In a bid to re-energize its workforce for a renewed vigour to achieve its mandate of ridding Nigeria of corruption, the Servicom Unit of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has begun a three-day sensitization workshop for members of staff of the anti-graft agency.
According to the Unit, Mohammed Bako, the “service delivery sensitization” workshop, which began on August 8, 2017, was approved by the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, “as part of efforts to spur members of staff to achieve the mission and vision of the EFCC”.
Giving insight into the establishment of the Unit, Bako stressed that the EFCC “is no longer just an establishment, but has over its 14 years of existence, become an institution”.
He used the opportunity to remind staff that their primary role was to serve the Commission, and by extension Nigeria, with the aim of delivering quality service in the discharge of the agency’s mandate.
“The EFCC has been rated as one of the best agencies in the world, and is known by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI, the German Police, among many others,” he said, stressing that “we are already leading and should continue to produce quality service to the citizens”.
Bako reminded participants of the core values of the EFCC which include, Professionalism, Integrity, Courage, Leadership and Partnership, and urged staff to take issues of discipline, and dedication to work seriously.
“Our position at the international level is due to the efficient service being delivered by the EFCC, and we must maintain this, because we are already leading, and should continue to provide quality service to Nigerians,” he said.
He further stressed the need to carry out the mandate of the agency with “the highest ethical and legal standard”, adding that “members of staff are expected to observe the Commission’s code of conduct as outlined in its staff regulations”.
Femi Gbarufu, Head, EFCC’s Human Resources, reiterating the comments of Bako, added that “there is need for cooperation among members of staff, because we all are working towards a common goal of uplifting the EFCC has be.”- EFCC
