The Police Command in Delta state has arrested the Cash Management Officer, Amina Oyewole ‘f’, the Chief Security Officer and two Drivers of the United Bank for Africa, UBA Branch 1 in Asaba over an armed robbery attack between Otulu/Ubulu-Okiti along Asaba-Benin Expressway on Tuesday September 1according Daily post reports.
The Delta Police Command claimed that when the bank officials earlier approached the Operations Department of the Command for escort, their request was turned down on the grounds that the bank does not have a serviceable bullion van needed for such operations.
“Sadly, during the attack, one of the police escorts was fatally injured by the armed robbers who also emptied the twenty-five million naira (N25, 000,000.00) into their cars – a Honda Pilot Jeep and Toyota Corolla, Registration numbers unknown, and escaped.”
The State Police Command warned that henceforth banks requiring police escort must adhere to laid down regulations on special escort, especially during the ”ember” months.
Furthermore, the command assured the public that fleeing armed robbers will be apprehended and brought to justice.
