Fulani herdsmen: Buhari values his ‘gay cows’ than lives of Benue people – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, former Presidential aide has berated President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to visit Benue State, following killing perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.

The former Personal Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said Buhari prefered to visit his “gay cows” in Daura, Katina State than visit Benue.

In a tweet via his social media handle, the former presidential aide stressed that Buhari’s action had shown that cows were more important to him than the lives of Benue people.

The United States, US-based Pastor wrote: “The funny thing is that President Buhari has still not visited Benue where killer Fulani herdsmen killed Nigerians but he has visited Daura to tend to his 150 gay cows that don’t increase in number.

“It seems his cows are more important to Buhari than Benue people.” - Daily Post

Google honours late Stephen Keshi with Doodle

Former Super Eagles Captain, Late Stephen Keshi, has been honoured with a Google doodle.

The technology giant honoured the Nigerian football icon  by creating a doodle to mark his 56th birthday.

Doodle is a special logo on Google’s homepage that is temporarily alternated to celebrate holidays, events, achievements and people.

Late Keshi won the African Cup of Nations in 2013 when he coached the Nigerian team and in 2014, he became the first coach of an African nation to make it to the knockout round of a World Cup.

Keshi is one of the only two men to have won the Nations Cup as a player and a manager.

Failed presidency !!! Ogbeh shouldn’t mislead us by referring to ranches as colonies - Falana

Femi Falana, human rights lawyer, has asked the federal government not to confuse the people by renaming cattle ranches as colonies.

Killings by herdsmen in various parts of the country led the government to propose the establishment of cattle colonies.

Audu Ogbeh, minister of agriculture, who said the establishment of the colonies will take effect this week,  made a strong case for the project.

“When we spoke of colonies, we were immediately greeted with reactions that this was an attempt to cease Nigeria’s land and give to the Fulanis to colonise,” Ogbeh had said.

“The intention is not for Fulanis or anyone to colonise any territory. Colonies and ranches are the same thing in many ways except that a colony is bigger than a ranch.

“In Colony 20, 30 ranchers can share the same colony, a ranch is usually owned by an individual or company with few numbers of cows, in a cattle colony you could find 100, 200, 300 cows owned by different individuals.”

Reacting in a statement, Falana said referring to the closed grazing project as colonies might mislead herders to think they can colonise the states they are given lands to ranch.

He said Ogbeh had proposed the idea of ranching for over a year but it was “jettisoned to the detriment of peace and stability of the nation”.

“But having lost thousands of people and destruction of properties worth billions of naira in avoidable clashes between farmers and herdsmen in several parts of the country the federal government has now decided to establish the ranches,” Falana said.

“While this belated decision is a welcome development, Chief Audu Ogbe should be restrained from causing confusion by giving the misleading impression that the federal government intends to allow owners of cattle to colonise the states that have donated land for the establishment of ranches.

“In other words, Chief Ogbeh should not be allowed to sabotage the establishment of the ranches with his pet project of ‘Cattle Colonies’.

“Since a ranch is a large area of land acquired for raising grazing livestock such as cattle or sheep for the production of meat the proposed, ranches should not be called ‘cattle colonies.” - Cable Nigeria

Shithole republic !!! Police confirms Fulani herdsmen’s attack on Falae’s farm

The Ondo State Police command has confirmed that Chief Olu Falae’s farm was set ablaze by suspected herdsmen on Sunday evening.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Femi Joseph who confirmed the incident in a Telephone chat with DAILY POST said the command had began investigation on the matter.

He said “I can confirm to you that part of the farm was set on fire. Our men headed by the area commander, Ala, are on the farm trying to put out the fire

” Unfortunately, the fire fighter said the do not have any equipment to help us. What we are doing now is damage control to ensure that the fire does not escalate and cause more damage

“For now, we spoke with Chief Falae CSO, he said he suspected the Fulani herdesmen. Nobody was caught in the act, nobody was seen at the scene

” We have started our investigation to see if the suspect could be linked to the offense. But we are assuring members of the public that whoever is involved in the act will face the full wrath of the law “.

The elder statesman has also confirmed to newsmen that herdsmen has attacked his farm again.

He explained that the attacked farm was a five acres farmland that has palm trees, cassava and yam, located at Imafon Community in Akure South Local Government area of Ondo State.

Falae said “They have again burnt my farm, the Fulani herdsmen.They do that every year. As I speak to you the Akure area commander, my P.A and farm manager have visited the place”.

He said Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has called to confirm the incident and also promised to visit the farm tomorrow. - Daily Post

Auto Mechanic remanded in Kirikiri prison for raping 13-year-old girl in workshop

An auto mechanic, Mfon Iyang, who allegedly raped a teenage girl, was on Monday, remanded in Kirikiri prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The suspect, 55, resides at Fagba, a suburb of Lagos and is facing a 1-count charge bordering on rape.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rachael Donny, told the court that the offence was committed on Jan. 8 at the workshop of the accused in Fagba, Lagos.

Sgt Donny said that the 13-year-old girl was sent on an errand to the workshop by her brother.

“When the girl got there, she met only the accused and after delivering the message, she was about going when he dragged her inside the workshop.

“The accused covered her mouth so that her voice would not be heard and raped her,” Donny said.

Donny added that the girl cried to the house and told the brother what happened.

“The case was reported at the police station and the accused was arrested,” he said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Folakemi Davies-Abegunde, refused to grant the bail application for the accused and ordered his remand in prison.

Davies-Abegunde adjourned the case till February 14 for hearing on bail application.

The offence, he said, contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

US citizen jailed in Cambodian for raping boy

A 79-year-old American man was sentenced to one year in prison for raping a 10-year-old boy in Siem Reap in 2017, local media reported on Monday.

According to the Phnom Penh Post newspaper, John Paul Zollbrecht was sentenced by the Siem Reap Provincial court on Wednesday to one year imprisonment.

His accomplice, Nheb Sophorn, a 23-year-old Cambodian, who allegedly helped facilitate the abuse, received a harsher punishment and was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in prison.

Both men were charged and found guilty of having a sexual intercourse with a minor.

Zollbrecht, who ran a community education centre in Siem Reap, was arrested by authorities in February 2017 following a tip-off from an anti-pedophile organisation Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE).

The Post reported that the judge did not order Zollbrecht to be deported.

According to a press statement issued by APLE on Friday, the family of the boy is not satisfied with the short sentence and will appeal the verdict.

Suspected ritualists murder septuagenarian in Delta

Some suspected ritualists have been arrested in Delta State for allegedly strangulating a 74- year -old woman.

The Police Command in Delta State said the suspects buried the deceased in a shallow grave behind her shop at former toll gate in Asaba, the state capital.

The command’s spokesman, Andrew Aniamaka, said the suspects were apprehended by security operatives who acted on a tip-off.

He said the two suspects reside in Omeregboma and Odozi Obodo market axis in Oshimili South local government area of the state.

He said: “The two suspects conspired between themselves and strangled the victim to death and later buried her in a shallow grave close to her store near the former toll gate.”

The police PRO said the case is under investigation, adding that the suspects would be charged to court after the investigation.
