A tragic accident at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport has claimed the life of an airport worker after he was struck and run over by a passenger aircraft during ground operations.
The incident happened on Monday evening, August 24, 2026, as an aircraft was being moved backwards from its parking position at the airport. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 7:30 p.m. local time.
Initial reports indicated that the worker, who was employed by airport services company Samsic, was involved in ground operations when he was struck by the aircraft. Some reports said the man may have tripped and fallen into the aircraft's path as it was being pushed back. Authorities have not yet confirmed the precise sequence of events.
The worker was initially reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
