Safety while handling petroleum products will be the focal point of discussion at the upcoming Lagos state Petroleum Marketers Safety Conference.
The conference, which is scheduled to hold between September 18- 20, is sponsored by United Bank for Africa (UBA Plc), FBN General Insurance and Sovereign Trust Insurance.
The event will be coordinated by J Bendeb Sylmar Associates, an industry safety consultant, in collaboration with Lagos State Safety Commission.
The conference aims at gathering industry experts, regulators and government to a roundtable discussion to deliberate on safety as it concerns the petroleum and its entire value chain.
James Akin Ashokeji, the chief executive officer of J Bendeb Sylmar Associates, mentioned that the conference will turn out to be a rallying point in the industry
“The collaboration with Lagos state will certainly create an avenue for cross-fertilization of ideas, set agenda and define the industry space for petroleum industry space in the state,” he said.
Speakers and international facilitators have indicated interest to participate while key industry leaders in the petroleum sector are billed to expand the discussions and chart a new narrative in the industry.
Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum resources, is the guest of honour while Akinlaja Joseph, the chairman, house committee on petroleum resources (downstream), is the guest speaker.
