Tottenham have cooled their interest in Juan Foyth because manager Mauricio Pochettino believes Estudiantes are asking for too much for the Argentina U20 defender.
Estudiantes value the 19-year-old defender at more than £8m and that is more than Spurs are willing to pay.
Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Roma are all interested in Foyth, who has played only eight times for Estudiantes.
Tottenham have been in the market for a centre-back with the future of Kevin Wimmer uncertain. The Austria international admitted last week that he was thinking of leaving the club and Sky sources understand Spurs are prepared to let him go for the right fee.
Spurs are yet to make a signing this summer and sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City for a fee in excess of £50m last week.
They are interested in Ricardo Pereira as his replacement but are yet to move on the Porto man.
