Man docked over threat to life


A 38-year-old businessman, Sunday Linus, was on Friday arraigned in a Mararaba Magistrates’ Court in Nasarawa State, for allegedly threatening the life of one Yahaya Othman.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Olusegun Fabiyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 13 at about 9.00 a.m.
Fabiyi said that the complainant went to his plot of land located at Masaka and saw the accused with one Yakubu Mesin who is now at large, working on the land.

He said that when Othman questioned them, they threatened him with cutlasses and asked him to leave the land immediately.

He said that based on the threat, the complainant went to the Police Area Command Headquarters, Keffi to report the matter.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 97, 348 and 397 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The Magistrate, Mr. Patrick Epu, granted the accused N200,000 bail and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until July 20 for hearing.
