40-year-old security guard jailed 4 years for defiling minor

Mr Francis Gyang, a security guard,was on Wednesday sentenced to four years imprisonment by a Jos Upper Area Court for defiling a minor.

The Judge, Mr Yahaya Mohammed, convicted Gyang for defiling the six-year-old girl without an option of a fine.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Ibrahim Gukwat said that the offence was contrary to Section 282 of the Penal Code.
According to the Prosecutor, the convict, on Sept. 21, lured the girl to his room and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.


The accused had pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court for mercy.
The upper area court judge said that the sentence would serve as a deterrent.
