United captain and outcast Wayne Rooney is struggling to find a new club this summer – after being told he can leave by Jose Mourinho.
According to the Mirror, Rooney could face being trapped on the bench next season after receiving no offers near enough to his £300,000 per week contract.
United are believed to want a hefty fee for the 31-year-old, which is said to be putting off any potential suitors.
Rooney himself is willing to leave the club in order to obtain any sort of regular game time after Mourinho suggested – in his team selection – that he is not good enough for the team’s progressing squad.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman publicly declared his desire to bring Rooney back to the club this summer but the deal is seemingly off, with wages being the main obstacle in negotiations.
The inevitable links to the Chinese Super League have now cooled off, with it understood that Rooney and his family wouldn’t be keen on moving his family to the Far East.
