According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are going to make an increased bid worth £45m for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar after two previous bids have been rejected.
There have been many clubs who are pursuing Lemar this summer after a great season for Monaco in the Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Arsenal have been the main club linked with the Frenchman and they are set to submit a bid worth £45m soon. Rivals Tottenham have also been linked with a move.
Lemar’s teammate Kylian Mbappe has also been linked with The Gunners but he looks likely to move to Spanish giants Real Madrid for a huge £160m.
However, if the deal for Mbappe does go through the Monaco would be reluctant to sell Lemar as well as they have already sold Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy to Manchester City, as well as Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea.
With Alexis Sanchez looking like he’s heading for the exit door at The Emirates, Arsene Wenger is looking to snap up Lemar as his replacement and the sale of Sanchez would fund the move nicely.
Lemar made 55 appearances for Monaco in all competitions last season, scoring 14 times and assisting 17, in a season where he won the Ligue 1, reached the Champions League semi-final and earned his first ever France international call-up and at the age of 21, Lemar looks like a great player for the present and the future.
