Resign, Go Home and Make Peace With God – Fani-Kayode Tells Buhari

Former controversial Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, go home and make peace with God over his ailing health.

Fani-Kayode in his recent article titled, “THE RESURRECTION OF CORPSOCRACY”, warned that what happened to the late President Umaru Musa Yar Adua might be knocking at the door of Buhari.

“Whoever is holding this poor, frail, sick and elderly man to ransom and keeping him in the Presidential Villa, probably against his will, is wicked and ungodly and he or she is committing a grave sin against God and the Nigerian people”.

“It is clear that the President is no longer fit to govern. It is obvious that his time is almost up. It is self-evident that for him the bell is tolling.

“It is incontrovertible that those around him have held him captive and are indulging in what I once described in an essay that I wrote seven years during the last days of President Umaru Yar’adua as “corpocracy”. The essay was titled ”Corpocracy: A Gift From Umaru To The Modern World”.

“This is what happened during Yar’adua’s last four months on earth whilst he still had one foot in the land of the living and it is happening to Buhari today,” he wrote.

Husband And Wife Arrested For Armed Robbery In Ogun state

Officers of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Ogun State, have arrested one Mathew Abioro and his wife, Precious, for reportedly engaging in armed robbery and serving as receivers of stolen items.

News Telegraph reeports that the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, revealed that the robbery gang had planned to carry out an operation before meeting their waterloo, adding the couple had confessed to the crime.

The PPRO disclosed that a pump action gun, one cut-to-size single-barrelled pistol, one cut-to-size double-barrelled pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. .

He said: “The couple were arrested when men of FSARS received information that some notorious armed robbers who have been terrorising Abeokuta and Sango axis are planning to carry out another operation consequent upon which their hideout was stormed and the couple was arrested.

On interrogation, they confessed being involved in a series of armed robbery within and outside Abeokuta metropolis. They equally confessed being receivers of stolen motorcycles from other robbery gangs and that they used to sell such motorcycles to Benin Republic and used the proceeds to purchase arms and ammunition which they use for their own operations.”

Plane crashes in US next to a busy street, sending giant fireballs in the sky

A car dash-cam captured plane crashes in US on a busy street in Mukilteo, Washington, on Tuesday.

As cars inched forward in traffic, a plane flies into view. It clips power lines and crashes, sending two giant fireballs into the sky. Fortunately, no one — the pilot or his passenger — was injured, police said.

Investigators told CNN affiliate  that the plane took off from a nearby airport around 3.30 p.m. and, shortly afterward, began losing engine power.

Unable to make it back to the airport, the pilot tried to land on a clear road when he clipped the power lines and a street light. The collision ruptured a fuel cell, causing the explosion that the video captured.

The explosion knocked out power to the area. But it was quickly restored.

Somalia's youngest minister shot dead in Mogadishu

Somalia’s youngest minister has been shot dead in an incident close to the presidential palace in the capital Mogadishu.

The 31-year-old Abbas Abdullahi Sheik Siraji was appointed Minister of Public Works and Reconstruction by Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre in March this year.

A Voice of America journalist in the country, Harun Maruf, confirmed that Siraji was shot by the bodyguards of another government officials.

The slain minister was driving his car when the government soldiers opened fire and killed him in the process. It is unclear the motive behind the shooting.

Local media sources are also reporting that the soldiers behind the killing had been arrested. The country has been suffering a surge of attacks in recent times by insurgent group, Al-Shabaab.

The President, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmajo declared war on the insurgent group but has also opened an Amnesty window for them.

In the early days of his presidency, he pledged a $100,000 reward for information leading to the thwarting of suicide bomb attacks in the country. Somalia amid the security situation is also suffering from an acute famine.

Photos Of The University Of Ibadan Student Who Jumped To Her Death

The Oyo State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of Miss Deborah Effiong, a 100-level Law student at the University of Ibadan.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude, made this known in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Ibadan.

Odude said police investigation into the incident followed the report by the university’s authority.

He gave an assurance that the outcome of the investigation would be made public as soon as it was completed.

The University of Ibadan had on Wednesday issued a statement through its Director of Public Communication, Mr Olatunji Oladejo, announcing the death of Effiong.

Oladejo expressed the regret of the university management over the sudden death of the student at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

“Her sudden death, however, remains a mystery and it is in the light of this that the university management wishes to state that the cause(s) of her death are still being investigated by the appropriate authorities.

“Her parents had been duly contacted by the relevant key officers of the university on the loss.

“It is pertinent to state that by the tradition of the Queen Elizabeth II Hall where she was a resident, an event tagged “Freshers/Finalists’ Week’’ was organised by the Hall’s Executive Committee.

“The first day being Monday, 01 May, 2017 featured ‘’Health Day’’ in the morning and “Movie Show’’ at 7.00pm.

“Her colleagues reported that the deceased was seen at the Hall Cafeteria, the venue of the Movie Show and it was reported that her “normal self’’ was seen at about 8.40 pm.

“Thereafter, she received a telephone call from a fellow; she left the venue of the movie show to meet the caller.

“The fellow had been identified after her death by the Campus Security Service,’’ Oladejo said.

He further explained that on getting back to the venue of the movie show, her colleagues stated that she suddenly became hyperactive and developed a strange attitude.

Oladejo added that her colleagues said Effiong danced abnormally and excessively in the cafeteria after the meeting.

“It was further revealed that she left the venue of the movie show and, thereafter, there was a bang, which her colleagues explained, she jumped from a dangerous position in the Hall.

“She was later found by her colleagues in a seemingly helpless condition in the precinct of the Hall and immediately, she was rushed to the university’s health centre by her colleagues and porters on duty.

“She was later referred to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for further medical attention where all efforts to save her life proved abortive,’’ Oladejo said.

Effiong was said to have died overnight at the tertiary health institution.

University Of Jos Bans Indecent Dressing

The leadership of the University of Jos has moved to curb the spate of sexual immorality among ladies with a check on their mode of dressing.

Authorities of the University of Jos on Wednesday directed its security agencies to arrest any student whose dressing assaults the sensibilities of the members of the university community.

The institution also warned that improperly dressed students would be barred from entering offices and attending lecturers.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNIJOS, Prof Sebastian Maimako, gave the directive in Jos on Wednesday during the matriculation ceremony for 7,000 students for the 2016/2017 academic session.

According to him, 31,759 candidates chose UNIJOS as their first choice with 25,785 for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and 5,974 for Direct Entry in the 2016/2017 session.

The VC said that although the social media had remained the vogue of the present society, it should not be used for negative reasons.

He said, “In line with the extant rules of the university, no student is permitted to publish anything concerning the university without the written permission of the vice-chancellor through the registrar.”

T.B Joshua: OAP Daddy Freeze questions Lai Mohammed over appeal to pastor

Nigeria’s controversial On-Air Personality, OAP, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze has called out Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed over his appeal to General Oversee of the Synagogue of all Nations, Prophet T.B Joshua against relocating his ministry from Nigeria to Israel.The social commentator lashed out on the Nigerian government for urging T.B Joshua to abandon his plan to relocate his ministry to Israel.

Mohammed had during the week appealed to T.B Joshua to stay in Nigeria.

However, Daddy Freeze questioned the rationale behind the public appeal when better attention should be given to the cash-trapped companies giving oxygen to the local economy.

He wrote via his Instagram page, “Dear uncle LAI,
“Aren’t you going to give a press statement on Banky’s engagement, as this issue is a matter of national importance, reported by all the newspaper and blogs and has been trending all day on twitter?

“In my humble opinion, I think you should, since you addressed TB Joshua’s proposed relocation.

“Meanwhile, I didn’t see any press conference addressing the Erisco tomato paste manufacturer’s exit from Nigeria to Senegal, sorry I meant Kenya, citing government policy inconsistencies among the many other issues, catalytic to the creation of ‘the harsh realities of doing business in Nigeria’ that their MD spoke about.

“In his own words, Chief Eric Umeofia stated that the ‘ease of doing business’ was his attraction in opening shop in the other African Nations.
“I have a question: In Nigeria, does ‘the ease of doing business’ only apply to Churches, who are pampered and protected by the government, while most businesses I know suffer?

“I read online yesterday that MTN sacked 280 workers, somewhere else, I read the heart wrenching details of why Econet was forced to leave Nigeria. What about the Virgin Nigeria exit?
