Chelsea and Antonio Conte are in the middle of a transfer stand off with the Italian wanting to bring in experienced players this summer.
The Times reports that the former Juventus boss’ demands are nearly the opposite of what the Chelsea board want to do this summer.
As a club, Chelsea have always looked to the future when signing players, ensuring that they can utilise them during their prime while also maintaining a future sell on value, Nemanja Matic a prime example.
Conte wants to bring in five more players, with the likes of Antonio Candreva (30), Fernando Llorente (32), Virgil van Dijk (26) some of the players on his shortlist.
The Chelsea board are determined to maintain their ambition to plan for the medium and long-term future, while the report suggests that Conte has his eyes on competing in the Champions League this season.
