The first nominees for this year's Ballon D'Or award have been announced by France Football magazine.
Thirty nominees are set to be included on this year's long-list, which will be announced throughout the day on Monday.
The award recognises the best player in the world over the past year, and since 2016 has been run independently of Fifa's BEST awards, which saw Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric crowned Best Men's Player last month.
Leading the first group of five nominees is Modric's Real Madrid team mate Gareth Bale, who came off the bench to score twice in last season's Champions League final victory over Liverpool.
Bale's Madrid strike partner Karim Benzema is also nominated, as is Argentine forward Sergio Aguero after spearheading Manchester City's record-breaking Premier League title win.
Alisson took Roma to the Champions League semi-final and was Brazil's number one at the World Cup before joining Liverpool.
Uruguay's Edinson Cavani is the fifth name announced so far, after firing PSG to a domestic treble.- Evening Standard
