Members of the Boko Haram terrorists’ group on Friday attacked a convoy of the Borno state government officials along Monguno, Baga road, killing 12 police men, 13 civilians and 5 soldiers.
The incident happened around 2pm while the convoy was heading to Baga town ahead of the government’s plan to return internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Maiduguri to Baga.
According to the details obtained by DAILY POST, the terrorists also seized and carted away one Police, one gun truck belonging to the military and six government vehicles.
A source who earlier reported the attack said, “There is an ongoing fierce fire exchange between Boko Haram terrorists and the Nigerian soldiers at the Baga area.
“The government convoy that left Mongonu to Baga was attacked by BHT, but the military, both air and land support are engaging them.”
The convoy left Maiduguri for Monguno on Thursday to proceed to Baga, where the governor was expected to join them.
However, they were ambushed shortly after leaving Monguno by suspected Boko Haram fighters at Kekano village.
