Everton on brink of signing Gylfi Sigurdsson
Everton have agreed a deal with Swansea City to sign influential midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson for £25million, but personal terms are delaying the move, according to Mirror.
The Icelandic playmaker scored nine goals and registered 13 assists in the Premier League this season to help Swansea escape relegation.
However, his wage demands could mean the deal falls through, as the 27-year-old is asking for £120,000 a week.
The Toffees are trying to seal the deal swiftly, amid competition for the player’s signature from rival Premier League clubs.
The ex-Spurs man has been linked with a move back to North London, but Ronald Koeman is keen on bringing Sigurdsson to Merseyside as he looks to bolster his attacking options.
With the future of Ross Barkley at Goodison Park in doubt, Koeman is already looking for a replacement, with Sigurdsson his preferred choice.
Swansea boss Paul Clement is desperate to hold on to his star player and has urged the Icelandic player to stay at the Liberty Stadium to be the key man for the club.
Sigurdsson is one of the first names on the Swansea team sheet, something which he did not experience at Tottenham Hotspur and Clement fears that could happen again to him at Everton.
