NAFDAC DG: Nigeria at risk of coronavirus… we import almost everything except water

NAFDAC DG: Nigeria at risk of coronavirus… we import almost everything except water
Mojisola Adeyeye, director-general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), says Nigeria is at risk of the outbreak of  COVID-19 better known as coronavirus.
At a press conference in Abuja on Monday, she said drug insecurity exposes the country to danger, lamenting the effect of a country importing most of its pharmaceutical products.
Nigeria imports at least 70 percent of its drugs annually from China and India. Such imports reportedly gulped $402.8m million in 2018.
Speaking at the briefing on the upcoming African Medicine Quality Forum (AMQF) meeting in Abuja, Adeyeye said Nigeria should “start praying” because it is exposed to great risk following the outbreak in China.
“Seventy percent of our drugs are imported and the alarm I am sounding now is one everybody should take seriously. We have drug insecurity because of the coronavirus,” NAN quoted her as saying.
“India is already feeling it because they buy most of their materials and active ingredients from China. If India is feeling it, we should start praying because we don’t manufacture anything here except water. We import almost everything – active and non-active ingredients, equipment etc.
“So it is a scary thing, and I have been emphasizing this from day one; we need drug security. Since we import 70 percent of our drugs, then, we are in trouble if such things happen.”
As of Sunday, the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak in mainland China reached 1,770, with more than 70,500 cases reported.
Last week, the federal government opened three centers where the disease can be tested in the country.

Magu: Diezani stole not less than $2.5bn… she must be extradited

Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has again asked the United Kingdom to extradite Diezani Alison-Madueke, former minister of petroleum resources.

The anti-graft agency has filed charges of alleged money laundering against the former minister who left the country for the UK shortly before the inception of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The EFCC started a process to extradite the former minister in November 2018 but Magu later said the agency has been having challenges effecting the former minister’s extradition.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Monday, Magu alleged that Alison-Madueke stole not less than $2.5 billion.

“I was in London this year, we did investigation together with the UK team, and anywhere I go I always call for extradition of corrupt Nigerians to return back the money,” the EFCC boss said.

“This woman has stolen so much, not less than 2.5 billion dollars, but unfortunately she has generation of looters who are supporting her. This is not good.

“We are in touch with the international community, she is under protective custody, otherwise, we would have arrested her, return her to Nigeria.

“We will not allow corruption to work here in Nigeria because it is destructive and disastrous. We blocked several accounts.”

In 2017, a federal high court in Lagos ordered the forfeiture of N7.6 billion allegedly linked to her to the federal government.

A federal high court in Abuja had later threatened to strike out fraud charges brought against Alison-Madueke over the continued absence of the accused.

Luis Figo gives verdict on Man Utd midfielder, Bruno Fernandes

Portuguese legend, Luis Figo, has given his judgment on midfielder, Bruno Fernandes’ move to Manchester United.

Fernandes joined Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side last January transfer window from Sporting Lisbon.

The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star stated this ahead of Man United’s Premier League clash against Chelsea on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
“Bruno Fernandes is one of the best players in Portugal,” Figo told Sky Sports.
“He has great qualities as a midfielder, he can score many goals.

“I feel it was a good buy for Man United.
“I hope that he will integrate quickly in the Premier League.”

Trump’s pastor urges followers fund church instead of paying for electricity

Paula White-Cain and Trump
Paula White-Cain, a prosperity gospel minister who serves part-time as President Donald Trump’s “spiritual adviser,” has urged her church members to fund the church first, even if it means not paying their residential monthly electricity bills
A lengthy report on White by Mother Jones reveals that the Trump-loving preacher recently told followers at her Supernatural Ministry School in Miami that they could secure God’s favour by sending her church as much money as possible — even if that meant skipping their monthly electricity bills.
In particular, White said that followers who send their money to Florida Power and Light (FPL) every month instead of giving it to her church are treating the electric company better than they treat God.
“Instead of writing [that check] to the house of God as I’m instructed to, then what I’m saying spiritually is, ‘FPL, I have now established a spiritual law that put you first,’” White explained to her flock. “So, FPL, save my family, FPL, deliver my drug addicted son. FPL, kill this cancer that doctors say is in my body.”
Over the next half hour, White built to a crescendo, shed many tears, spoke in tongues, and implored people to give. Hundreds of people streamed down the aisles to throw envelopes of money at her feet. “The First Fruits sets the pattern and establishes the destiny for what is left,” she cried.
“Many of you need to bring a First Fruit offering right now!” Mostly Latino apostles and prophets from the church brought baskets to the front to collect the offerings.
White, who opened the National Day of Prayer Event at the White House in 2017 and who has just landed an official job at the White House, has drawn criticism from many Christians over the years, including her business in which she sells believers “resurrection seeds” that will grant them eternal life for the low price of just $1,144.
White, a 53-year-old Evangelist who is married to Journey pianist Jonathan Cain, has been the pastor to Trump and his family since 2001, when he spotted her on a Christian television show.
The Apopka, Florida, resident’s new book, “Something Greater” (FaithWords), chronicles those early days with the president, who was at the time a twice-divorced bachelor rebuilding his empire.

Meet the guy who poses in cyberspace as CBN governor Emefiele

Julius Nwalozie Onyebuchi, alias Dr. Godwin Emefiele, the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria has been sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine.
The sentence was handed down to the fake Emefiele by Justice Agatha Anulika Okeke of the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State at the weekend.
Onyebuchi was arraigned by the Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a one-count charge, bordering on impersonation and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N4.5million.
Nwalozie’s journey to jail began on December 6, 2019 when he was arrested by the operatives of Uyo Zonal Office of the Commission, based on reliable intelligence on the activities of internet fraudsters, operating in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Upon arrest, the convict confessed to the crime and a forensic analysis of the HP laptop recovered from him further implicated him as several incriminating documents of false pretence and fraudulent extortions were printed from his laptop which he also admitted, emanated from him.
Investigation also revealed that the convict’s specialty was Business Email Compromise-BEC and his modus operandi involved searching for email addresses via Google search and sending convincing emails to his victims. He also confessed to have used a particular email address, (emefielegodwin586@yahoo.com) purportedly belonging to the C.B.N governor, Dr. Godwin Emefiele in defrauding one Omar Deep, who thought he was actually dealing with the real C.B.N Governor.
The one-count charge against the convict reads: “That you, Nwalozie Onyebuchi Julius (alias Dr. Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria) on or about 26th day of August, 2019 in Nigeria within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, fraudulently impersonated one Dr. Godwin Emefiele, the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria by using email address: emefielegodwin586@yahoo.com, with intent to obtain money, property or any advantage from one Omar Deep and other unsuspecting persons, the pretence you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 22 (2) (b) (ii) of the Cybercrime (Provision, Prevention Etc) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22 (2) (b) (iv) of the same Act.”
He pleaded guilty to the charge, prompting Joshua Abolarin, the prosecuting counsel to pray the court to review the facts of the case through a prosecution witness, Haliru Abubakar Bagudo, an operative of the EFCC.
While reviewing the facts of the case, the prosecution tendered various exhibits through Bagudo, which were admitted in evidence. Consequently, Abolarin prayed the court to invoke Section 274 (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA and convict the defendant in view of the evidence adduced and the plea of th
In his judgment, Justice Okeke said she was satisfied with the evidence before the court that the defendant was guilty as charged.
“Prosecution has proven beyond reasonable doubt that the defendant, Nwalozie Onyebuchi Julius, committed the offence as charged. I therefore convict you accordingly. The court equally takes cognisance of the spree with which fraudsters defraud innocent citizens and therefore sentence you Nwalozie Onyebuchi Julius to three years imprisonment with effect from the date of your arrest.”
Additionally the convict forfeited his Hp laptop, which was his instrument of crime as well as the N1million recovered from him to the Federal Government.

Insecurity: We’ll take on Buratai’s soldiers working with Miyetti Allah bandits, terrorists – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Monday, vowed to “take on” Fulani terrorists in the Southeast.

IPOB urged people of southeast to be prepared to expunge Fulani terrorists from the region.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the separatist group alleged that soldiers under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai were working “hand in hand” with Miyetti Allah bandits and terrorists.

The statement reads partly: “What is unfolding before our very eyes today in Nigeria with soldiers working hand in hand with known terrorists and Miyetti Allah bandits to broaden the theater of endless cycle of slaughter and mayhem, especially in Biafraland, particularly with recent killings in Delta State of Biafraland as confirmation that only the divine words of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and actions of IPOB can save the people.
“It is now as clear as broad daylight that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been right along and those that mischievously accused him of hate speech are themselves the beneficiaries of the booming terror industry in Nigeria.
“The mind-boggling accuracy of the prophetic predictions of our leader should cause every right-minded person to ponder over the words and prophecies of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in-depth to appreciate its magnitude and force. In 2014, before the murderous tendencies of Miyetti Allah was unleashed on hapless Nigerians, way before Fulani herdsmen, bandits, foreign fighters, ISWAP, Ansaru, Al-Qaeda in the Mahgreb descended on innocent citizens with the fury of a Biblical plague; way before the emergence of the roundly hopeless and despotic regime of late Major-Gen. Buhari, our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said it live on air during his prophetic message of 6th February, 2014 on Radio Biafra that:

“If anything encapsulates the idiocy, double standards and duplicity of rulers of Nigeria in ongoing lawlessness in the British contraption, it is the behaviour of Buratai and his Janjaweed army.
“This is another one-time accomplishment and fulfillment of the prophecy from our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Therefore, we are calling on our people to be prepared because we are going to take on Fulani terrorists in our land.”

8 YEARS OF BLAME GAME !!! Boko Haram: ‘Blame crisis on Libya, proliferation of arms, not Service Chiefs’ – Presidency

The presidency has asked Nigerians not to blame Service Chiefs for the prolonged Boko Haram insurgency.

Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this on NTA’s ‘Good Morning Nigeria’ programme.
The comment follows calls for the president to rejig the security architecture of the country.
He noted that challenges in the war against Boko Haram is caused by the Libyan crisis and proliferation of small arms from the country.
Shehu stated that the Nigerian military deserves commendation and support from citizens.
He said, “Our Armed Forces are doing an enormously good job, they are not sitting on their laurels but the challenges have mounted because of factors extraneous to the region and Nigerians should have an appreciation and be sympathetic and see that all of the things about the collapse of Libya is no fairytale.
“Europeans for their competing interests in Libya were dropping weapons into villages in Libya. A lot of these elements have found their way into ungoverned spaces in the Sahel.
“Could it be better with the sacking of the service chiefs? My sense is that the President as the commander-in-chief is not a novice in the first instance.
Shehu pointed out that Buhari “was a military commander, a military head of state and the latitude of opinions intellectual, security, military available to him is not available to most of the critics.”
He lambasted them for trying “to interlope in a way and begin to speak on matters of which they do not have the competence to pass judgement.”

Leah Sharibu: How Buhari’s negotiation with Boko Haram terrorists to release Dapchi Christian girl failed

It has been revealed that much earlier in the days of her abduction by the Boko Haram terrorists, there was a spirited attempt by the Federal Government, acting through third parties, to pay a ransom in a bid to secure the release of Leah Sharibu.

However, her abductors who had made the financial demand backed out when payment was offered, DAILY POST understands.

Top sources in the Presidency confided in DAILY POST last night that the money was all ready to be delivered when the terrorists who had made the request for a specific amount totalling several tonnes of millions of Naira in hard currency, changed their minds and rejected any ransom.
The sources said that President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government reached an agreement after a long communication procedure only to be turned back after an agreement.

In the circumstances, the Federal Government determined to secure the release requested for an explanation as to the sudden refusal to receive the ransom by the terrorists only to be told by some third line communication channels that the terrorists decided they would never accept a ransom on Leah because they hoped to use her abduction to rankle religious passion and possibly cause a religious war in the country if they could.

According to a government source, “While the FG remains strongly committed to securing the release of Leah and all other identified and unidentified abductees, by any means necessary, the terrorists chose much earlier after Leah’s abduction to use her to fan religious embers and cause devastating division in the country. And that was why the terrorists rejected the ransom government security agencies prepared to pay for Leah’s release.”
The source explained further that top presidential officials still encouraged FG officials to remain actively engaged with the channels of communication and the negotiators until a positive resolution is secured “because the President has set a firm target and resolve to ensure the freedom of Leah and others by any means necessary.”

It would be recalled that on February 19, 2018, at 5:30 pm, 110 schoolgirls aged 11–19 years old were kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorist group from the Government Girls’ Science and Technical College (GGSTC). Dapchi is located in Bulabulin, Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State, in the northeast part of Nigeria.

The Federal Government of Nigeria deployed the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to search for the missing schoolgirls and to hopefully enable their return and on 21 March 2018, 104 out of the 110 abducted girls were released.
A total of 110 girls were originally kidnapped, but five did not survive the ordeal and one other – Leah Sharibu, who was kept by the terrorists for reportedly refusing to denounce her faith.

The Federal Government had on several occasions said it was doing its best to ensure the safe release of Leah Sharibu.

This is as the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN had warned that there may be a religious war in the country should the innocent schoolgirl, die in captivity.

Miss Sharibu had reportedly made an unsuccessful attempt to escape
