Arsenal set to beat Spurs in race to sign Lemar

AS Monaco v Juventus - UEFA Champions League Semi Final: First Leg

Arsenal are set to beat North London rivals Tottenham in the race to sign Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, according to reports from Goal.

Lamar is one of Arsenal’s main transfer targets this summer and after an exceptional season with the French side, where he won Ligue 1 and helped his side reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, it looks like boss Arsene Wenger is set to land his man.

After such a good season, Monaco are at risk of being stripped of a number of key players and as such, they are in a position to be able to ask for high fees, so Arsenal won’t be able to get Lemar on the cheap.

The fee is believed to be in the region of £30 million for the 21-year-old, who isn’t put off by the fact that there will be no Champions League football at the Emirates next season.
The Frenchman found the back of the net 14 times in all competitions last season, providing the same number of assists.
