Chelsea miss out on Golovin to Arsenal
Chelsea appear to have lost the battle to sign CSKA Moscow youngster Aleksandr Golovin, who is closing in on a move to Arsenal.
The Mirror reports that the 21-year-old is set to become Arsenal’s second signing of the summer, following defender Sead Kolasinac through the doors at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the attacker may head straight back to Russia and spend next season on loan with his current club, with CSKA officials hoping to keep him for another year as part of the deal.
Golovin had previously been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Antonio Conte determined to bolster his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.
In 20 league appearances, this season the Russian international scored three times and laid on four assists, helping CSKA to a second place finish.
The Gunners are set to rebuild their squad this summer after missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League.
