How fake lawyer was nabbed after practising for 15 years

How fake lawyer was nabbed after practising for 15 years
The police have arrested Chris Elisha, a fake lawyer who practised for 15 years.
Trouble began when he stood in for one his clients at a magistrate court in Ojo, Lagos state.
He was said to have made an attempt to quote a section of the constitution in the bid to apply for the client’s bail but got it wrong.
This raised the suspicion of Nnamdi Nwafor, a lawyer, who challenged Elisha after the court session.
The confrontation drew the attention of court officials, lawyers and police officers at the court to the scene and the suspect was taken to the police station for interrogation.
Elisha, 49, claimed to have studied in Ukraine but said that he had not been called to the bar.
The suspect could also not produce any certificate from the university he claimed to have studied.
Chike Oti, spokesman of the Lagos police command, said the suspect claimed that he was into corporate law practice and did little of litigation.
“Chris Elisha has been practising as a lawyer for the past 15 years without being spotted,” Oti said in a statement.
“However, nemesis caught up with him on February 6, 2018, at the Ojo magistrate’s court where he appeared on behalf of an accused but found it difficult to move a motion for the variation of the bail condition of his client.” - Cable Nigeria

Land of madness !!! Strange snake swallows N36 million cash in JAMB office

A mystery snake is said to have sneaked into the accounts office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital and made away with N36 million cash.
Before now, JAMB candidates purchased scratch cards from JAMB state offices and other designated centers, to gain access to the Board’s website for either registration or to check their admission status but the reforms introduced by JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, recommended an end to the use of scratch cards.
A team of auditors was dispatched to different state offices of JAMB to take inventory of the sold and unsold scratch cards and recover whatever money that might have either been generated or mismanaged during the period of the sale of scratch cards.
On their visit to Makurdi office of JAMB, a sales clerk, Philomina Chieshe, told JAMB registrar and his team that she could not account for N36 million she made in previous years before the abolition of scratch cards.
In the course of interrogation, Philomena confessed that it was her housemaid that connived with another JAMB staff, Joan Asen, to “spiritually” steal the money from the vault in the accounts office.
She said: “I was one of the four sales clerks attached to JAMB office in Makurdi. My responsibility was to sell scratch cards to candidates and not involved in handling the revenues. It was the responsibility of Joan Asen and my other senior colleagues. I only remit money when am done selling the cards.
“Few months ago, there was issue of fraud in the Makurdi office. Auditors were sent from Abuja to carefully flip the record books of the office, to perhaps, ascertain the current state of affairs.
“The state Coordinator, Obilo, was not around when the audit team came. But in the course of the audit, N36 million was discovered to have been missing from the account. An investigation was launched. In the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Joan Asen, who is account staff and a lady outside JAMB have connived to steal the money.”
Philomina in her confessional statement said that Joan Asen and her accomplices confessed that they have been stealing the money “spiritually” through a mysterious snake that always sneak into the office to swallow the money from the vault.

According to her “It was a mystery to me too. I have been saving the money in the bank, but I found it difficult to account for it. So I started saving it in a vault in the office. But each time I open the vault, I will find nothing. I became worried and surprised how the millions of Naira could be disappearing from the vault. I began to interrogate everybody in the house and office, and no one could agree on what might have happened to the money. I continued to press until my housemaid confessed. She said that the money disappeared “spiritually”. She said that a “mysterious snake” sneaked into the house and swallowed the money in the vault.” - Daily Post

Man loses rectum after long stay in toilet

rectum

A young man (name withheld) in China was rushed to hospital in the middle of the night after noticing his rectum had fallen out of his body.
He told doctors that he had been using his mobile phone while on the toilet for over half an hour  trying to poo.
When they went to check him out, they found a massive lump measuring 16cm long sticking out of his anus.

The man underwent gastro-intestinal surgery at The Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Zhongshan, southeast China, last Sunday, to successfully remove it.
Dr Su Dan told local media the man was diagnosed with rectal prolapse, which occurs when the last part of the intestines loses its attachment within the body and becomes visible outside the body.
However, she added that the patient’s situation was a lot more severe than usual.
She said: ‘The patient had rectal prolapse since he was four years old, the bulge was able to retract. But he did not treat the condition and the situation has got worse.’
The doctor said there were bruises and blood spots along the patient’s intestinal wall.
According to her, rectal prolapse usually occurs on children or elderly.

Human eggs fully grown in lab for first time

Human eggs have been fully grown in a laboratory setting for the first time, potentially paving the way for new fertility treatments.
The eggs were removed from ovary tissue as early as possible and grown in a laboratory up until the point they were ready for fertilisation, according to research published in the journal Molecular Human Reproduction.
If the eggs were healthy it could allow women who were undergoing medical treatments that damage their eggs, such as chemotherapy, to store and save them for future fertilisation.
However, scientists have cast doubts on whether the study proved that the eggs were fully grown in good health.
Lead researcher Professor Evelyn Telfer, of the University of Edinburgh's school of biological sciences, said: "Being able to fully develop human eggs in the lab could widen the scope of available fertility treatments.
"We are now working on optimising the conditions that support egg development in this way and studying how healthy they are. We also hope to find out, subject to regulatory approval, whether they can be fertilised."
However, not all onlookers agree that the research is so promising.
Professor Simon Fishel of the CARE Fertility Group said: "The press release is perhaps more encouraging than the science or the authors promulgate.
"As has been seen in many attempts to develop human gametes in vitro over the years, what looks normal may not indeed be what we call 'developmentally competent', or indeed healthy."
Professor Daniel Brison, the scientific director of the Department of Reproductive Medicine at University of Manchester, said that it was "an exciting breakthrough".
He added: "As the authors acknowledge, there is much more important research still to do, but this could pave the way for fertility preservation in women and girls with a wider variety of cancers than is possible using existing methods."
The study, carried out by the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, the Centre for Human Reproduction in New York and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, was supported by the Medical Research Council. - Sky News

South African Pastor Found Guilty For Spraying Followers With Insecticide

Rabalao said he had been told by God to heal people, and claimed he could help those with HIV and cancer.

Saudi Arabia Kills Another Nigerian For Drug Trafficking

Apparently taking advantage of the delay by Nigeria to intervene in the alleged drug deals undertaken by Nigerians in the country, Saudi Arabia has executed one more Nigerian for drug-related offences.

Impeccable Vanguard sources confirmed that the suspect, whose name was given as Adam Idris Abubakar, was killed by the authorities on Tuesday, bringing the number of Nigerian drug detainees so far executed in the last four months to four.

Two of the suspects were killed last November. A source close to the suspects told Vanguard that the Nigerian Embassy in Riyadh had been informed of the latest execution and that the embassy was embarrassed by the action of the Middleeast country, having begun discussions with them to spare the lives of the suspects.

The killing of Abubakar has reduced the number of Nigerian drug suspects to 13 out of the 15, who are being detained in Medinna Prison in Saudi Arabia.

Last year, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, gave the assurance that the Nigerian Government had begun discussions with the foreign country to save the lives of the embattled Nigerians.

Last week, Onyeama said, “We have made very strong intercessions with the government of those countries to review the cases and of course, not to execute those prisoners. But there is a limit, these are sovereign countries and they have processes and laws.

“As far as Saudi Arabia is concerned, it has been ongoing, we have been intervening at various levels with the Saudi government to spare the lives of those citizens and a number of NGOs have been working with us in order to get those Nigerian citizens off the death row,” the minister said
