Internet rallies around 2-year-old who teaches salesperson a lesson in racial equality

What does it take to make an adult more tolerant of others?
A 2-year-old girl from South Carolina, apparently.
American toddler Sophia shut down some racially intolerant comments at a toy store over the weekend, when the salesperson at the till questioned her choice of doll.
Her mum Brandi Benner posted a photo of Sophia and the doll on Instagram, explaining how after one month of being potty trained, the 2 year old was allowed to choose a doll from the toy store as a reward.
Sophia chose a "doctor doll" because she wants to be a doctor when she's grown up, Benner explained. When she took the black doll to the counter, she was asked by a salesperson: "Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?" When Sophia said "Yes", the salesperson continued. "She doesn't look like you," the woman said. "We have lots of other dolls that look more like you."

Before Benner could say anything to the woman, Sophia had already started giving her lesson in diversity.
"She's a doctor like I'm a doctor," she said. "And I'm a pretty girl and she's a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?"
"This experience just confirmed my belief that we aren't born with the idea that colour matters," Benner said. "Skin comes in different colours just like hair and eyes and every shade is beautiful."
Sophia's message didn't just affect her mum and the salesperson. Benner's Instagram post has garnered more than 2,600 likes and 457,000 reactions on Facebook.

Sophia for Surgeon General, 2050? She has our vote.
