Video : Hamou banned for reporter kiss

Maxime Hamou has been banished from the French Open after he kissed TV journalist Maly Thomas in a live interview following his first-round exit.

Footage of the interview showed world No 287 Hamou, 21, pulling Thomas close before kissing her on the side of the head and, although the reporter looked embarrassed and tried to push him away, he kissed her again.

Thomas told the French edition of the Huffington Post: "It was frankly unpleasant.
"If it hadn't been live on air, I would have punched him."
And the French tennis federation said in a statement on Tuesday: "The management of the tournament has decided to revoke Maxime Hamou's accreditation following his reprehensible behaviour with a journalist yesterday."

Hamou has apologised for his behaviour via French newspaper l'Equipe and offered to meet Thomas to say sorry in person.
He said: "I want to offer my deepest apologies to Maly Thomas if she felt hurt or shocked by my attitude during her interview.

"I just lived a wonderful week here in Roland Garros living my most beautiful emotions as a tennis player, and I let my overflow of enthusiasm express myself awkwardly towards Maly, who I know and sincerely respect.

"Nothing of all that is written was my intention.
"I am at her disposal to apologise to her in person if she so wishes. I learn every day from my mistakes to become a better tennis player and a better person."

Broadcaster Eurosport said: "We sincerely regret the incident that occurred during yesterday evening's interview between Maly Thomas and Maxime Hamou.

"The behaviour of the interviewee was highly inappropriate and we do not condone such conduct in any way.
"Maly is a highly respected journalist and we are pleased that a full apology is being offered."

Arsene Wenger agrees new two-year deal

Arsene Wenger will today agree a two year contract to stay at Arsenal.

The 67-year-old boss, will attend today's board meeting where his future, summer plans and a backroom reshuffle will be discussed.

But Mirror Sport understands that Wenger will stay and the deal has now been agreed with a formal announcement to follow on Wednesday.

There will be some degree of change after amicable talks between Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has always been a huge admirer of Wenger and has been fully supportive of Wenger.

Frenchman Wenger, who joined the club in 1996, has always wanted to stay.
And while this contract was on the table long before Wembley, the FA Cup has helped change the mood among many fans.

He has held discussions since Saturday and it is understood now that everything is in place for him to stay until at least 2019.

Tiger kills female zookeeper in London

A tiger killed a female zookeeper Monday at a zoo 80 miles north of London. “A tiger had entered an enclosure with a keeper. Sadly the female zookeeper died at the scene,” Cambridgeshire Police said in a statement.

Police said they were called to Hamerton Zoo Park late Monday morning.The tiger never escaped from the enclosure, and police said foul play was not suspected in the keeper’s death.

Visitors were evacuated when the incident began and an air ambulance was summoned to provide emergency help for the victim.
A visitor evacuated from the zoo told BBC:

 "I was taking pictures of the leopards. The parrots were flying and squeaking and going berserk.
"Then staff were running towards the tigers and lions area. We were all told to leave the park. But after 20 minutes everyone was allowed back in.
"Staff asked us to leave again. They're not saying what happened. However, they were great. They were calm, just doing their job."

Police arrest 2 doctors, nurses who helped Lagos pastor procure four abortions on teenage girl

The Police in Lagos State have arrested two medical doctors and two nurses who allegedly carried out abortions on a teenager, who was impregnated by a pastor at the Agodo-Egbe branch of a popular Pentecostal church.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and later discharged after it was discovered that the pregnancy was not properly evacuated.

The teenager said the pastor had been sexually violating her since she started living with him at age 10.

She said the pastor had impregnated her four times, alleging that with the connivance of a doctor, her guardian perfected four abortions on her without her consent.

The bubble burst last Tuesday after the victim, who had just returned from a lab where the fourth pregnancy was illegally terminated, fainted while packing her belongings as she tried to leave the pastor’s house.

She was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that the pregnancy was not properly evacuated.

During interrogation, the suspect, who was apprehended by residents and handed over to police at Area ‘M,’ Idimu, indicted two doctors and two nurses.

Among the suspects was a popular columnist on health matters in one of the national dailies.

The girl identified the doctors as those who had carried out abortion on her.

She disclosed that one of the doctors carried out three abortions, while the other did it once.

Her words,

“I started living with daddy (the suspect) after the demise of my parents at age 10. He would give me some drugs to drink and also put on adult film.

“Each time I got pregnant, he would take me to a hospital. Whenever this doctor (pointing at one of them) wanted to do it, he would inject me, saying that the injection was for malaria.

“He would also tell me that it might result to me loosing blood.”

The police said the suspects will be charged to court.

Benue Deputy Gov’s wife allegedly slaps,bans police orderly over alleged affair with her husband

Justice Mary Abounu, wife of the Benue State deputy governor, Engineer Benson Abounu, reportedly slapped her police orderly, Inspector Jane Agbo, over an accusation that she was having a secret sexual relationship with her husband.

According to the Nigerian Concord, the assault took place at the deputy governor’s lodge, Makurdi.

The newspaper reported that, the incident has made the Nigeria Police Command in the state to redeploy the officer back to Otukpo Division.

Mrs Abounu had accused her police orderly, Inspector Jane Agbo, who started working with her as an Orderly since when she was a court judge, of sleeping with the deputy governor.

Report has it that the Benue second lady had at several times confronted her police orderly, asking her to confess if the rumour she was receiving that she was sleeping with her husband was true or not.

Inspector Jane Agbo, a single lady, has denied the allegation and tried on several occasions to make her madam believe that there was nothing between her and the deputy governor.

The straw that finally broke the camel’s back happened recently when, the deputy governor’s wife couldn’t hold her peace.

It was gathered that, on that fateful day, Mrs Abounu allegedly asked the orderly to wait behind after their schedules for the day.

While Inspector Agbo was waiting, Mrs Abounu came to her and threatened to assault her openly if she didn’t confess to the lingering rumour that she was sleeping with her husband secretly.

It was during a heated argument between the two, that Mrs Abounu slapped Inspector Jane Agbo several times, after which, she ordered her out of the deputy governor’s lodge.

It was gathered that, Mrs Abounu left a serious instruction that the female Orderly shouldn’t be allowed into the lodge again.

As instructed, the security operatives at the deputy governor’s lodge turned the police orderly back when she came to resume her duties the following morning.

On hearing that, Inspector Jane Agbo returned to Benue Command headquarters in Makurdi, where she was told of her immediate redeployment to Otukpo Divisional Police Headquarters.

When contacted on Sunday, through telephone, Inspector Agbo confirmed her redeployment as a result of the heated argument and assault she got from the deputy governor’s wife, two weeks ago. - Daily Post

Nigerian nurse allegedly kills 98-year-old patient after breaking her leg

A Nigerian nursing assistant intentionally broke his 98-year-old patient's leg before she died while undergoing surgery to fix it, police say.

Hakim Ogunkunle, 43, is facing aggravated battery charges for allegedly injuring his patient, Edna Warren, while she was under his care on Tuesday, at the Newnan Health and Rehabilitation in Georgia.,Mail online reports.

Warren was rushed to the Piedmont Newnan Hospital to have emergency surgery, but died during the procedure.
This nurse assistant has a past charge of battery against patients in personal care at a home, hospice, or long term care facility or assisted living, but wasn’t prosecuted.
