Horror as woman kills her 4 children, stashes corpses inside house

For almost a week, nobody knew what had happened to the four siblings. That was until the kids’ bodies were found in the house which they shared with their mother!
On Sunday, the 30-year-old woman called her family members. She told them to check her rented room in Klarinet in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga area of Zimbabwe. The family went there and were met by a gruesome scene.
The bodies of her four children aged 11 months to eight years were inside the house, wrapped in blankets.
Cops said the woman, who was bust for killing her four children, may have slept with her dead kids for days.
According to cops, the mother of the four children handed herself over to police.
Mpumalanga cops spokesman Brigadier Leonard Hlathi told Daily Sun that police in Witbank were investigating four counts of murder.
“The 30-year-old mother and her children, two girls and two boys, were last seen on 26 December, when all seemed well at the time,” he said.
Hlathi confirmed that the woman had handed herself over to cops.
He said she was expected to appear in the Witbank Magistrates Court soon.
Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant- General Mondli Zuma, has in the meantime pleaded with residents to find help when in trouble, instead of keeping quiet until they do terrible things.

9 in 10 Africans not qualified for jobs they apply for

REVEALED: 9 in 10 Africans not qualified for jobs they apply for
Close to 90 percent of applicants that apply to a job position in Africa are objectively not a match to the role advertised, Ringier One Africa Media (ROAM) has revealed.
Based on data sets from 12 million Africans, ROAM found that this is caused less by a shortage of jobs, but a fundamental misunderstanding of job requirements, both from employers and candidates.
This was uncovered by research conducted by ROAM, which is an encompassing the market-leading job portals in West Africa (Jobberman) and East Africa (Brightermonday), as well as Executive Recruitment and HR Solutions firm The African Talent Company.
The company has analysed datasets from more than 12 million users, as well as from more than 100,000 employers, across Nigeria and Kenya active in the last two years.
“We have recently conducted a data review and were shocked by this huge gap. Our initial hypothesis was that this is due to a shortage of jobs, gaps in the labour markets, and desperation,” Matthew Page, ROAM head of Jobs, said on the background of the research.
“However digging deeper into our database, our analysis found that many candidates were indeed qualified for other available jobs, but did not necessarily apply for these. African employers and our clients indeed face a challenge in hiring the right people.”
The company’s research further brought to light that an average job listing receives about 140 – 160 applications.
This showcases that there are huge hiring efforts involved in the application and recruitment process, even before the interview.
This is both on the candidate side, to launch this large number of wrong applications, as well as from the employer, to identify the 10% of the right candidates, amidst a large number of unqualified requests.
“Hiring the right competency upfront typically returns 3x productivity for the employer. It also minimises the onboarding time required to get an employee up to speed,” Page added.
“That is why we have launched smart employer products in the last months. These facilitate a smooth hiring experience for employers, through tech-enabled shortlisting and matching products that identify the best candidate for the best position”, adds Matthew Page.
Clemens Weitz, CEO of ROAM, who elaborates on the potential for economic growth, said: “Our research clearly shows that the education of the African job market has a long way to go – both on the seeker and employer side”.
“Solving this challenge will unlock tremendous latent economic potential. Imagine an efficient economy, where all employees sit in the job that is a perfect, natural fit for their individual nature.
“Productivity and satisfaction would skyrocket. AI and machine learning have tremendous potential, and we plan to fundamentally solve this challenge in 2019.”

Kachikwu: We’ve generated over $2bn from oil block licences to fund 2019 budget

Kachikwu: We’ve generated over $2bn from oil block licences to fund 2019 budget
Ibe Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum resources, says the federal government has generated over $2 billion from the renewal of oil block licences.
The former group managing director the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) said the funds will be used to implement the nation’s budget.
“We have actually asked for early renewals, because we needed to get money out of it to help finance the budget and from that process, we have actually gotten about $2 billion,” Kachikwu told TheGuardian.
The minister said his ministry deliberately put a policy in place to hasten renewals, so enough funds could be put together for the budget.
“I put a policy of early renewals in place so that even blocks that are not due for renewal before 2019 are being renewed right now,” he said.
According to him, only about 30 of the fields, expected to add an about 300 million barrels of crude were granted licenses by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).
Kachikwu added that about 40 others, as well as mega fields suggested to President Muhammadu Buhari, who doubles as the minister of petroleum, were awaiting approval.
He said the ministry is currently analysing the renewal applications lodge for the 2019 process, to ensure best use of Nigeria’s oil field.
“We are doing analysis on what these people can bring to bear on the time limit between which you must develop the block that you asked for,” he added.
“If you can’t, lets somebody else get into it, and try and create a joint venture to find funding. But just holding to a block is depriving the government, state and even the investor money and it does not make any sense.”
The minister of petroleum, who is the president, has discretionary powers to allocate oil blocks in Nigeria — without the scrutiny of any other government ministry, department, or agency.

A 60-year-old man, suspected to be a ritualist, has been apprehended for allegedly stealing female pants, bra as well as already used sanitary pads in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The suspect, whose real name has not been identified as at press time, was caught by some commercial motorcyclists commonly referred to as”okada riders” at Danjuma area along Isikan road of the state capital following his suspicious movement within the neighborhood.
After being caught, he was handed over to the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, by residents of the area who had earlier beat him blue and black.
While giving a vivid account of the incident which threw the neighbourhood into pandemonium, one of the residents who gave her name as Adeola Oluwasegun, said the suspect was initially mistaken for a lunatic before he was exposed by “okada riders” who she guess have been trailing him from a distance.
She narrated that, “We first saw the old man roaming the streets like a mentally unstable man while holding a small bag and we were thinking he was begging for food or money.
“Later, we noticed some Okada men shouting thief from afar and we did not know they were after the old man who they called ritualists.
“By the time, they would dragged the bag from him, he was caught with dirty female underwares lilke bra, pants, cloth and sanitary pads.
“Many residents were angry and they gave him the serious beating of his life. In fact, they nearly lyched him to death before he was whiskey away by some elderly people.”
It was gathered that no less than twelve female soaked sanitary pads and undies were found in possession of the suspect.

Real reason some governors can’t pay N30,000 minimum wage -Falana

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has alleged that some state governors cannot pay the proposed N30,000 minimum wage because they are not blocking the leakages going on within their governments.

According to him, only Kano State has an anti-corruption commission.
Falana, who said this on Thursday when he was featured on a breakfast show on Arise Television, said the fight cannot be limited to the federal government alone.
He lamented what he called the negligence of state governments to join the federal government in its fight against corruption.
His words: “In line with section 15, subsection 5 of the constitution, the provision says the Nigerian state shall abolish corrupt practices and abuse of office.
“That does not mean the federal government. The Nigerian state, including the federal government, state government and local government. But apart from the federal government, no state in Nigeria is fighting corruption.
“That’s why some of the state governments are saying they cannot pay minimum wage because they are not blocking the leakages going on. Kano state is the only state, this may interest you, has an anti-corruption commission. No other state in Nigeria.
“In fact, access to information is denied by all state governments in Nigeria apart from Ekiti state. Only Ekiti state government, under Fayemi, has adopted the freedom of information act.
“So, it’s difficult in any state to ask for information with respect to public affairs. So, you can’t just single out the federal government fighting corruption in a country where majority of state governments are not bothered.
“So, it will not be fair to limit the fight against corruption to the federal government. As a country, Nigeria has not decided to fight corruption.”

2019 election: Why Atiku pays American Brian Ballard $90,000 monthly – Buhari’s camp

The Buhari Media Organisation, BMO, has accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, of hiring an American lobbyist for $90,000 monthly to be releasing fake news.

BMO further stated that the recent rise of fake news on social media, targeted at the Nigerian military was the handiwork of the former Vice President.
The BMO listed recent claims of terrorists’ attacks on the military; desertion by police personnel; allegations of corruption scandals in the military hierarchy and the resurfacing of a 2014 claim by soldiers of lack of weaponry as fake reports sponsored by Atiku.
This was contained in a statement signed by Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and the Secretary, Cassidy Madueke on Wednesday night.
The statement continues, “Atiku Abubakar’s desperation knows no bounds; his recent move to sponsor narrative through fake news that paint Nigeria’s security personnel as weak and incapable of carrying out their duties is an example of the PDP candidate’s desperation and lack of patriotism.
“It is shameful that a former vice president of Nigeria would procure the service of an American lobby firm to sponsor fake news aimed at attacking the morale and credibility of Nigeria’s armed forces.
“In addition to this is the hiring of foreign trolls to man their online handles in a way that is against national interest. The aim is to destroy national institutions, including the INEC and cause confusion after realising that they had lost the contest even before the votes are cast.
“This goes to emphasise the fact that Mr. Abubakar does not have Nigeria’s interest at heart and must be kept far away from the seat of power. The PDP has nothing to sell to Nigerians. It has a candidate who is notorious for corruption allegations and is distrusted across the globe; aside being the candidate of a party responsible for the pillage of Nigeria’s treasury.”
“Report by an American firm making unbacked claims that the recently slain former Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshal Alex Badeh, was killed to hide corruption under the current Defence leadership was fake news and the handiwork of Mr Brian Ballard, the United States lobbyist Atiku procured at $90,000 a month.
“It is a blatant lie that Atiku Abubakar, as head of Customs at the Lagos airport in 1984 stopped the ADC of the then Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, from smuggling in 53 suitcases of looted money.
“This is a matter that was settled back then. The suitcases were the personal belongings of the then Nigerian ambassador to Libya who was returning to the country after his tour of duty with his three wives and sixteen children.
“The late ambassador was coming into the country at the same time as the Emir of Gwandu whose son was General Buhari’s ADC and his suitcases were falsely presented to the public as those of the Emir.
“So from all indications, the suitcases which were cleared through Customs by soldiers had nothing to do with Buhari and there was nothing to suggest that illicit funds were being brought into the country.”

President confesses to sexually assaulting housemaid

Philippine President, Rodrigo Duterte has confessed to sexually abusing a maid while he was a teenager, according to the BBC.
In a speech yesterday, Duterte was reported as saying he had confessed to a priest going into a maid’s room while she slept and placing his fingers on her genitals.
The remarks were not unusual for Duterte, who has frequently come under fire for making statements that demean or encourage violence against women.
Last June and July, women’s rights activists gathered in Manila to protest Duterte’s treatment of women, including his remarks that communist rebels should be “shot in the vagina.”
The new remarks stand out, however, because Duterte admitted to sexually assaulting a woman himself.
According to Duterte, when he was a teenager, he walked into the maid’s room while she was asleep and sexually assaulted her.
The BBC quoted him as saying, “I lifted the blanket. I tried to touch what was inside the panty. As I was touching, she woke up so I left the room.”
He later came back into the maid’s room and fondled her genitals again, the BBC said.
Duterte added that he later opened up to a priest who after hearing the confession, said: “Say five Our Fathers, five Hail Marys, because you will go to hell.”
Duterte, a frequent critic of the Catholic Church, then turned the conversation to accusations about sexual abuse by Catholic priests, according to Rappler.

Meanwhile, Gabriela Women’s Party, a political party that represents women’s rights groups, said that Duterte is “unworthy of his position and should resign,” according to the BBC.

Edo 2019: Top Nigerians asking me for sex – Female candidate makes revelation

The only female candidate seeking to represent Oredo West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, Miss Charity Idahosa, says she is being sexually harassed by men over her ambition.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idahosa, contesting under the platform of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), made the allegation in a chat with newsmen in Benin on Thursday.
She described the experience as frustrating, and a recurring negative trend against women in politics.
“Well it has been mixed feelings. I came into politics with the desire to make a change and contribute my quota to the development of Oredo West constituency.
“It will be shocking to note that people I had looked up to for support often asked for sexual gratification before giving their support and for me it absurd and unacceptable.”
The MAJA party candidate, who declined to mention names, added: “I know this may sound funny but it is real.
“There are a lot of women out there that cannot speak out on some of their unpleasant encounters and experiences.
“I think it is time for Nigeria women to rise against this trend. We need to be protected and supported.”
The MAJA candidate, however, vowed to remain undaunted in her desire to contest the state assembly election in spite of the frustration and lack of support.
Idahosa stressed that female candidates require a law to protect them from all forms of harassment in the pursuit of their political ambitions.

How Nigerien troops killed 280 Boko Haram fighters

Troops and air strikes have killed more than 280 Boko Haram militants since the Nigerien Government started an operation against the group last week, the Defense Ministry said.
Boko Haram has attacked Niger, Chad and Cameroon from its base in northeast Nigeria, where it has been fighting for more than nine years to carve out an Islamist caliphate.
Niger’s Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the army mounted a sweep operation against the group last Friday along the south-eastern Komadugu River, which separates Niger from Nigeria.
More than 200 militants were “neutralised” by air strikes and 87 were killed by Nigerien troops on the ground, it said.
In June 2016, more than 30 Nigerien soldiers were killed during a Boko Haram attack on the town of Bosso, prompting Chad to send 2,000 troops to help its West African neighbour counter the militants.
Those troops were withdrawn in October 2017, raising concern about security in the Diffa region.

Man dies after jumping from moving BRT bus in Lagos

The Ifo Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said that a middle-age man died while jumping down from a Marcopolo BRT bus at Casso axis, on Abeokuta/Lagos Expressway on Wednesday.
Mr Joshua Ibitomi, the Agbado Unit Commander of FRSC, who confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Ota, said that the accident happened around 5.40 p. m.
Ibitomi explained that the victim boarded the BRT bus from Oshodi and mistakenly missed his steps in the process of jumping down from the vehicle at Casso Bus-Stop.
“The man died instantly because he hit his head on the road.
“The corpse of the victim has been taken to an undisclosed hospital because residents of the area are harassing and destroying property of motorists plying the road,” he said.
He also said that there was nothing on the deceased to identify him.
The unit commander said the FRSC was unable to get the BRT registration number of the vehicle because the driver had absconded before its officers got to the scene of the accident.
He, however, said that the FRSC, police and LASTMA were on ground to control traffic and restore peace to the area.
Ibitomi also advised the people to desist from taking laws into their hands.

We’re not aware of Federal Govt’s payment of N15.89bn to universities – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) says it has not been briefed on the alleged payment of N15.89 billion to universities by the Federal Government, two months after it embarked on strike.
The union’s National President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
The unionist was reacting to reports that the Federal Government had on Dec. 31, 2018, released N15.89 billion to universities.
The report stated that the fund was for the payment of shortfall in salaries of universities.
“Well someone actually drew my attention to that newspaper report. I have not received any formal letter from Federal Government, conveying such information to us.
“The only information I got from the Minister of Labour this afternoon when we spoke was that they have done something concerning our demands; what they have done, I do not know.
“The other thing he told me was that there is going to be a meeting between us (ASUU) and government on Monday.
“It is only when we get to the meeting that we will be able to know what government has done and if it is okay by us, then we will convey same to our members who will now take the next line of action,” he said.
Recall that members of the union had, on Nov. 4, 2018, embarked on what they had described as ‘comprehensive, total and indefinite nationwide strike’ to press home their demands.
The striking lecturers were protesting against alleged non-implementation of agreements they entered into with the Federal Government in 2013 and 2017.
They were also agitating against the poor welfare, poor funding, and general decay in education infrastructure, among others.
Since the commencement of the strike, members of the union had met with the Federal Government six times, to find a way forward to the issues, all ending in a deadlock.

Islamic cleric in police net for allegedly defiling 5-year-old girl

The police in Lagos State have arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly defiling a five-year old girl whom he was supposed be teaching Islamic studies.
According to a statement by the state Command Spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, the cleric was arrested after he was recorded performing the act.
“On Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, a good Nigerian visited the headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command with a video evidence of an Islamic cleric having anal sex with a five-year-old girl that he was supposed to be teaching Islamic studies.
“The complainant sought audience with the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi.
“The CP, after watching the heart-rending video, directed the command’s undercover operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau to immediately arrest the culprit and hand him over to the Gender Section for detailed investigation.
“The operatives went in search of the Alfa and arrested him near a mosque in the Igando area of the state.
“He was taken from there to the Gender Unit, where the Officer-in-Charge, ASP (Mrs) Abimbola Williams, confronted him with the video of him defiling the child by penetrating her anus and private parts.
“On seeing himself captured like an actor in a movie, the suspect broke down and owned up to the crime. The case will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.” the statement stated.
The CP further commended the courageous act of the good Nigerian, and warned parents and guardians to keep constant watch over their children and wards.
“Nobody should be trusted. Be friends with your children and let them be free to share things with you.
“Do not cover up any crime, no matter who is involved. Raise the alarm on child molesters in your neighbourhood so they can face the law and others nursing such thoughts can be deterred.” the CP said.
