Two men, Patrick Akpotor and Evuikowhiroro Omaghomi, who were accused of stealing N143.3 million from Prime Alpha Petroleum Ltd, were Thursday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Akpotor, 62, an accountant and his colleague, Omaghomi, 40, were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing before Mr A. A. Adefulire.
Prosecuting counsel, Charles Odii, told the court that the duo committed the offences between January 2011 and December 2016, at the firm’s office at Engineering Close, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Odii alleged that they conspired with others at large and stole their employer’s N143.3 million.
He said: “Akpotor, as an accountant of Prime Alpha Petroleum, used his position and altered documents by falsifying figures on the record of the company.”
According to him, offences contravened Sections 287(7), 335(a) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Adefulire granted each defendant N20million bail with two sureties in the like sum.
