Mr Phillips Williams, admonished the petitioner for being irresponsible and having three wives at his age.
He adjourned the case to March 28.

Single women healthier, happier than married women —Study

A new study from Italy has concluded that single women are not only happier, they are also healthier than married women!
Lead researcher, Dr. Caterina Trevisan, of the University of Padua in Italy, said the presence of a husband made women “more likely to feel stressed and find their role restrictive and frustrating.”
The new study shows that as Italian widows age, they have better lives than wives.
The study suggests that widows suffer less stress and physical frailty than women whose husbands are still alive.

Trevisan added: “Since women generally have a longer lifespan than men, married women may also suffer from the effects of caregiver burden, since they often devote themselves to caring for their husbands in later life.”

She also pointed out that there’s a lower risk of depression in unmarried women.
Single women also have less anxiety, greater job satisfaction and higher activity levels at work; while they also maintained stronger relationships with family or friends, the scientist said.

Finally, widows cope better than widowers with the stress deriving from the loss of a partner and widowhood.
Many studies have shown that women are less vulnerable to depression than men in widowhood, probably because they have greater coping resources and are better able to express their emotions.
Trevisan believes that women tend to be independent as they age.

“Left alone, women can take care of themselves better than men, especially when it comes to people who were over 65 in 1995.

“Managing the family’s social life makes them less likely to be isolated after grieving for their deceased husbands,” she submitted.
On the other hand, women who remain married and got older, “often have an assistance role towards their husbands” and this can be wearing.
Losing their husbands relieves them of this “burden” which puts them in better condition than their married peers.

Elderly spinsters were also more physically robust and less likely to suffer weight loss and exhaustion than women who were married.

Grandmother Sells Three-Year-Old Girl To Pay Rent

A 50-year-old grandmother, Rita Eze, has confessed to being a member of a syndicate that allegedly involved in abducting children from Lagos and selling them in Anambra State.

Eze was paraded along with one Ogochi Nwekei and Gladys Augustine at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday. The fourth suspect, Elizabeth, who was said to be ill, was not paraded.

Punch Metro had reported that Augustine, who claimed to be Mary John, connived with one Samuel, who is at large, to abduct three-year-old Oluwasemilore Adebiyi, from her parents’ residence in the Alagbado area of Lagos.

To hatch the plan, 28-year-old Augustine enrolled for beads-making apprenticeship at Oluwasemilore’s mother’s shop in January, giving her name as Mary John. She fled to Anambra with the girl seven days after.

The girl was handed over to Eze, who confessed to selling her to Elizabeth through Nwekei, for N500,000. Oluwasemilore was, however, recovered by the police after Augustine was arrested in the Badagry area of Lagos on February 23.

Punch Metro had further reported that some parents from different parts of the state had stormed the command and identified Augustine as the abductor of their children, saying the suspect adopted the same gimmick with which Oluwasemilore was abducted.

The victims included four-year-old Farouk and his sister, Kafayat, 6, who were allegedly abducted in the Okokomaiko area in November 2016. The children had yet to be found.

But Augustine denied abducting the kids, saying, Oluwasemilore was her first abduction. She said Samuel had lied to her that he and Oluwasemilore’s mother, Tobiloba Adebiyi, gave birth to the girl, but she (Tobiloba) denied him access to the girl.

The Cross River State indigene stated that Samuel introduced Eze to her as his mother and promised her N50,000 if the plan worked out.

She said, “I came to Lagos in 2010 and I worked as a housemaid. I used the money I got to open a shop. Eventually, I was sent away from the shop and I needed money to start another business. I met Samuel at Mowo bus stop in Badagry in January.

“He said he impregnated a woman and the woman (Tobiloba) left him to marry another man. He said he wanted to get back the child, but the woman refused. He asked me to work for the woman in order to snatch the child and he promised to give me N50,000. On the day I snatched  the girl, I took her to a bus stop and bought her a snack.

“When I took the girl to Samuel, he said I should take her to his mother, Mrs. Eze, in Anambra. He said he would tell the girl’s mother that he was the one who took her. I later returned to Lagos, thinking he had told the woman. I was surprised when the police arrested me.”

The grandmother, Eze, told Punch Metro that she took N40,000 from the proceed, gave Augustine N60,000 and sent the remaining sum to Samuel. She added that she used the money to pay the rent on her apartment.

She said, “I met Michael in December 2016 at a party in Awka through a secondary school friend, who is an aunt to him. He told me that he impregnated a woman in Lagos and that he would send the child to me to help take care of her. When Gladys (Augustine) brought the girl, Samuel told me to sell her for N500,000.

“I informed Ogochi (Nwekei) and she said one of her friends, Elizabeth, wanted to buy a child. Elizabeth paid N500,000. Samuel told me to give Augustine N50,000 and another N10,000 for her transport back to Lagos, while I got N40,000. I sent the remaining N400,000 to Samuel. I used the money to pay my house rent. I have five children and grandchildren.”

Sixty-year-old Nwekei said she only facilitated the sale of the girl, claiming that she did not receive anything from the money.

“I told Rita (Eze) that a friend, Elizabeth, wanted to adopt a child and she promised to call me whenever she got one. One day, she called me that a child was brought to her. I asked her whether there would not be any problem and she assured me that there would be none. I didn’t know it would turn out this way,” she added.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, while briefing journalists on the arrest, said the suspects would subsequently be charged to court.

Nigerian man who pretended to be son of a King and sexually assaulted teen girls he groomed online jailed in the UK

A 27-year-old unemployed Nigerian national who groomed two teenage girls online and sexually assaulted them, has been jailed.

Taheeb Udusole, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Tuesday 14 March to seven years imprisonment for three counts of sexual activity with a child under 16; one count against a 14-year-old, two against a 15-year-old.

He also received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order [SOPO] and will be deported at the end of his sentence.

Udusole had appeared for trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, 13 March charge with rape against each victim, but changed his plea to guilty for the for three counts of sexual activity with a child, which was accepted.

The conviction and sentencing follows an investigation by the Met's Child Sexual Exploitation Team. Detective Sergeant Laura Hillier, the investigating officer, said:
"Taheeb Udusole is a predator who claimed that he believed the girls were adult because neither arrived in school uniform. Both girls had told Udusole their age and he continued to force them to have sex regardless".

"Unaware that they were victims, these girls have gone through a traumatic experience and should be proud of the strength of character they have shown during the investigation and approaching trial. I hope that today's sentence brings them a measure of comfort and closure and that they can move on with their lives.

"We cannot be certain that there are not more victims who have suffered from the actions of this man who have not yet come forward. I would urge anyone who has been a victim to contact police immediately by dialling 101."

Udusole had met the victims on social media. Initially he claimed to be a 17-year-old boy named Daniel, who was rich due to his father being an African King. He later increased his age to 19, but in reality was an unemployed 27-year-old.

He would typically offer gifts and money to his victims, and then send taxis to collect each victim so they could be brought to him to collect their gifts. Udusole would then have the taxi bring them to an address near his home in east London to try and prevent his victims from knowing where he actually lived.

The victims, who did not know each other, each believed that 'Daniel' was their boyfriend. Both made their allegations against him independently and it was the method Udusole used to meet and groom his victims that led to the Child Sexual Exploitation Team to taking on the investigation, and linking the two cases.

On 5 May 2016 Udusole was arrested by officers. He was initially charged on 6 May with one count of rape against his 15-year-old victim, a further count against the 14-year-old subsequently followed.

Stephanie Otobo drags Apostle Suleman to police

Read the petition below...

Miss. Stephanie Otobo,
Lekki, Lagos.
Monday, March 13, 2017
The Commissioner of Police,
The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos State.
Dear Sir,

PETITION AGAINST APOSTLE JOHNSON SULEMAN FOR ILLEGAL PROCUREMENT OF ABORTION, THREAT TO LIFE AND ATTEMPTED MURDER.
Sir, my name is Miss Stephanie Otobo, and I wish to bring a formal complaint to you against one Apostle Johnson Suleman as follows:
That sometime in June 2015, Apostle Suleman Johnson and I started an amorous relationship in far away Canada. The relationship was nurtured by Apostle Suleman who inundated me with cash gifts and pleasure trips all over Europe.
In particular, I was invited by Apostle Suleman to join him for his crusade that was held in 2015 at Napoli, Italy, the full expenses for the trip was paid for by the gentleman. While in Napoli, Apostle Suleman would preach and do “miracle” in the day time and take the much needed rest in my bosom at night.
Napoli was our love nest for three (3) good days and after the crusade Apostle Suleman left Napoli and I also returned to Canada.
Shortly after the Napoli experience, I discovered that I was pregnant for Apostle Suleman. I called my lover to inform him of the pregnancy but Apostle Suleman was not particularly excited about the news rather he requested that I should come to Nigeria.
Based on Apostle Suleman’s instruction I left Canada for Nigeria to meet Apostle Suleman. It is important to note that despite the amorous relationship, I saw Apostle Suleman like a father figure who takes care of me and to whom I was extremely obedient to.
I arrived Nigeria on the 25th of August, 2015 and clandestine arrangement was made for the two (2) of us to meet and consequently, I met Apostle Suleman at Definite Destiny Hotel, beside Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State. It was at the hotel that I was given a concoction to drink by Apostle Suleman who told me that the concoction was for my spiritual fortification. But in less than ten (10) minutes after drinking the concoction, I started vomiting blood and passing out blood. Apostle Suleman then gave me pills to stop the blood though the blood did not stop immediately but the pain subsided and the pregnancy was gone.
I was devastated by the development and Apostle Suleman gave me cash gifts in three (3) different currencies, to wit; Euro, Dollars and Naira to console and compensate me for the loss of the pregnancy. I could not come to terms with the facts that the man that claimed to love me and promised to marry me, could procure abortion for me without my consent which could have lead to my death.
Unfortunately Apostle Suleman did not stop at procuring abortion for me without my consent but also in a desperate bid to keep the amorous relationship between him and I a secret not known to his teeming followers, Apostle Suleman invented various devices to bully and threaten my life.
It is against this backdrop that I urge you to use your good offices to call for a thorough and dispassionate investigation into the above allegations. I plead with you, in the course of your investigation, to confirm the exchange of all our text messages from the networks, forensic analysis of all the nude pictures we both sent to ourselves (and whether they are, indeed, photo-shopped or authentic), our international passports to confirm the dates and times of our travels, investigation concerning the hotels we slept together both in and out of Nigeria and bank accounts to confirms the transfers of funds.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
MISS. STEPHANIE OTOBO
