Trump: I have 'absolute right' to share facts with Russia

President Trump early Tuesday said he has an "absolute right" to share facts with Russia after a report late Monday that he revealed highly classified intelligence to Russian officials during a meeting last week.

"As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining...to terrorism and airline flight safety," the president tweeted.
"Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism."

The Washington Post first reported that Trump revealed highly classified intelligence information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador while meeting with them last week at the White House.

Trump allegedly revealed "code-word information" related to threats from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) that had been provided by a U.S. ally in the region, according to the Post.

One U.S. official told the newspaper that the information was so sensitive it had not been provided to U.S. allies.
Trump discussed the information, according to the report, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office during a meeting last Wednesday - a day after he fired former FBI Director James Comey.
