Aston Villa are trying to bring Chelsea defender Gary Cahill back to the club, according to reports.
The 32-year-old recently stated that he was willing to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea when he was linked with a move, however, Villa will hope that his connection to the club could make him have a change of heart.
Cahill was left out of Maurizio Sarri’s squad for the 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon and it looks like he’ll find it difficult to get regular game time this season.
The defender began his professional career with Aston Villa back in 2004, although he only really had one season, 2006/07, where he seemed to be a regular player.
He left to go to Bolton and eventually joined Chelsea, where he’s won two league titles, the Champions League, the Europa League, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
Villa want to take Cahill on loan, although it is not known if he fancies the move or if Chelsea will be willing to let him leave. - Read Sport
