NIGERIA IS IN DEEP SHIT !!! Billionaire Atiku Abubakar declares paltry N20m yearly income

“As an individual, I believe my record in employing young Nigerians is unrivalled by any single private investor in Nigeria,” the former vice president said.
He has investments in media, shipping, education, and other sectors. One of the companies, where he has substantial interest is Intels, which recently ran into trouble with the Nigerian government for not remitting revenue due to the Nigerian treasury.
He is also the founder of American University in Yola and has a chain of schools under ABTI brand.

Evans: How SARS operatives killed 30 people while torturing me

Evans: How SARS operatives killed 30 people while torturing me
Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, suspected kidnap kingpin better known as Evans, on Friday narrated how he was allegedly tortured by members of intelligence response team of the inspector general of police (IGP) and the special anti-robbery squad (SARS).
Evans narrated this at the continuation of a trial-within-trial at an Ikeja high court in Lagos where he is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping alongside six others.
NAN said before his testimony, a five-minute, 33-second video recording was played in the courtroom.
The video recording showed Idowu Haruna, a member of the IG’s intelligence response team, sitting beside Evans cautioning him and taking his statement.
Olanrewaju Ajanaku, Evans’ lawyer, however, disputed the validity of the recording by claiming it was heavily edited.
Evans, while being led in evidence by Ajanaku, described himself as a businessman dealing in haulage and ornaments, resident at 3, Fred Soyebode street, Magodo, Lagos.
In a graphic detail, Evans described how he was tortured by police officers after his arrest.
“Insp. Haruna (member of IG’s Intelligence Response Team) took me to Abuja and brought me back to Lagos, where I was at the I-G’s Guest House at Obalende, Lagos,” he said.
“Sunny, the 2 I/C (second in command) to Abba Kyari, Head of the IRT, Mr Christian Ugu, Mr Phillip and other police officers working with them were there.
“Haruna brought about 25 sheets of paper and asked me to sign; that day, my mind told me not to sign because it might be my death warrant. Phillip put his hand in his pocket and brought out a brown hospital card; showed it to me and told me to sign it, saying that ‘do you think that we are joking here?’ he said if anything happens to me here, this card covers everything.
“Phillip said the police will not be held responsible, and before I knew, Ugu slapped me and that was how they started beating me.”
The alleged kidnap kingpin gave more details to the court on how the police officers tortured him and made him witness executions in a bid to get him to admit to his crimes.
He said: “Mr Ugu was smoking, he quenched the cigarette on my hand. My lord, look at my head where they beat me; My Lord, look at my hand.
“They took me to the backyard of the I-G’s guest house; I sustained injuries on my head and body, and Phillip asked the policemen to walk on me and when I started bleeding, he said you think we are joking here.
“At the backyard, I saw some people that I was paraded with; they were wearing leg chains. Some of them had bullet wounds on their legs and Phillip ordered Haruna to bring a big brown cellotape, handkerchief and poly bags.
“Haruna forced a handkerchief into the mouth of one of them; he used the cellotape to tightly tape his mouth and face and put a poly bag over his head and cellotaped it, and used another poly bag and cellotaped it for the second time, and they left the man on the ground.
“The man on the ground was shaking; he pissed (urinated) on his body, he poo-pooed (defecated) on his body and, after a while, he went quiet. Haruna went to the man and stepped on his body and he was unresponsive and he told me can you see I have travelled him.”
Evans told the court that four more persons were executed in the same manner by the police officers in his presence.
“I was brought before them, and I started begging, asking them what do they want me to do, and they told me to cooperate with them, and I said okay that I will do anything they wanted me to do.
“Phillip asked them to take me to the house, and he asked if I knew the method of killing and I said no; they said that it is called ‘Saddam Hussein’.
“He said that there is no way an autopsy can predict the cause of death of the five people they had just killed, and that those people have travelled.”
Evans said after witnessing the execution, the 25 sheets of paper were brought for him to sign by the police.
He noted he was trembling with fear and Sunny, the second in command to Abba Kyari, head of the IGP IRT, asked Haruna to offer him a can of cold Fanta.
“When the Fanta was given to me, I drank it and after a few minutes, they brought the 25 sheets of paper for me and I signed them,” he said.
“Some things were written on some of the sheets of paper while some were blank; that was how I was forced to sign the confessional statements.”
On cross-examination by Titilayo Shitta-Bey, Lagos state director of public prosecution (DPP), Evans confirmed his name and the names of his parents, and denied knowing the officers before his arrest.
“I am 38-year-old, I was born on April 29, 1980; my mother’s name is Mrs Chinwe Onwuamadike and my father is Mr Stephen Onwuamadike,” he said.
“I did not know Insp. Haruna, Abba Kyari, before my arrest; I’m the one in the video, I was cautioned in the video, but after the cautionary words, I was forced to sign. The story I told the court was never an afterthought, SARS killed more than 30 people in my presence; the killings took place at the I-G’s guest house in Ikoyi.
“On the day I was arrested, I was arrested in my house and I was taken to Ikeja SARS Station; journalists were there; they had beaten the hell out of me in my house, I was interviewed by the journalists on Sunday, a day after I was arrested on Saturday.
“When I was taken to the station, there was a field; I was in a car while I was waiting for Abba Kyari to come. Kyari, when he came, told me to beg for forgiveness in my interview with journalists, and also to inform the world I had cancer which I don’t have. The police killed one Felix Chinemeri in my presence.”
While being re-examined by Ajanaku, his lawyer, Evans said he had not spoken to journalists before he made his alleged confessional statement to the police.
Earlier, during proceedings, Haruna was cross-examined by Ajanaku; he told the court it took more than an hour to obtain Evans’ statement.
Haruna denied that Evans changed his clothes because of blood stains from torture, before the video of Evans giving his confessional statement was made.
He denied editing the five-minute and 33-second video of Evans giving his statement to the police.
“I never threatened to kill the first defendant (Evans), and I never created fear in him by killing people in his
presence,” Haruna said.
Evans is standing trial alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba.
The six were arraigned on August 30, 2017, on two counts of conspiracy and kidnapping of Donatus Dunu, chief executive officer of Maydon Pharmaceutical Limited, from whose family they allegedly collected 223,000 Euros (N100 million) as ransom.
Evans and his co-defendants had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Hakeem Oshodi adjourned the case until November 23 for continuation of defence in the trial-within-trial. - THECABLE

China leads the way as world’s billionaires get richer

China produced two new billionaires a week last year as the fortunes of the world’s ultra-rich soared by a record amount, Swiss banking giant UBS and auditors PwC said Friday.
Billionaires’ wealth enjoyed its greatest-ever increase in 2017, rising 19 percent to $8.9 trillion ($7.8 billion euros) shared among 2,158 individuals, said the report.
But Chinese billionaires expanded their wealth at nearly double that pace, growing by 39 percent to $1.12 trillion.
“Over the last decade, Chinese billionaires have created some of the world’s largest and most successful companies, raised living standards,” said Josef Stadler, head of Ultra High Net Worth at UBS Global Wealth Management.
“But this is just the beginning. China’s vast population, technology innovation and productivity growth combined with government support, are providing unprecedented opportunities for individuals not only to build businesses but also to change people’s lives for the better.”
According to AFP, the report said China minted two new billionaires a week in 2017, while Asia as whole produced more than three billionaires a week.
In the Americas region, the wealth of billionaires increased at a slower rate of 12 percent, to $3.6 trillion, with the United States creating 53 new billionaires in 2017 compared to 87 five years ago.
Currency appreciation saw European billionaires’ wealth grow by 19 percent although the number of billionaires rose by just 4.0 percent to 414.
The study also warned of lower economic growth in the United States and China if the trade war between the two countries escalates.

But for China’s young billionaires “the country’s fundamentals of a huge population and rising technology will continue to offer fertile conditions for entrepreneurs to grow their businesses,” it said. - PM NEWS

Ekiti government seals off house allegedly belonging to Fayose

Two buildings in Ado Ekiti purportedly linked to the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, have been sealed off by the state
government for lack of an approved plan and permit.

The state government, through the Ministry of Housing and Physical Planning and Urban Development, said the erection of the buildings contravened the laws guiding urban renewal regulations of the state government.

Fayose is currently being tried at the Federal High Court, Lagos, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly receiving the sum of N2.99 billion from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, to fund his reelection in 2014.
He is presently being detained at the EFCC custody in Ikoyi, Lagos State despite that he had been granted bail since Wednesday.
The sprawling twin bungalow with an elevated fence, covering over 5 plots, were located at the Government Reservation Area (GRA) in Ado Ekiti and almost adjacent the new Deputy Governor’s lodge located within the Government House.
When journalists visited the building on Friday, the gate to the building was under lock and key while contractors working on the buildings have deserted the place.
A paper dated October 18, which was attached to the gate and signed by the Director of Urban and Regional Planning in the ministry said: “It was discovered during inspection by the inspectorate staff of our Ministry that a residential building by you at GRA has no approved plan/permit for the site or bring same to our office to get certification for the erection.
“You are hereby ordered to suspend the use of the building premises until an approved plan is submitted for clearance”, it stated.
The contractor handling the project began work about four months ago after the buildings erected on the plot were pulled down to give way for the new edifices.
Before Fayose exited office, rumour had been rife that he was the owner of the magnificent buildings.
In his response, Fayose accused Fayemi of embarking on vindictive action over an issue that is not worth government’s attention.
In a statement by his Media Aide, Idowu Adelusi on Friday, Fayose said: “Governor Fayemi is only acting out of desperation, and vengeance over the 2014 shameful electoral defeat.
“The property in question does not belong to Fayose. Fayemi’s government should produce evidence linking the former government to the property.
“Fayose has said he was ready for probe and that he will appear in person before any panel set up by Fayemi. So, why the desperation?
“Our advice is that Fayemi should place high premium on payment of the workers’ salary arrears since N30bn is already in his custody released by the Federal Government and not embarking on witch hunting or disparaging his predecessor. The money should not be used to fund the election petition filed against him.
“He should hurry up to do all he could for the benefit of common Ekiti people because time is not on his side”, Fayose advised. - DAILY POST

RUBBISH TALK !! 2019: Buhari fails to submit academic credentials, insists they’re with military

2019: Buhari fails to submit academic credentials, insists they’re with military
President Muhammadu Buhari has again failed to submit his academic records ahead of the 2019 elections.

The president’s academic credentials are not contained in his personal documents submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), according to PUNCH.
All the aspirants seeking elective positions in the country ought to submit certain documents, including their  academic credentials, to the commission.

But Buhari, a former head of state, was quoted to have said his academic records are with the military board.
In the affidavit, Buhari was quoted as saying: “I am the above named person and the deponent of this affidavit herein.

“All my academic qualification documents as filled in my Presidential form, APC/001/2015 are currently with the Secretary of the Military Board as of the time of this affidavit.”
In 2014, the president had also tendered the same submission in the build up of the 2015 elections.
But the military had denied being in possession of the academic credentials.
Olajide Laleye, then director of army public relations, had said: “Records available indicate that Major General M Buhari applied to join the military as a Form Six student of the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina on 18 Oct 61.

“His application was duly endorsed by the Principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him to be suitable for military commission.
“It is a practice in the NA that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers’ cadre of the Service, the Selection Board verifies the original copies of credentials that are presented. However, there is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s.”
The president had responded by saying the army’s position was mischievous. - THECABLE

The University of Jos chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has said that the institution was under siege with staff and students killed on regular basis.
Dr..Lazarus Maigoro, the chairman, who briefed newsmen on Thursday in Jos, said that the fear-stricken students and staff were always scared of the unknown while in the classes or at their residences
“Everyday, when we leave our homes to come and discharge our duties, there is no guarantee that we will go back home alive.
“We make bold to say that the University of Jos has not known peace since the first major crisis that hit Plateau on Sept. 7, 2001.
“That particular crisis, and subsequent ones, claimed the lives and property of staff and students.
“The recent violence, which hit most parts of Jos town, claimed the lives of two students and one member of staff.
“The violence before it claimed the lives of 11 members of the family of a member of staff when his residence was attacked by gunmen.
“As we speak, one student is still missing while another one is in the hospital nursing a bullet wound.
“Staff and students of the institution have become major targets of hoodlums within and outside the university campus,” he said.
Maigoro said that as a result of inadequate infrastructure and multi-campus nature operated by the university, many members of staff and students live off campus, making them always vulnerable.
“Living in scattered directions make us vulnerable to attacks while going to, or returning from, work or school because the institution is surrounded by violent-prone communities,” he explained.
The union demanded immediate reclamation of all lands belonging to the institution which had been encroached upon illegally on different fronts.
It also challenged security agencies to identify the killers of the students and staff so as to bring them to justice, and called for the creation of a permanent buffer zones around the university to guarantee security of members of its community.
The lecturers also called for the strengthening of the internal security apparatus within the institution for improved efficiency during crisis, and advocated a Special Intervention Fund to erect a perimeter fence around the entire land mass belonging to school.
They also called for the provision of a Special Intervention Fund for the construction of more hostels and staff quarters to reduce the number of those living outside the campus.
The union also called for the creation of alternative routes on campus to aid escape to safety during emergencies.
It also called for an immediate end to the grazing of cattle on the campus, saying that the menace was distracting academic activities and causing lots of anxiety among members of the university community.
ASUU also appealed to the Federal Government to release immediately, the outstanding take-off grant due to the university since its creation more than 40 years ago.

“The release of the grant will facilitate the development of needed infrastructure to bring University of Jos at par with other second generation universities in the country,” the ASUU chairman said. - PM NEWS
