Southampton manager Mark Hughes says Liverpool ‘need’ to win the Premier League title this season to continue growing as a club.
The Reds dominated English football in the 1970’s and 1980’s, but it has been a long time since the club last won the top flight league title.
Speaking ahead of his sides visit to Anfield on Saturday, as reported by the Express, Hughes had this to say on Liverpool’s chances of claiming the title this season.
“If Liverpool are going to become the team they feel they can be and be as successful as they want to be they need to get that Premier League title.”
“If they do that then a lot of titles will follow for them.”
“They look really strong. You sense they are very close and they are as good as they have been for a number of years.”
“They need to put trophies on the sideboard now.”
“They have come close in the Champions League final but now they need to go the final step.” = Read Sport
