Pastor Adeboye states position on CAMA bill

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has rejected the Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, which was assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The CAMA 2020 bill which was signed on August 7th has received backlash from religious, non-governmental and human rights organisations, who are kicking against some sections of the law particularly section 839.

The new law, ”Section 839 (1) empowers the Commission to suspend trustees of an association and appoint interim managers to manage the affairs of the association where it reasonably believes that- (a) There is or has been misconduct, mismanagement in the administration of the association.”

Reacting to the bill, RCCG’s Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi said that Adeboye’s opinion on the issue is not always different from whatever the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN endorsed.

According to Olubiyi, Pastor Adeboye was in alignment with the stand of CAN and PFN.

Recall that the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN), last week described amended Company and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, as satanic.

CAN while rejecting the bill, called on President Buhari to halt the implementation of “the obnoxious and ungodly law until the religious institutions are exempted from it

It maintained that the bill will do no good, adding that it is ungodly, reprehensible and an ill-wind.

Speaking to Vanguard, Olubiyi was quoted as saying, “We always align ourselves with whatever the stand of the leadership of CAN and PFN on issues like this. The Redeemed Christian Church of God does not take any decision that is at variance with the stand of CAN and PFN and the same thing applies concerning this very issue.

”Daddy will not take a stand different from the ones of the two organisations, CAN and PFN. CAN and PFN have spoken on the issue of CAMA and as far as the Redeemed Christian Church of God is concerned that is our position too. We are in alignment with that stand,”

Paraguay nightmare of Ronaldinho ends, flies to Rio de Janeiro today

Brazil soccer legend, Ronaldinho, along with his brother was released from house arrest in Paraguay on Monday after nearly six months in custody for using a fake passport.

Media reports said the brothers would fly back to Rio de Janeiro on a private plane today.

A judge suspended charges against the 40-year-old and his brother Roberto Assis after they struck a plea bargain with prosecutors.

“The precautionary measure of arrest is lifted, there are no more restrictions placed by Paraguayan justice,” Judge Gustavo Amarilla told a court hearing in Asuncion.

Ronaldinho and Assis spent more than a month in prison before being relocated to the four-star Palmaroga Hotel after paying 1.6 million U.S. dollars in bail.

Under terms of the deal with investigators, Ronaldinho agreed to a 90,000 US dollar fine and must report to a federal judge in Brazil every three months for two years.

“There is no indication that he has any personal characteristics or criminal behaviour that … would put society at risk,” one of the prosecutors in the case said.

Assis was ordered to pay 110,000 dollars and will not be allowed to leave Brazil over a two-year period. He will also maintain a criminal record in Paraguay.

Ronaldinho and Assis traveled to Paraguay March 4 to participate in a children’s charity event and promote a new book. They were arrested later that day on accusations of presenting false travel documents to immigration officials.

The pair have denied any wrongdoing and said they were presented with the passports as a “gift” upon arriving in Asuncion.

Ronaldinho retired from football in 2018 after a career that included spells at Gremio, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Milan and Atletico Mineiro, among other clubs.

He was a part of the Brazil team that won the 2002 World Cup and was twice voted the FIFA world player of the year.

Man City give condition for signing Messi from Barcelona

Manchester City are exploring the possibility of signing Lionel Messi from Barcelona, ESPN reports.

However, the former Premier League champions will only make a bid, if they will not breach Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

City also need Barca to agree to sell their prized assets before making a move.

So far, the LaLiga giants have insisted Messi is untransferable and is protected by a €700million (£632million) release clause.

But City continue to keep an eye on the situation, after the 32-year-old admitted he could leave.

Barcelona endured a miserable season under managers Ernesto Valverde and Quique Setien, which ended in an 8-2 thrashing in the Champions League, as they finished a season trophyless for the first time since 2008.

It led to the sacking of Setien, who has been replaced by Ronald Koeman, with the future of many players up in the air.

Killings: FG warns parents against sending their children to Northern Cyprus schools

Killings: FG warns parents against sending their children to Northern Cyprus schools

The federal government has warned parents against sending their children to universities in Northern Cyprus owing to “incessant and mysterious killings of Nigerian students”.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM, gave the warning when she received a delegation led by Amina Bello, a judge and mother of Ibrahim Khaleel, a Nigerian student, who was allegedly murdered in the country.

She said the death of Khaleel, a third-year engineering student, is one out of the incessant killings involving Nigerian students in the country.

The NIDCOM boss, who reeled out 15 names of Nigerians from a list of more than 100 killed in the country, said it is difficult to employ international diplomacy in investigating the cases as the country is only recognised by Turkey.

“The death of Ibrahim Khaleel should be the tipping point to a stop in the killing of our children anywhere in the world, particularly Northern Cyprus,” she said.

“It is not only Ibrahim. Kennedy Dede 28, Augustine Ngok, Gabriel Sorewei, Osabanjo Owoyale, Augustine Wallace, Stanley Eteno, Hassan Babatunde, Temitayo Adigun, and Kubat Abraham are just a few of the ones that we even know.

“The problem is that most Nigerian parents do not know that Northern Cyprus is not recognised by any country in the world. It is not a UN-recognised country. It is only recognised by Turkey.

“That is why we have not been able to do much. Who do you report to? Thousands of Nigerian students are schooling there and I tell you that hundreds have been killed. Who do you take these cases to?

“And they are killed in similar circumstances. The school just tells you ‘well, they committed suicide’ and nothing happens.

“We are going to list all these names of Nigerians that have been killed and we demand justice. There has been no prosecution and no compensation. No Nigerian parent should send their children to any university in Northern Cyprus – there is a collaboration which we do not understand that makes them kill blacks, particularly our Nigerian students.”

Dabiri-Erewa assured the mother of the deceased student that the commission would work with her to demand justice, not only for her son but also for other Nigerians who have been killed while studying in that country.

She added that the case had already been transferred to INTERPOL through the office of the attorney general of the federation.

“We have written the NUC. The key thing is to blacklist Northern Cyprus and to stop our children from going to that country to study,” she said.

“We will be working with the NUC to list all the universities in Northern Cyprus and blacklist them. We cannot be letting them kill our children.”

She added there were plans by NIDCOM to visit Northern Cyprus after the COVID-19 pandemic “to see things as clearly as they were”.

‘No more middlemen’ — CBN bans third parties from getting forex via form M

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says it will no longer approve payment of foreign exchange to form M applicants who do so through a company and agent, thereby eliminating third parties.

According to a memo signed by O.S. Nnaji, the director of trade and exchange department at the bank, the CBN will now pay the ultimate provider of goods and services the forex directly.

“As part of continued efforts by the Central Bank of Nigeria to ensure prudent use of foreign exchange resources and eliminate incidences of over-invoicing, transfer pricing, double handling charges, and avoidable costs that are ultimately passed to the average Nigerian consumers, Authorised dealers are hereby directed to desist from opening of Forms M whose payment are routed through a buying company/agent or any other third-parties,” the memo read.

“All authorised dealers are hereby requested to only open form M for letters of credit, bills for collection and other forms of payment in favour of the ultimate supplier of the product or service”.

The bank said the “directive is with immediate effect”.

CBN said it will now follow global best practices by verifying prices before approving forex for the purchase of goods and services abroad.

“Additionally, in line with best practices around the world, the CBN will be immediately introducing a Product Price Verification Mechanism to forestall over-pricing and/or mispricing of goods and services imported into country,” the bank added.

“All authorised dealers shall use this mechanism to verify quoted prices before Forms M are approved.”

Ex-agitators threaten return to creeks if amnesty programme is scrapped

Niger Delta ex-agitators have threatened to return to the creeks if the Federal Government goes ahead to scrap the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Leader of ex-agitators, in Akwa Ibom State, Nico Sintei, who disclosed this on Monday in Uyo, while reacting to the alleged plan to scrap the amnesty programme, explained that majority of the beneficiaries of the programme don’t have any other source of income besides the sixty-five thousand (N65,000,00) Naira monthly allowance.

He stressed that any right thinking Nigerian that appreciates the peace, unity and progress of the country, would not wish for the only laudable programme that solved the problem of militancy and attacks on oil installations in the region, to be scrapped.

He wondered why the issue of the Niger Delta amnesty programme should be a cause for concern to the Nigerian government instead of focusing on how to put an end to the worsening security situation in the country.

“The Federal government should not tamper with the Amnesty Programme if it really wants to continue to enjoy the oil production from the region. The programme is the only thing that has sustained the peace in the Niger Delta region, it helped to stop militancy and youth restiveness in the region, and attack on oil installations.

“And the only things the Niger Delta ex-agitators have benefitted from the programme is the Sixty-five thousand naira PAP monthly allowance. Also some of us were sent to School, some have been trained in various skills. Is that too much?

“Why is that the paltry N65,000 allowance few youths from the region that lays the golden egg are receiving from the programme has become a problem? And as far as I am concerned, it was the best thing that late President Yar’Adua did for Nigeria. Other solutions failed but PAP worked.

“Let them understand that the amnesty programme can only stop when they stop drilling oil from this region; the day we stop feeding this country. We were not told that the programme has expiry date, so it cannot be scrapped. Therefore I advise that they should let sleeping dogs lie.

“The federal government should understand that those advising it to scrap the programme do not like the existing peace in the Niger Delta region, they don’t mean well for Nigeria.

“I am not saying these things because I am a beneficiary of the programme. But as a leader of ex-agitators in Akwa Ibom, I am saying that if they scrap the programme what they are simply asking them is to go back to militancy or the creeks. And you can imagine what the consequences will be.

“Today, Boko Haram insurgents, bandits are killing innocent citizens, in Kaduna, all over the country, and the government has not done anything to put an end it, they are looking for how to stop Amnesty programme and add more problems into the system.”

Africans must stop claiming to be black, black is evil – Oyakhilome

Founder, Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome says it is high time Africans should stop claiming to be black as black signifies absence of direction and evil.

He said the toga: ‘Black lives matter’ should stop, as Africans were not black.

In a telecast to members of his church, Oyakhilome said “Maybe I should tell you something, those of you that say black lives matter, I feel sorry for you! Do you really believe you have a black life? Do you want me to read to you the meaning of black?

“Who called you black? Shouldn’t you have rejected that from the beginning? A contradiction, a bundle of contradiction. You refused negro and nigga… But that’s what black is. You took the English version.

“Negro means black. Do you know what black means… Have you ever seen black? Black means the absence of colour, absence of good, absence of light and absence of direction. These are the meaning of black. Black is not a colour but the absence of colour.. like you are sick, don’t you understand it?”

According to him, “It’s about time Africans say to themselves we are not black. STOP ALL THIS BLACK LIVES MATTER!
Let no one call you black because you are not black… The definition of black is not good and they are using it to destroy you…

“When you keep calling yourself black… You mean light is absent, colour is absent and you will never come to a place of light… You will be under… When God gives you a Prophetic instruction, it is important that you follow into the latter.”
