Adamawa police arrest two pastors over ‘extra-marital affair’

According to Premium Times, the accused persons — Ebenezer Otinjele and Juliana Daniel — who work at the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC), are being held at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the state.

Otinjele is a pastor with Liberty International Gospel Centre in Yola while Juliana, who ministers at the Encouragement Fellowship International, is the wife to Eli Daniel, an official of the federal ministry of power in Abuja.

It is understood that their arrest came after Juliana’s husband accused the duo of engaging in a sexual relationship

Daniel said his wife had worked under Otinjele when he was the business manager at the YEDC where he claimed they started having sex.

He also said he married her in 2002 and the union has been blessed with five children, “including the two she had with Ebenezer whom she made him to believe” belong to him.

“After our marriage, I secured a job for her in early 2016 where she was posted to Yola Business unit and later deployed to work in the office of the then business manager, Pastor Ebenezer,” Daniel was quoted as saying.

“This is where they started their extramarital relationship. After her deployment to the office of Ebenezer, they started having sexual intercourse to the extent of committing such an act in our matrimonial home at Mbamba.

“They go to the house when the children have gone to school, and that they sometimes send the children to buy something outside if they were at home so as to have space of time.”

According to Daniel, his wife had two children for the clergyman despite being married to him.

Investigation is however ongoing on the matter with the state police command stating that it “will not hesitate to ensure that the law take its course through prosecution”.

Grazing routes: ‘Govt can’t keep applying 15th century solutions to 21st century problems’

Sunday Bamgbose, chairman of the Lagos chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), has called on the federal government to adopt 21st century methods on cattle grazing.

He stated this on Friday in an interview with NAN, while answering questions on how Nigeria can ensure food security.

According to Bamgbose, there would be no positive result on food crisis if the country continues to use old solutions to tackle current problems.

“I don’t expect any positive result if we keep applying 15th century solutions to 21st century problems,” he said.

“Government needs to do a root cause analysis of the problem affecting food production and apply solutions devoid of sentiments.

“It is abnormal that we are still talking of grazing route in this century when we have better options in ranching.”

The chairman called on the government to adopt sustainable policies to ensure the provision of affordable food items to Nigerians.

He also advised the government not to consider criticism of some of its food policies as condemnation, but to instead look at the possibilities for improvement.

While encouraging individuals and corporate organisations to engage in food production to improve the current situation, the chairman recommended that families engage in subsistence farming.

Meanwhile, according to a report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), on Friday, Nigeria recorded its highest jump in food inflation in December due to increase in prices of bread and cereals, potatoes, yam and other tubers, meat, fruits, vegetable, fish and oils, and fats.

Why IPOB won’t work, recognize Obiozor as Ohanaeze President-General – Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Saturday declared that it won’t recognize and work with Professor George Obiozor as President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Kanu explained that Obiozor was imposed on the Southeast by Fulani Canals running Nigeria.

Speaking through IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, Kanu alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari and Miyetti Allah were instrumental in Obiozor’s emergence as Ohanaeze President-General.

A statement by Powerful said: “We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to state without any ambiguity, that we cannot work together with the newly appointed President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief George Obiozor.

“This is because he was imposed on the Igbo socio-cultural body by the Fulani cabal running the failed state of Nigeria. The Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambari and Miyetti Allah were instrumental to the emergence of Obiozor as Ohaneze National President according to our findings.

“IPOB closely monitored the jamboree in the name of election that produced Obiozor as the new Ohanaeze helmsman, critically analysed the antecedents of those behind his emergence and came to the conclusion that we cannot in all honesty work with him because we are not ideologically compatible. Obiozor may not be entirely evil but those behind him are unrepentant.”

Why I did not marry Fela – Onyeka Onwenu

Veteran Nigerian singer, Onyeka Onwenu has revealed that she turned down Music legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti who approached her for marriage in the eighties.

Onyeka who revealed this in her new autobiography, titled “My Father’s Daughter” said she, however, said she rejected Fela’s proposal because of his other wives.

According to the Sun, the ‘One Love’ crooner said she is a possessive lover and did not understand Fela’s love for women.

Narrating how Fela proposed marriage, Onyeka wrote: “The second time I saw Fela was in 1984, a few years after I had returned from the United States. He had just been released from jail.

“He was arrested for attempting to travel with his band for a gig in London with the sum of 1,600 pounds for their hotel accommodation. At the time, carrying any amount of foreign currency was against one of the many decrees promulgated by the Buhari/Idiagbon military junta.

“After he was released from prison, Fela sent a mutual friend, the journalist Onuorah Udenwa who is now a US-based pastor, to bring me to his club. I thought that he probably wanted to thank me for speaking up for him, but that was not it.

“He never even mentioned the article I had written in solidarity with him. Fela wanted to marry me, and I was flattered. I thanked him for the honour of wanting me to become his consort, but I turned him down all the same.”

The music legend and actress added that while she waited at the club to see him, she noticed that his Queen (dancer-wives) had been looking at her with scorn.

“They passed by often, whispering comments about me. They were downright hostile and quite obvious about it.

“I pointed this out to him and told him that I was a possessive lover and would not be able to cope as an appendage to his harem but Fela laughed,” she wrote.

EPL: Lampard opens up on Avram Grant’s return to Chelsea

Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has reacted to reports linking the club’s former coach, Avram Grant, with a return to Chelsea.

Grant has been linked with a return to Chelsea in the past few days.

The Israeli managed Chelsea and Lampard for one season after replacing Jose Mourinho in September 2007.

Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, is said to be considering bringing the 65-year-old back to the Blues to support Lampard.

Speaking on the development, Lampard was quoted by Metro UK as saying ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday evening: “I don’t know anything about it, so I prefer not to go any further with it.

“But in terms of football clubs now, they are huge businesses, a lot of people are employed.

“I remember being here with Jose Mourinho when he won back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006.

“So I don’t want to hang on exactly what it means because in a modern football club there are different roles for different people up and down the club.

“Sometimes, a great line of communication to your board or an experienced person can be a great thing.

“But the most important thing for me always regarding personnel is that the team works together. The team, the club, the staff, that’s the biggest thing.”

Junaid: 99 percent of Buhari’s appointments not based on merit

Junaid Mohammed, a second republic lawmaker, says over 99 percent of Buhari’s appointments are not based on merit.

Mohammed said this in reaction to comments credited to Matthew Kukah, bishop of the Catholic diocese of Sokoto. The bishop had accused Buhari of nepotism.

Speaking with The PUNCH on Friday, the former lawmaker said the issue Kukah raised on nepotism is real.

“I have no problem with part of his (Kukah’s) statement, but I don’t believe he is historically accurate by saying that coups come about when Muslims or northerners find themselves being marginalised,” he said.

“But I have to admit that the core issue he raised about nepotism is real, and of course marginalisation of some certain sections of the country is real and that nepotism is in favour of people that are close to Buhari, particularly his friends, cronies, relations and in-laws.

“Over 99 percent of the appointments Buhari made were not based on merit.

“Anybody who tells you that a nation cannot have more than one civil war is ignorant of history. Several countries, including the English and the Scots as well as Russia, Italy and Germany, have faced several wars. The French have gone through several civil wars.

“There must be a sense of justice among the people. If there is no justice, no matter how much you pray or no matter how much you try to convolute, the real reasons for the war will rear its ugly head and you will see yourself walking into another disaster.”
