Barkley: No top wage demands

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has not demanded to become Tottenham's highest-paid player, according to  sources.

It is understood Tottenham are interested in Barkley but unwilling to meet Everton's valuation.
Sources close to Barkley have told Sky Sports News that, contrary to some reports, it is "untrue" to suggest he has asked for £150,000-a-week wages, more than any other Tottenham player earns.

Barkley did not travel with Everton's squad to their pre-season training game in Netherlands because of a groin injury.
The 23-year-old, who also missed the Toffees trip to Tanzania earlier this month because of the same issue, is about to enter the final year of his contract and has told Everton he wants to leave the club this summer.

Ronald Koeman said at the end of last season that Barkley will be sold if he does not sign a new deal.
