Manchester United make approach for Marc Bartra

Sporting Clube de Portugal v Borussia Dortmund - UEFA Champions League

Manchester United have made an approach to Borussia Dortmund for Marc Bartra, according to journalist Tancredi Palmeri.

Barca only moved to Dortmund from Barcelona in June 2016 but has failed to make a big impact in Germany after suffering injuries, including the broken arm he suffered when his team’s bus was attacked on the way to their quarter-final clash with Monaco.

Having already singed Swedish international Victor Lindelof from Benfica for around £31million, the arrival of Bartra would likely mean the end of the United careers for England duo Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Whether United are looking to add another centre-back in the near future remains to be seen and in truth, Palmeri’s record in terms of transfer news is patchy, so whilst Bartra would make a good signing, it is probably worth United fans taking this link with a pinch of salt for the time being.
