The suspect, Akah Tersoo, was arrested with an accomplice, Godwin Idih. The duo were among 36 suspects arrested in the last one week in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, spoke on Tuesday while presenting his scorecard since he took over the force leadership in the state.
He said Idih and Tersoo were caught on April 26, 2017, at about 2:30am while breaking the ATM belonging to Ecobank with a digger and an axe.
He said, “My men, who were on a patrol duty, noticed suspicious movements at a branch of Ecobank on Ganaja Junction, Lokoja, and stopped to observe.
“On close examination, they saw two individuals who were later identified as Godwin Idih and Akah Tersoo, breaking the ATM with a digger and an axe. The team promptly intercepted and arrested the suspects with the exhibits.
“But sadly, one of the suspects is a serving corps member.”
