Mother Charged For Burning Her Son's Chest With Hot Iron For Being Forgetful
A Florida mother-of-three is accused of burning her 9-year-old son with a hot iron for being forgetful. Tamecha Jean, 32, was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse on Monday in Broward County.
Investigators say Jean burned her son twice on the chest after she became upset that the child forgot to bring some paperwork from school..
Detectives with Pembroke Pines police department and Broward Sheriff's investigators said that Jean told them she was holding the hot iron and whipping her son with a belt and that the iron may have touched him by mistake.
Capt. Al Xiques with the Pembroke Pines Police Department said: 'It's just outrageous to use a hot iron as a type of punishment.
'It seems more like a type of torture. Maybe she accidental burned him twice while trying to spank him with a belt.'
The mother-of-three appeared in court twice on Monday, in which her attorney asked that she be released on a $1,500 bond as prosecutors demanded the amount be more.
'I'm sorry, the violence alleged in this case is just so aggravating that it completely outweighs any mitigating factors, your honor. I'm going to be requesting a $20 thousand bond,' said Prosecutor Eric Linder.
However, Judge Christopher Pole said she would not have to put up any money.
'What I'm going to do is, I'm going to release her ROR to Level 2 pre-trial, released with a monitor,' Pole said in court.
I'm going to ask pre-trial to wave the cost of a pre-trial monitor. She is to have no contact in any form or manner with her three children until further order of the family court division,' said Judge Pole.
During her second court appearance in family court, the judge said Jean could have supervised visits with two of her children, but no contact with her son.
'Your honor, the child is fearful of his mother,' a prosecutor said. 'We would ask for no contact with the mother. He is afraid of his mother,.' the prosecutor said
