There’s hardship in the land, says emir of Zazzau

There’s hardship in the land, says emir of Zazzau
Shehu Idris, emir of Zazzau, says Nigerians are suffering as a result of “palpable hardship” in the country.

While delivering his Sallah message at his palace in Zaria, Kaduna state, the monarch said intervention is needed at both the federal and state levels.

He enjoined farmers and herders to coexist peacefully and avoid rumours that fuel crisis.

“The suffering requires the attention and assistance of the governments at both federal and state levels,” he said.

“Similarly, we are urging our people to continue to promote peaceful coexistence. Fulani herdsmen and farmers should respect the interest of one another. People are also urged to avoid rumour mongering and give maximum cooperation to security agents.

“Kaduna state, local governments and the house of assembly should take measures that would bring about development in the areas of agriculture, animal husbandry and education.

“If these sectors are giving necessary attention, they are capable of bringing about peaceful coexistence and the end effect is improvement in the lives of our people. ”

He added that buying farm produce in large quantity from farmers would also assist the less privileged.

He advised residents to pay close attention to the movements of their children in order to curb drug abuse  among the youth.

Simon Godwin Idoko: Youngman who graduated with First Class after writing JAMB six times dies few days after NYSC

Simon Godwin Idoko, the young man, who graduated with First Class degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto State is dead.

DAILY POST gathered that Idoko died on Monday at the age of 29 few days after completing his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Idoko was attached to the Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu State, where he served as his Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) in the Chemistry Department as graduate assistant.

The real cause of his death is still sketchy at the moment but sources said his burial is ongoing in his country home, Udaburu Owukpa in Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State.

Speaking on the development, Mr. Emmanuel Odoh, chairman, Udaburu Development Association, Home Branch said the young chemist died Monday morning in Okpokwu LGA after a brief ailment.

“Yes, he died this morning. He’s about to be buried as we speak,” he said amid tears.

Meanwhile, his friends and associates have flooded his Facebook wall with condolences messages.

His childhood friend and kinsman, Ameh Godwin, said he has been sick for days now, but did not give details of the real ailment.

He wrote, “Ogbee! This sounds unbelievable and heartbreaking. You made us proud by graduating with first-class after writing UTME (JAMB) six times, today, you have been snatched by the cold hands of death in a mysterious way.

“We spoke few days ago and you promised you were going to be fine. What happened? Is this the ‘fine’ you assured me? This is sad. What a wicked world.

In April 2018, the Nigerian mediasphere literally went up in flame with the story of the young, resilient and resolute achiever.

Idoko, a native of Udaburu Owukpa, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State, said his dream of becoming a medical doctor or pharmacist was frustrated after sitting for UTME for five times without success.

Still not discouraged, Godwin decided to apply for a different science-related course and was offered to study Applied Chemistry at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto where he graduated with a first-class, garnering a total of 4.75 CGPA.

Man beheads wife, then throws head into canal

A man in Hyderabad India has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife at Srinagar colony in the city.

According to the police, the accused, Pradeep Kumar and the victim Manikranti got married in 2015.

Later, they parted ways due to marital disputes.

On Sunday, Pradeep visited Manikranti’s house and beheaded her, after which he dumped her head in a canal, thehansindia.com reported on Monday.

The CCTV footage showed that the accused was running with a sickle in one hand and the severed head in another hand.

ID of the man who beheaded his wife

Traffic police who saw the accused near a bridge with bloodstains on his shirt informed the police.

The man was then arrested. And for now the police are on a search for the severed head.

Manikranti had filed a case of domestic violence against Pradeep some time ago and he was arrested. Pradeep, who was recently released on bail, resorted to the brutal killing to seek revenge, the police said.

This is not the first time of such an incident in Hyderabad. In July, two men in Telangana murdered a man by beheading him, and then took the severed head to the police station and surrendered.

Hausa leader blows hot over Fulani herdsmen killing of farmer

The Head of Hausa community in Akwa Ibom, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki, has condemned the Aug. 8 killing of Mr Friday Etor, a farmer from Ikot Obio Nso, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the state, by suspected herdsmen.

Sadauki made the condemnation while reacting to the incident, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo on Monday.

The community leader noted that the Hausa/Fulani settlers in the state had coexisted for years with the farmers without any such incident.

“It very sad indeed; we are not praying for such a thing to happen again.

“We the Hausa/Fulanis that reside within this very environmen have been enjoying very peaceful coexistence with the host community,” Sadauki said.

He charged the Hausas/Fulanis residents in the State to be law abiding and report any misunderstanding they might have with the people to their leaders in the state for peaceful settlement.

Sadauki reminded them that there could be no meaningful development in any atmosphere of rancor and misunderstanding among the different ethnic groups in the state.

“There was no reason for the killing and attack; though as human, even in one family we are bound to have one misunderstanding or the other because of individual interests.

“So it is very uncalled for to lose a life. We pray that relevant security agencies will do their best to bring the perpetrators to book.

“No matter the level of misunderstanding, there should be a peaceful way to dialogue and find a way out of such a situation. We have the Myetti Allah in the state which represents the Fulani herdsmen.

“In case of any misunderstanding, they should bring it to th notice of Myetti Allah for peaceful settlement, instead of taking laws into their hands. I can recall that in the past, we have settled such misunderstandings amicably.

“I pray that we coexist in peace and harmony. I pray to the Almighty that this should be the last; we should not be having crisis among ourselves

“I use this medium to draw the attention of our faithful to the fact that they should be law abiding citizens,” he said.

A 43-year old bus driver has committed suicide at a mechanic workshop in Shomolu area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The victim, Kabiru Bello reported drank sniper, an insecticide.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Bala Elkana, in a statement on Monday said the incident occurred on Saturday.

“On Saturday, at about 1256hrs, Shomolu Pedro Police Station received an information that one Kabiru Bello ‘m’ 43yrs old, of No 77 Owode Ibeshe, Ikorodu Lagos allegedly drank a liquid substance suspected to be sniper chemical in his Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number AKD 724 XM, while at a mechanic workshop at Ladylack Bus stop, Shomolu.

“He was rushed to Adesola Clinic, Shomolu where he was confirmed dead. Homicide detectives visited the scene. One empty bottle of chemical substances suspected to be sniper was recovered. The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command said it has recovered two single barrel guns from fleeing armed robbery suspects.

According to Elkana, the incident occurred on Saturday.

“On Saturday, at about 2130hrs, Ilemba Hausa Police Station received a distress call that one Wale Lawal was dispossessed of his laptop by some armed robbers.

“A team of policemen deployed to the scene gave the hoodlums a hot chase and they abandoned their black Honda vehicle with registration number: Lagos KJA 705 BU.

Minimum wage: Implementation may be delayed as Nigerian govt gives reason

The Federal Government has attributed the delay in the implementation of the “Consequential Adjustment” of the N30,000 new minimum wage to the unrealistic demands of labour unions.

The Chairman, National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Chief Richard Egbule, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.

Egbule explained that the current demand of the labour unions would raise the total wage bill too high and that was why government could not accept their proposed salary adjustments.

“Labour is asking for consequential adjustment and government in its wisdom had made budgetary provision for an adjustment of N10, 000 across board for those already earning above N30, 000 per month.

“However, the Unions have refused this offer, saying that because the increase in minimum wage from 18,000 to N30, 000 was 66 per cent, therefore they want 66 percent increment across board.

“We told them that the minimum wage was not raised from N18, 000 to N30, 000 through percentage increase but as a result of consideration of economic factors including ability to pay.

“However, we said that if they want consequential adjustments in percentage terms, we will use a percentage that when applied will not exceed what has been provided for in the budget.

“The computation based on percentage which government had given to labour, was 9.5 per cent from level 7 to 14 including level 1-6 of those salary structures that did not benefit from the minimum wage.

“And then five percent from level 15 to 17. Labour countered the offer and proposed 30 per cent increase for level 7 to 14 and 25 per cent for level 15 to 17.

“One point we keep repeating is, it will be unfair that because you gave the person earning minimum wage N12, 000, you give a level 17 officer almost N100, 000 if you apply 25 percent,’’ he said.

Egbule added that at the last meeting between the Federal Government and the labour unions, the government proposed a 10 per cent increment for level seven to 14 and a 5.5 per cent increase for level 15 to 17.

He advised labour to come to a compromise because government had so far been magnanimous in agreeing to increase salaries without any threat of downsizing.

“Labour is currently stretching out and eating up the time that people could have used in benefiting from the adjustment because the new minimum wage was implemented since April.

“My advice is for labour to accept the terms for now and prepare to fight for the harmonization of salaries that is coming up. Harmonization of salaries will take care of this issue.

“The committee has already been formed and awaiting inauguration. I want them (labour) to know this and liberate us from this unnecessary log jam,” he said.

Robbers ‘invade police barracks’ in Delta

Suspected armed robbers have dispossessed residents of the “B Police Barracks” along Benin-Onitsha expressway in Asaba, Delta state, of their belongings.

The SUN quoted some of the residents as saying the suspects have been taking advantage of the darkness at the barracks occasioned by lack of electricity supply to carry out the act.

The transformer serving the barracks was reportedly vandalised about two months ago.

“Since then, robbers have been coming here to dispossess us of our property. We have lost power generating sets, handsets laptops and personal effects to the dreaded thieves,” a female resident was quoted as saying.

“There is uncleared vegetation at the other side of the barrack, through which they gain access to the barrack. They have been tormenting us lately. They come through the bush, and because there is no power supply, everywhere is always dark, so we cannot see them coming in.”

Another resident reportedly said they contributed N3,000.00 each to fix the vandalised transformer but that, since one month ago that they took the step, nothing has changed.

“Our lives are under serious threat as a result of darkness which the hoodlums are taking advantage of. We are very worried at the moment. We have not heard anything since we contributed money to fix the vandalized transformer,” the person was quoted to have said.

The residents appealed to the state police command to investigate the matter and “save us from the hands of these tormentors”.

However, Adeyinka Adeleke, commissioner of police in the state, dismissed the issue of robbery but admitted that the barrack had been in darkness due to the vandalised transformer.

LAGOS MOLUE !!! Seadogs laments poor services of airline operators in Nigeria

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), Ikeja branch has lamented poor services of airline operators in the country and called on the regulatory agencies in the aviation sector to check their excesses.

The association also known as Pyrates Confraternity alleged that some of the multiple flight diversions due to bad weather and aerodrome closure during sunset are as a result of inadequate or non-functional ground navigational equipment such as ground-to-air radar, Instrument Landing System, VHF Omni directional Range, among others.

A statement issued on Sunday, signed by Mr Iheanyi Konkwo decried the increasing rate of flight cancellations or delays without compensating passengers and noted that recent cases in Kano, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Owerri, Benin, Asaba, Ilorin and Enugu airports, among others, were worrisome.

The organisation, therefore, urged the regulatory agencies, namely the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority and Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, to enforce the sanctions on erring airlines so as to bring sanity to the sector.

“Flight delays have become regular narratives at the local airports across the country without explanations to passengers who might have incurred financial lose or undergone emotional stress.

“The nation’s leading local operator (name withheld) has become the major culprit as they flagrantly delay or cancel flight schedules. The truth should be told, if airlines are made to compensate passengers for flight delays or cancellation, they will sit up.

“Within a spate of one week, passengers in the Kano, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Owerri, Benin, Asaba, Akure, Ilorin and Enugu airports have either experienced outright flight cancellation or delayed flight schedules for an upward of four hours. This is quite disheartening.”

“At the moment, most air passengers hold the view that they are being taken for granted. Who’s at fault? The regulatory agencies need to wake up. Today’s problem will continue to expand if not addressed.”

The association also called on the regulatory bodies to monitor the functionality of equipment at the airports, especially during night flights. It also tasked the regulatory bodies to ensure that basic infrastructure facilities in the airports were functioning.

“The Nigerian aviation industry has been taken 40 years behind compared with their counterparts in other climes. Passengers blame airlines for operational anomalies, but the regulatory authorities also have their blames.

The group, however, called on regulatory agencies to wake up to its responsibilities in this regard, “Only four airports in Nigeria have partially functional navigational ground equipment.

“They are Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano. The rest airports are Visual Flight Rules airports and that is why you cannot land in Owerri, Benin, Asaba, Akure, Ilorin, Enugu, Warri, and the others at sunset,” the organization stating, adding that the statement was a wakeup call to the airline operators and regulatory agencies to change their approach to enhance services.

Again, police stray bullet kills tailor in Lagos

A 30-year-old tailor, Busayo Owoodun, has been killed by a stray bullet fired by the police in Lagos.

The Anti-Kidnapping Squad attached to ‘M’ Command, Idimu, were said to be on the trail of some kidnap suspects when the hoodlums allegedly attacked them along Ijegun-Isolo road.

In retaliation, police said it opened fire on the hoodlums and Owoodun was allegedly hit by a stray bullet.

The police claimed three officers, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, were injured by the hoodlums.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bala Elkana, said the Commissioner of Police, Muazu Zubairu, had order investigation into the incident.

He added that the CP had condoled with Owoodun’s family.

He said, “A stray bullet hit one Busayo Owoodun. The gang with the support of some notorious cultists in the area, attacked the police team and injured the leader, ASP Victor Ugbegun, and two others who are currently in critical condition at the intensive care unit of a hospital.

“With reinforcements from Operations Department, Rapid Response Squads, Task Force, and neighbouring divisions we were able to contain the situation and take the injured officers to hospital.

“The command has launched a manhunt of the assailants with a view to bringing them to justice.

“The corpse of the victim of the stray bullet was taken to hospital for autopsy. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a full investigation into the case.”

Mourinho blasts Man Utd for selling Lukaku

Jose Mourinho has said Manchester United could struggle in attack, following the departure of Romelu Lukaku.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Mourinho predicted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will face difficulty against teams who defend deeper.

Solskjaer opted to offload Lukaku to Inter this summer, which means Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood will be competing for the central striker role.

Martial and Rashford both scored, as United beat Chelsea 4-0 in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford on Sunday.

But after the game, Mourinho raised doubts over whether Martial and Rashford will be able to maintain consistency throughout the season against more organised sides.

“I think they can when they are facing teams like Chelsea, I think they were too soft.

“It’s difficult to qualify them, they [Chelsea] were not compact defensively, too much space to play, not enough aggression on the ball, the defensive line, the midfield, the attack, they were not compact.

“I think United will find it much more difficult to play against teams with low compact blocks.

“If the blocks are low blocks it will be really difficult for them without a pure striker.

“With high blocks who can press them higher and be more aggressive, in the Premier League we have very good teams who can do that who are not in the top six, I think it can be difficult.

“In this moment, I think they don’t have a reason to feel anything but positive. A 4-0 result against Chelsea in the debut of the season is an amazing result.

“It’s very important that the dressing room feels like they can play to be champions. It’s very important they have that feeling.

“I think they will not be champions but they can obviously have a good season,” Mourinho said.

Kebbi monarch attributes insecurity to homosexuality

EXTRA: Kebbi monarch attributes insecurity to homosexuality
Muhammadu Bashar, emir of Gwandu, says homosexuality is one of the reasons for insecurity in the country.

Bashar, who is chairman, Kebbi council of chiefs, said this while addressing Muslim faithful after the Eid-el-Kabir prayer in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Sunday.

He said Nigerians have been ignoring God’s commands and adopting satanic behaviours as homosexuality, rape and lesbianism.

“The society today is bedevilled by cases of rape, homosexuality, lesbianism, kidnapping and rampant killings which resulted into the present insecurity Nigeria is faced with,” he said.

“I give glory to God for giving us the opportunity to witness another Sallah. The present ills in our society is also due to indiscipline and too much love for material wealth.”

He said the country would continue to be unstable until Nigerians stop committing sin against God.

The emir also charged the people to give to the needy, adding that those who were able to sacrifice animals during the Sallah should endeavour to share the meat with those who could not afford.

In 2014, President Goodluck Jonathan had passed a law banning homosexuality in Nigeria.

El-Zakzaky: 186 doctors from 7 countries write Buhari

One hundred and eighty six doctors from Pakistan, India, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq have written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari pointing to Sheikh El-Zakzaky’s physical conditions and asking the Nigerian government to transfer him to a well-equipped hospital as soon as possible.

The letter was published today by Fars News, an Iranian news agency. The report did not indicate what date the letter was written by the doctors or whether it was written after a Kaduna High Court last week approved a leave for El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat, to seek medicare in India.

The Department of State Services said after it was served with the court order that it would comply with it. Zakzaky has been in detention since December 2015, following a clash between his Shiite adherents and the Nigerian military.

About 300 Shiite members including three of El-Zakzaky’s children were killed. Many were buried in a mass grave.

Fars New quoted one of the signatories to the letter, Dr. Pourrahim Najafabadi, as saying that Zakzaky needs to be cured by an experienced medical team of physicians in a specialized multi-specialty hospital outside Nigeria.

“With the current physical condition of the Sheikh, especially the virulent lead poisoning, Sheikh’s life is seriously at risk by delayed treatment.

“Meanwhile, there is a need for special medical care even in case of complete medical treatment. There is serious risk to Sheikh’s life if he is kept under detention,” said Najafabadi, the founder and spokesperson of a group of expert physicians who have volunteered to treat Sheikh Zakzaky.

Here is the full text of the letter:

“In the name of God, The healer

From the community of Doctors

To the President of the Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Buhari.

In the past several months, the world has constantly received troubling news regarding the health of one of the prominent figures in Nigeria, Shaikh Ibrahim Zakzaky. Both Skaikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife are kept in prison and the health status of both of them is very alarming.

We have chosen to be doctors even after knowing that this job is very difficult and troublesome, but we chose to save people’s lives and preferred the health of the society over our personal interests.

According to the medical reports regarding the health status of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky:

1. He is suffering from a total blindness in the left eye, and is also suffering from vision problems in the right eye including glaucoma and progressive macular atrophy. According to the diagnosis of the visiting physicians, Shaikh Zakzaky will lose his vision sooner or later if the current circumstances do not change.

2. He has shown symptoms of Ischemic heart disease which can lead to Myocardial Infraction.

3. He is also suffering from severe cervical spondylosis which has resulted to nerve root compression and symptoms are progressive causing insomnia.

4. The experiments show that he has heavy metal toxicity including Lead and Cadmium. Laboratory tests that are performed on May 31st, 2019 show that blood lead level is 171.94µg/dl. Later on June 18th, 2019 this level was reported to be 231.48µg while in the last laboratory test the blood lead level was three times more than the toxicity level (grade 5 of poisoning).

Based on the points highlighted above, Shaikh Ibrahim Zakzaky should be transferred to a well- equipped medical center that has Neuro-ophthalmologist, glaucoma specialist and low vision expert, cardiologist, orthopedist and neurologist. Also he may need to have a surgery to reduce intraocular pressure.

We, doctors of different nationalities cannot take the health of any human for granted. This is something that is inherent in our obligation as doctors. Ignoring the critical health status of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky can end up in irreparable consequences.

We request the government and parliament of Nigeria to immediately transfer him to a well-equipped hospital to prevent any unfortunate incidents.

The Ogun State chapter of the Association for Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of spending funds belonging to the 20 Local Governments of the State without the ‘sign off’ of the elected Chairmen.

This allegation was contained in a statement jointly signed by the trio of Hon. Kunle Folarin, the Chairman; Alhaji Rasaq Adeagbo, Ogun West Senatorial Chairman and Hon. Femi Kafaru, Ogun East Senatorial Chairman.

The eighth Ogun State House of Assembly, under the leadership of former Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, had on May 3, 2019 issued a resolution suspending all political functionaries at the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

Acting on the resolution, the State Governor, Abiodun, froze all LGs and LCDAs’ accounts in Ogun, while the Chairmen were also asked to submit their Bank Verification Numbers BVN).

DAILY POST learnt that the accounts have since been unfrozen as the LGs and LCDAs are currently been run by the Heads of Local Government Administrations (HOLGA).

Therefore, the Chairmen in their statement, said they had informed the Ogun State House of Assembly during a meeting on Tuesday that they had not gotten any grant or allocation from the government of Abiodun since he took over on May 29.

The Chairmen also alleged that “all spendings on the LG and LCDA bank accounts in the last two months are being authorised by Gov. Dapo Abiodun without the sign off of the elected LG and LCDA Chairmen.”

It would be recalled that the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) had warned state governors not to tamper with local governments’ funds again.

The NFIU said that in consonance with the 1999 constitution, no debit would be allowed on any local government funds with effect from June 1, 2019 until the money was credited to the receiving local government.

The agency said the decision was taken to protect local government allocations while promising to deal with individuals, banks or companies abetting the diversion of local government funds.

One of the suspended LG Chairmen, who spoke with DAILY POST anonymously said the governor had flouted the NFIU regulations by approving funds belonging to the LGs and LCDAs.

The suspended LG boss said “it will be illegal for Gov Abiodun to spend any money from LG account, and nobody can do so without the chairmen signing off, because we are still the democratically elected Chairmen till October 20, 2019.”

He, however, said the governor had paid their May and June salaries, despite their suspension.

Meanwhile the LG and LCDA Chairmen have dragged Gov Abiodun and the state House of Assembly before an Abeokuta Federal High Court, asking it to declare their suspension “unconstitutional, illegal, null and void.”

Counsel to the suspended council officials, Monday Ubani, stated that, “having unsuccessfully explored several avenues to make Ogun State Government and House Assembly to reverse their suspension, the only option left for them is to approach the court.”

They are also demanding for the sum of N500m as damages for the infringement on their fundamental rights.

Meanwhile, efforts to get Gov Abiodun’s reactions to the suspended LG and LCDA Chairmen’s allegations through his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, have been unsuccessful as he did not reply messages sent to him.

Controversy: It’s aberration for Churches to take Holy Communion day time – Adeboye

General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has created fresh controversy on taking of the Holy Communion, saying it is an aberration for churches to take it during the day time.

Almost all churches in Nigeria and all over the world take the Lord Supper (Holy Communion) during service time in the day.

But Adeboye said whenever he attended other churches, he always desisted from taking the Lord’s Supper because it is wrong.

Speaking at the Holy Communion service at the just-concluded 67th convention of the church at the new auditorium at the Redemption Camp, Adeboye, who preached on the importance of the Holy Communion in line with the theme of the convention which is “And God Said,” pointed out that “the first time the Passover was taken in the Bible, it was taken in the night on the eve of the Israelites freedom from Egypt. Jesus also took it in the night with his disciples.”

According to him, whenever he is invited to some churches and they were serving Holy Communion in the day, he would decline taking by simply stating: “I am fasting.”

Adeboye posited that taking of the Holy Communion at night is symbolic, adding that “Tears may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning. The night period is symbolic. It means the end of sorrow. It means the end of suffering. It means the end of stagnation. The supper is taken in the night and not in the day.”

He explained further the Holy Communion is a serious matter and should not be taken unworthily.

“Many are eating it unworthily that is why they are experiencing so many things they should not experience. You can’t come to the Lord’s Table and bear grudges and harbor hatred in your heart against your brother or sister. You will be doing yourself a great harm,” he said in a report by the Nation.

“It was gathered they were to share N6 million as the business thrived for four months; however, the suspect allegedly started avoiding his partners which made them believe that he may have craftily reinvested the proceed without them knowing.

“The deceased traced the suspect to the farm to find out what has been happening; and in the farm, misunderstanding arose between them which allegedly resulted in the killing of Ani by the suspect and burying him inside the bush.

“The deceased was said to have been reported missing by relations who could not immediately find out what happened.

We are not mad people – Afenifere sends strong message to President Buhari

Yinka Odumakin, the spokesperson of the Afenifere Renewal Group, has said that criticism of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, is born out of the need to ensure that the government did the right things.

He stated this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics.

According to Odumakin, if the government does the right thing like when it gave national honours to the Chief MKO Abiola, other heroes of Democracy and declared June 12 as the nation’s Democracy Day, then it would receive praise as it did then.

“When they do good things, we say it.

“When this government decided to honour June 12, didn’t we commend it? We did.

“We are not mad people who will see (a) good thing and say it’s bad but we are also not sycophants who will see (a) bad thing and say it’s good,” Odumakin said.

Odumakin is, however, sceptical about Buhari’s administration doing more good things in its second term.

But he believes he has no other country than Nigeria and is keen to see things improve because “every day that we spend under bad conditions” helps no one and “every day that we spend under good conditions is a plus for all of us”.

Consequently, he added, “Even if you do not support the government, you will not say that the country should be destroyed. We will be happy if they (the government) get it right.”
