Transfer news : Everton 'increase Gylfi bid'

PA

Everton have made an improved bid for Swansea midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson worth up to £45m, Sky sources understand.

The bid is believed to be for £40m, plus an additional £5m in add-ons.
Everton's initial bid of £40m was previously rejected, with the Swans understood to be holding out for £50m.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has been tracking the Iceland international for some time, with Sigurdsson missing Swansea's 10-day tour to the USA as the club felt he was not in "the right frame of mind to travel" as speculation about his future continued.

The 27-year-old has been a key player for the south Wales side since he joined from Tottenham for £6.8m in July 2014.
Sigurdsson has scored 37 goals in 131 appearances during his two spells at the Liberty Stadium, having previously spent a four-month spell on loan from German side Hoffenheim in 2012.
