Wayne Rooney will be an Everton player again by the end of the week

ACCORDING TO REPORTS, Wayne Rooney could be back in an Everton shirt by the end of this week.

Neil Custis, writing in The Sun, says that the 31-year-old has been stood down from the Manchester United squad that is set to depart on their preseason tour to the United States on Sunday.

Apparently, that’s because a return to Goodison Park is imminent.
The attacker, who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho’s arrival, left Everton for United back in 2004 but his future has looked bleak for some time.

Now, his former employers are top of the queue to sign him with no interest from Major League Soccer while Rooney, by all accounts, was uneasy about moving his family to China and ply his trade in the CSL.

According to Custis, Rooney will sign on a free transfer but will retain his £250,000 weekly wage.
Everton are also poised to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal for £20m, with Romelu Lukaku expected to leave sooner rather than later. - Journal.ie
