The Manchester Evening News has reported that United keeper Sam Johnstone is set to complete a season-long loan move to Villa at some point today.
The 24-year-old, who has a year remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford, spent the second half of last season on-loan at Villa Park, making a big impression on Steve Bruce, who has been working on a deal to bring him back to the club since the campaign ended.
Johnstone is a long way down the pecking order at United, finding himself behind the talented Joel Pereira, Sergio Romero, and David de Gea. Despite this, the future is bright for the youngster, and he can use his regular playing time at Villa Park to prove himself to Mourinho.
However, if, in the end, it doesn’t work out for him at Old Trafford, it is highly likely that Villa will offer him a permanent deal.
