What's the Hurry, Young Man? Cop Pulls Over Toddler in Toy Car, Tells Him to Slow Down, Buddy

Take it easy, little man.

A 3-year-old Canadian boy has been busted for driving his pint-sized Ford F-150 truck just a little too fast.

Nathan Snow was behind the wheel of his battery-powered toy vehicle, with his trusty sidekick Lacey, a miniature Pomeranian when a very big Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer got out of a very big cruiser to give him a speeding ticket.

“I thought, ‘Oh God, what did we do now?’’’ mom Heather Snow told InsideEdition.com Tuesday night. But the good-natured cop asked the parents if it was OK to pull over their son and give him his first traffic ticket.

Nathan seemed mostly bewildered by the whole situation, his mom said.

“He didn’t really understand. He’s 3. He doesn’t really understand what a police officer is. So we’ve been trying to explain that police are who you go to if you’re in trouble,” she said.

As the Mountie wrote “Too fast!” on Nathan’s ticket, he chatted with boy. “For your punishment I want you to go home and help mommy with the laundry,” Snow recounted.

The officer also offered Nathan a chance to sit in the patrol cruiser, but the boy wasn’t having it, Snow said. He looked at his mother and said “No, mommy.”

Snow said her town of Fort McMurray has been through a lot in the past year. Raging forest fires took 4,000 homes in the area and forced 88,000 to evacuate.

“We’re closer now, and nicer to each other,” she said. And that’s what she thinks the officer was doing – just being kind to a kid in the neighborhood.

Others apparently think the same. After Snow posted video of the traffic stop to her community’s Facebook page, it went bonkers. Local media stories added to the viewing frenzy.

On one news site, the video had been shared 500,000 times, she said.

Like Nathan, Snow said she, too, was a little bewildered by the attention.

“It just blew up,” she said of the social media following. - Inside Edition

Andy Uba's Former Lawyer Accuses Him Of Certificate Forgery, £1.8 Million Debt

A lawyer accused of attempting to extort money from a senator, Andy Uba (APC-Anambra), has dismissed the allegation as false and baseless, saying the dispute between them was over the refusal of the senator to settle his professional fee.
Mr. Uba had in a petition published in the media on April 11 accused his former lawyer, Victor Uwaje, of attempting to extort money from him, stressing that the lawyer had threatened to destroy his reputation.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, however, Mr. Uwaje said his dispute with Mr. Uba began after he helped the senator lift a travel ban against him by the United Kingdom.
Mr. Uwaje said he also settled all cases of fraud levelled against Mr. Uba in the United States, but later discovered that the senator’s secondary school leaving certificates had been forged.
“Sometimes in 2012, I met with Senator Andy Uba who briefed me that he had issues with the UK authorities because he was banned in 2008 from entering the United Kingdom, and being a British citizen and a private investigator, he wanted me to lift the exclusion ban on him from entering the UK.
“I met with him at his Asokoro residence where he gave me the power of attorney duly signed by him, both of us appended our signatures. It was authorising me to work on his behalf and he was going to return the expenses back to me that will assist in lifting the ban on him.
“He also had an arrest warrant against him in the State of Los Angeles, he also gave me a power of attorney in 2015 signed by Senator Andy Uba to lift the arrest warrant against him.
“After everything, I sought for my professional fees and sent it to him. It kept lingering, he refused to pay. So, at the end of the day, I filed a court process against him, seeking for payment of my professional fees. The amount in question is £1.8 million,” said Mr. Uwaje.
The lawyer added that the case in court is a legal matter filed in 2016. He added that given the court case, the allegation of blackmail should not have emerged.
“In the Vanguard of yesterday, Andy Uba said I was trying to blackmail him to extort money from him and I want to put the records straight about my dealings with Senator Emmanuel Andy Uba.
“We started from 2016, we have been in court since 2016, so I don’t see the reason he is alluding to blackmail, because we are in court, he was served through the Clerk of the National Assembly. I don’t understand how a case in court is blackmail”.
Mr. Uwaje said he found out about Mr. Uba’s alleged false declaration of asset after studying the documents given to him by the senator and investigating it.
“He presented a lot of documents to be presented to the UK authorities, some forged documents, WAEC certificate and others, which were part of the documents filed in court.
“WAEC confirmed that the certificate Nnamdi Uba is parading is a fake document and I expect the authorities to look into this vehemently because forgery in the National Assembly is alarming and I feel the media is crucial to straightening issues in Nigeria.
“I have received several threats phone calls from the UK, different phone calls from people claiming to be his agents threatening my life.
Mr. Uba was not available to speak on the lawyer’s claims.
The lawmaker’s spokesperson, Onyi Umegibulu, also declined to speak on the issue when contacted on phone.
“I know about it, but I cannot say anything now, since the case is in court”, Mr. Umegibulu told our reporter. - Premium times

The three countries have decided to take a shot at challenging the North American coalition of the United States of America, Mexico and Canada over hosting the 2026 World Cup.

The next two World Cups competition are scheduled to take place in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022).
Former member of Royal Moroccan Football Federation Ahmed Gaibi has been quoted by Assabah as saying, “Ivory coast is the right partner of Morocco in its bid for 2026 World Cup.”
He explained that “Ivory Coast will derive good experience and available  infrastructures from its organization of the 2021 CAN,” in addition to its political stability, its dazzling economic development, and its international status.”
Morocco had previously attempted to host the global competition in 1994, 1998 and 2006.
This time, Morocco’s chance to win the candidacy is thought to be higher, especially because of the country’s growing expertise in organizing international competitions like the FIFA Club World Cup in 2013 and 2014. - MWN

Nigeria's state security agency said on Wednesday it had thwarted plans by Boko Haram militants linked to Islamic State to attack the British and United States embassies in the capital Abuja.

The Department of State Services (DSS) said it arrested five suspected members of the Islamist militant group based in Benue state, in the country's middle belt, between March 25 and 26.

"The group had perfected plans to attack the UK and American Embassies and other western interests in Abuja," it said in an emailed statement.

The security service said another suspected Boko Haram member, arrested on March 22, in northeastern Yobe state, confessed details of the plot. The British High Commission and U.S. embassy in Abuja did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Boko Haram has killed more than 20,000 people and forced more than 2 million to flee their homes since 2009 in an insurgency aimed at creating an Islamic state in the northeast of Africa's most populous nation.

Attacks have also crossed into neighbouring Cameroon and Niger. - Reuters

Maid steals boss’ $10,000 in Lagos, exchanges it at N86/dollar

A housemaid is assisting the Lagos State Police Command with its investigation after she was arrested for stealing her boss’ $10, 000 in Gbagada.
According to reports, Blessing Paul forced her boss’ room opened with a knife while the woman was at work. She was said to have handed the money to the house guard, identified as Daniel, who also gave it to a security man at another residence in the area.

The security man, identified as Amos, allegedly took it to a Bureau de Change operator, who changed the money at N86 per dollar, shortchanging the thieves of over N2m.

However, the BDC operator claimed he received only $5000 from Amos.

Cole said that the BDC operator gave the suspects N870,000 as an equivalent for $5,000, adding that the police have recovered N400,000 from there.
“We also found N400,000 in the maid’s bank account but we are following court’s procedure to seize the money. The BDC operator was allegedly given $10,000 but he claimed he only received $5,000.

A shocked woman found a huge snake lurking in a garden in north-west London.

The Mexican black kingsnake, native in the Americas, had to be rescued by RSPCA officers after it was discovered by the woman at a property in Neasden on Monday last week.

The huge reptile was lured into a box by collection officer Jill Sanders and is now being treated in a specialist centre.

The RSPCA believes the kingsnake escaped from a nearby vivarium.

Ms Sanders said: “The poor thing looked like it had been attacked, perhaps by a cat or a fox, but didn’t appear seriously injured.

“However, I took it to our animal hospital in Putney for a vet check before it was moved to our reptile centre in Brighton.

“I suspect the snake has escaped from a vivarium nearby so I hope we may be able to find the owners.”

A Mexican black kingsnake can usually be found in regions of the Sonora Desert, Northwestern Sinaloa, Mexico, and Arizona.

They are considered popular pets as they are easy to care for, feeding off small rodents, lizards, birds, eggs, and even other snakes.

The RSPCA has appealed for its owners to come forward as the snake will have to be rehomed if officers cannot trace them.

Anyone with information on its owner should call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.

She slaps me often, says divorce seeking man

A 30-year-old man, Abdulrahman Ganiyu, has pleaded with a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, to dissolve his five-month-old marriage on grounds that his wife, Nafisat Oseni, is very troublesome.
“Before I got married to her, she was not like this; but the moment I married her, she became something else.
“It’s like she was just waiting for me to marry her because since we got married, she developed a new character.
She doesn’t take care of the house, she no longer takes instructions from me.’’
Ganiyu also alleged that his wife slaps him at the slightest provocation.
“She is very troublesome and hits my face whenever she is provoked.
"She also receives her male friends as visitors in our house,’’ Ganiyu added.
When asked why he moved out from their matrimonial home, the plaintiff said he found diabolical substances in their home.
“I was left with no option than to move out because I discovered fetish substances around the house on few occasions.
“Also, on one occasion that we had a hot argument, she took a knife from the kitchen to stab me, but I escaped, and after that, I left the apartment for her since February,’’ he added.
He also accused his wife of discussing their family issues with her family members and pleaded with the court to end the marriage.
Responding, Nafisat told the court that she still loves her husband and that both family members would soon meet to resolve their differences.
"She urged the court to give her and her estranged husband some time to resolve their differences.
Sir, it is a new marriage and we are just getting to know each other better; both families are trying to help us; we need a little time to sort out ourselves,’’ she said.
The judge, Mr Hassan Ishaq, urged the couple to be more patient with each other and learn to listen to each other.
"Both of you are still young and you have a lot to learn from the institution of marriage, you also need patience. Try and settle between yourselves before the next adjourned date.’’
He adjourned the matter till April 24 for report of settlement.

Customs officer allegedly rapes, videotapes online friend

A Customs officer, identified simply as Samuel, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly raping and videotaping the nudity of his female friend.

It was gathered that 29-year-old Samuel always threatened to post the clip on the social media whenever he demanded to have sex with her and she refused.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the duo had met on an online dating platform, Badoo, and after establishing a mutual friendship, the Customs man invited her to his house in the Ogba area of Lagos.

Sometime in March 2017, the 26-year-old woman was said to have visited Samuel and after entertaining her, he reportedly made love advances to her, which she allegedly rejected.
Samuel was said to have left her in the apartment, locked the door from outside and went out.
A police source disclosed to our correspondent that Samuel returned home seven hours later when the woman had almost become unconscious, raped her and took a video of her nakedness.
It was learnt that the case was reported to policemen who arrested the suspect on Sunday.
The source said, “The suspect is a Customs officer. He and the victim met on Badoo and he asked her to visit him. She honoured the invitation, unknown to her that he had a hidden agenda.
“He shut her inside and went out. The woman said she called for help to no avail. He returned home seven hours after and met her semi-conscious. Probably, he had put sedatives into a drink he used to entertain her.
"He removed her clothes, raped her and videoed her nakedness. Thereafter, whenever he called her to come to his house and she refused, he would threaten to put the video on the social media and out of fear, she would yield to his request.
“At a point, she declined an invitation to his house and dared him. He sent the video to her relative to show that he meant his threat. The relative and the victim later reported the case to the police, leading to his arrest.”
Our correspondent learnt that the suspect had been transferred to the Sexual and Domestic Violence Unit of the command headquarters in Ikeja for further investigation.
In a briefing on Wednesday at the headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the incident.
The CP, however, did not disclose the full name and other details of the suspect, saying that the public would be properly briefed after the conclusion of investigations.
He said, “The Customs officer has been arrested for the offence and he is being investigated. We assure members of the public that the case will not be swept under the carpet.”
Meanwhile, Owoseni said 18 suspected armed robbers were arrested by the command within two weeks.
He noted that six of the suspects lost their lives in a gun duel with the police, while 14 different kinds of guns with 30 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.
"Fourteen stolen vehicles were also recovered during the period. A combined team of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team and the Marine Police arrested some suspected robbers in Igbeleju, Badagry, and two Ak-47 rifles were recovered during the operation. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang,” he added. - Punch
