A middle-aged man, identified as Obinna Stephen, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the kidnap of an eight-year-old boy in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The victim is a child of Stephen’s boss, Mr. Ezechiefor Chuks, who is a trader in electrical materials in Arakale Market, Akure, while the suspect is an apprentice.
The suspect was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters in Akure along with three other suspects, among whom is a herbalist, identified as Eze Ifeanyi.

Other two suspects are Joel Carol and Christopher Anthony.
After the abduction of the boy, the suspects reportedly demanded N50m ransom before they were arrested by operatives of the state police command on Omoniyi Estate in Akure.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Hilda Harrison, said Stephen planned with other suspects to kidnap his boss’ son at Don Bosco Catholic Church, Akure.
She said, “On receipt of the kidnap report, we swung into action and got the suspect (Stephen) arrested.
“Upon interrogation, he confessed to the complicity in the crime. Further enquiries led to the arrest of other suspects.”
According to the commissioner, the kidnap victim was rescued unhurt and united with his family.
She said some “dangerous items” were recovered from the suspects, including one locally-made pistol, one berretta pistol, some live ammunition, and two live cartridges.
She also said the suspects would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation. - Punch
