The chairman, Bauchi State Internally Displaced Persons, Buba Musa Shehu, has slammed the federal government for stopping all interventions to Northeast IDPs.
Shehu also cried out that some landlords have since sent most IDPs out of their rented apartments over outstanding rents.
He exclusively told DAILY POST in an interview on Wednesday in Bauchi.
He regretted that it’s over one year since the FG, states and LGs made any move to provide any palliative measure to bring succour to victims of insurgents in the Northeast.
” Its over one year that IDPs in Bauchi State stopped receiving relief materials from any tier of government despite repeated promise.”
According to the chairman, lack of adequate medical provision has sent many IDPs to their early grave, leaving relatives in the wave of shock.
He lamented that some IDPs are currently exposed to the rainy season with their respective families after being sent out by their landlords.
” This is the terrible story of IDPs in Northeast now. The government seems not to be willing to assist them any more. This is a result of corruption and impunity,” Shehu fumed.
Shehu noted that poverty and hunger was now the order of the day among IDPs while the FG is watching with keen interest without a solution.
He urged IDPs irrespective of their destination to vote credible candidate of their choice ahead of 2019 election - Daily Post
